Yugioh is actually the number 1 selling trading card game of all time. They edge a little over magic in Europe and although magic may have a bigger audience in N america, if has absolutely 0 audience in the east, yugioh is higher overall. also I remember going to see POL when it first came out, the movie pack consisted of 1 card only, maybe those 4 cards were the pool to pack from, I dunno tbh, but you defo didn't get all 4, you just got 1 of them per ticket you brought.
Well, it was printed already. Maybe not in the TCG, but it had been out for years even in Structure Decks in the OCG by the time Shining Dragon released
@@ViroVeteruscy Blue eyes shining came out in 2004 in the U.S. as one of a few promos for the pyramid of light movie. Ultimate came out 2 or 3 years after that
The OCG Dreary Doll is even worse because the bandage covering the eye is bloody, which implies 2 unsettling things. Thing 1: that these dolls can bleed. And thing 2: there used to be an eye in that covered socket. The fact that the doll can bleed is utterly horrifying to think about in my opinion, and I don't like the implications that come with it.
Here is a fact that I HATE to this day. When the first packs were printed, LOB, the European set has less cards than any other sets. American sets had 126 cards where we only had 103. We missed out on cards like Larvas, Power of Kaishin, Mystical Sheep 2, Dragoness the wicked Knight and One Eyed Shield Dragon to name a few. Something else we missed out on here in Europe were the McDonalds cards which were not given out with Happy Meals here :(
Kaiba explains why Solomon Moto was incapacitated by the duel in the manga. In Kaiba and Yugi's first encounter (in a funhouse that Kaiba sets up specifically for Yugi and his friends), Yugi uses his Millennium Puzzle's magic to make the monsters real and terrify Kaiba. Then, after Kaiba loses, he hits him with a penalty game. The duel against Solomon was Kaiba's first demonstration of his holographic tech, which he built specifically to copy Yugi's magic and he coded the final life point loss to be so shock inducing that it would act as his own penalty game. Solomon was suffering from basically technologically-induced PTSD when Yugi found him.
Fun fact: Horakhty the Creator of Light has actually been released in the card game but has no English variation. It was an event exclusive card released only in Japan and can be played in a duel but obviously banned from tournaments because like Exodia it’s a duel winner card. Merely summoning it to the field is a guaranteed win. But to summon it you’ll need all 3 Egyptian God Cards on the field to tribute them.
Summoning all 3 God Cards is easily done in one turn. The new support cards printed in the last 2 years make this even easier but seen as we dont have Creator in the TCG its a waste of time because on their own the Gods are crap.
# 001 During the beginning stage of Yugioh, players didn't have a maximum deck limit. And it wasn't even enforced in tournaments either. Until one guy came to the tournament with boxes and boxes of cards! And it is supposed to be his deck. After reports of people entering tournaments doing what that guy did, they quickly brought the max deck capacity down to 60, much like with Magic and Pokemon TCG Then later Konami made a card called "The Grass is Greener" a powerful card that players took full advantage of by playing a 60 card deck. As during the time of its release, there were lots of cards and strategies that would activate when sent to the graveyard. Opening up all sorts of FTK shenanigans. Now imagine if Konami (amongst their many bad decisions) stuck to their guns and the no max capacity rule was still a thing today.....
In the first ever rule book it has up to 60 cards in it so this didn't happen. They wouldn't have a tornement before making the rules that would just be stupid.
Fun fact d/d/d and d/d stand for different dimensions demon and dimension demon so imagine how long d/d mosters and d/d/d names would be if they didn't shorten it also the gods have an evil counter part the wicked gods consisting of the wicked dredroot, the wicked avatar & Wicked eraser also I would include secred beat Nordic gods and possibly the earthbound immortals
I always thought joeys luck cards were because of his dad being a gambler and Joey always wanting to pay off his dads debt. Also the early manga did receive an anime but it’s only in Japanese. You can watch it on UA-cam here. Just turn on English subs.
personally, Gimmick Puppet Bique Doll looks kinda cute, the rest are nightmare fuel. plus the auto-win effect ZYX card they have doesn't really help (yet no one I've fought so far uses Gimmick Puppets :/ )
My favorite was learning not only what the reason behind the Slifer joke was, but that it's actually based upon reality and an explanation of what a "slifer" is, since I understood Ra and Obelisk. So, just that entire portion.
Thanks for reminding me of the nightmare fuel that was "The Island of Dr. Quandary" with GP Egg Head! I curse you with the terror that is that game now! (And the absolute joy that was the gameplay, tbh)
Did you know that there's a card that, while not as expensive, is more rare than that Black Luster Soldier card? Tyler the Great Warrior. The card is the result of the Make a Wish foundation learning of 14-year-old Tyler Gressle, who had a rare form of liver cancer. He went to 4Kids headquarters and designed his own card, which was printed in August of the next year. Only one copy was ever printed.
I thought the whole "YGO/ Smash players smell" thing was just a meme, but I went to a Smash tournament once... And it was true. Had no issues with YGO tournaments tho
# 001 Along with the "GO TAKE A SHOWER" rules, they also made a controversial rule where players cannot check other players hand, field, or even the deck for validity when certain effects resolves that would involve hand, deck, or face-down card knowledge. For example: Ordeal of a Traveler: When you try to guess the card in their hand as to what card type it is. The player using Ordeal of a Traveler can just cheat by just lying, even if the card was called correctly. And since they can't check for validation, the player guessing would have to go by their word, making the card substantially more powerful than it is. Another example Inferno Tempest: When you take 3000 battle damage, both players must banish all cards in the deck and graveyard. Beforehand, both players can check each others' decks to confirm if there are no monsters left in the decks. But now with validation rule gone, players can simply cheat by manipulating what monsters they banish.
I want to point out another reason for that bls. The game did not come to America till 2001. Meaning it was exclusively ocg only. So wherever that card my be, it is the rarest card in the world. Being an ocg only tournament card, one of a kind, and the first prize card ever in yugioh history.
Joey's father is actually abusive and he's an alcoholic gambler with a mountain of debt. Some clues that confirm this is in the dark side of the dimensions movie where Joey is carrying his cards and duel disk to school. He believes if he didn't do this his father would sell them behind his back. The biggest clue however I believe is in season 0 of Yu-Gi-Oh which is the real first season we didn't get in the west. In an episode of that Joey disappeared and the gang went to the apartment where he lived and they had a bottle thrown at them by Joey's drunk father who thought Joey finally came home. I think Joey actually uses luck based cards as a way to channel some habits from his father in a harmless way.
And there are plenty of story lines that we midded out on; yeah like the one where joey was giving yugi a Porn and they where complaining about the pixles in the video (uncensored porn are illegal in japan) and then there was a tv jornalist who wants to make a story about bulling and starts beating the shit out of yugi when yami switched and punished that guy with only seeing pixles like in the japanese video censorship; it's actually the second chapter of the manga
I only played with kids once in a tournament at the card store in the mall and they had my best magic tap and effect cards like monster reborn cyber just there were a couple others I can't remember right now but those were the main ones that pissed me off

in my yugioh local we had one who was in the european championship 2018 and he always smelled like he didnt know what soap, shampoo or even deodorant was he always smelled like a mix of a ton of dried sweat, old socks and cigarettes because he smokes and whenever i had to duel him in a local i gave up so i dont have to sit close to him for the 35min
When yugi won duelist kingdom he got grandpa back the prize money for Joey and kaiba and mokuba came back and an extra card for some reason that extra card was next to the taped card that kaiba ripped in half and it was restored so what happened to that card anybody got any ideas
Nice, entertaining video 👍 Just wanna point out though, the most valuable card thing is actually a bit wrong here (ik it mostly talked about most valuable ever sold) The stainless steal BLS selling for $2 million is a common misconception, cards were not remotely worth as much back then, and the confusion comes from it selling for 2 million _yen_ , not dollars, which at the time was only vaguely around $20,000 But yea, these days it would be worth far more 1st Ed wavy LOB PSA 10 BEWD isn’t remotely close to second either; the one of a kind BEUD in Akihabara is famously listed at $400,000, and is as conceptually valuable as the BLS because it’s also one of a kind, same as Tyler the Great Warrior Just about any YCS or KC Championship 1st place prize card also easily can hit 6 figures, at least two of them recently sold on eBay for something like $180,000, and the KC 1st place BEWD was sold for 6 figures as well Also minor detail, Takahashi’s (RIP) friend wanted the Kaiba-guy to teach him the card game, not teach Takahashi
Fun fact: yugioh is the most popular card game in Japan it beats pokemon and magic of the gathering by a lot in popularity. Magic the gathering is the most popular in America but yugioh is actually the most popular card game in history and the world by a lot. Pokemon is 2nd then magic of the gathering is 3rd.
Been in this game for quite a few years and have to say; the people spreading unsavoury odours are rarely ever the good players, it's usually the ones who show up with playground decks, waifu cards or dragon pile who make my nose glad they don't tend to stick around the community too long.
So... Kaiba professionally makes platforms for... cards he stole... from Pegasus and... his rival who beats him over the top every time's shop? So, a drug dealer, who took the drugs he stole and exploited that there is the coke in the coke cola he distributes, and loses to the natives where the Cola nut comes from?
aye idk about you guys but I get what I call gamer stink. I only get it when were playing really competitive intense games but that stress sweat smells diff .
1st ed psa10 LOB blue eyes isnt the 2nd most expensive yugioh card ever sold.... also, the stainless bls isnt #1. The card hasnt been sold or even seen for that matter in such a long time. The most expensive recorded actual sale is most likely the Duel Links prize card Extra Secret Rare BEWD. It sold in the 6 figure range.
Step back chumps this is how you fix YU-GI-OH Side note Links should’ve been made before Pendulum then Pendulums last. Side note 2 numbers 12,14, 20, 21, 23, 24 are a little too much and aren’t necessary. 1. You can’t use face down cards for fusion or ritual Summons only for Tribute summons 2. 1 Normal summon and 1 set or 2 sets (or 2 normal Summons) (Or or 1 set, 1 normal summon, 1 tribute Summon) 3. Normal Summoning in face-up defense position 4. Remove missing timing 5. Tokens can be use as xyz Material 6. Increase the Extra and side Decks to 20 Cards 7. Link monsters can be used as synchro material but count as level 0 ofc 8. Ritual monsters that say “YOU CAN ritual summon this card” can also be Special or Normal summoned like regular monsters. Only Rituals that say “MUST BE” must be ritual summoned. 9. when a monster attacks another monster that has higher DEF points it’s destroyed after damage calc. 10. any combination of cards with mutual links can be used to have control of a monster in both mid field Extra Monster Zones. Instead of just the U lock 11. Monsters in the Mid field Extra monster Zones can be used by either player for The summons of Fusion, Ritual, Synchro, XYZ, Link and tributes for tribute Summons. Now both players benefit and take a risk by using the Extra monsters zones 12. Monsters in the Pendulum Zones can be used by (only the controller or by either player who cares really) for The summons of Fusion, Ritual, Synchro, XYZ, Link and tributes for tribute Summons 13. Bring back the Pendulum zones but you can only pendulum summon monsters equal to the # of zones in between where you placed your scales in the back row. So with how the board is set up now you can only pen summon 3 monsters. So if you want to summon 5 they’d need to bring back pendulum scale zones plus it’d be cool to set traps in your pendulum zones yk 14. Pendulum monsters in the Pendulum zones can only attack monsters in the mid field Extra monster zones or Cards( monster, S/T) across from itself on the opponent’s field in the Pendulum Zones. 15. All monsters have battle protection from monsters with lower Levels/Ranks then themselves and also have Battle vulnerability with monsters that have a higher Level/ Rank then themselves. Meaning they are instantly destroyed after damage calc when battling a monster with a higher Level/ Rank Or All monsters have battle protection and instant destruction upon attacks on monsters in this oder. Level 12 beats level 11 and below and Rank 1 beats level 12 and below ect ect ect 16. You can Fusion summon fusion monsters without poly by Summoning material on top/in the same zone as the other material.( for monster that requires 3 material the material must be on field or in hand just like how poly works. ( if you’ve play Dark Duel stories then you’d know how this works) ( its just a choice between letting this summoning mechanic be a fusion summon or not which ofc it should be counted as Fusion summon so then monsters gain their effects and if the material is sent to the gy or is stays stacked in the same zones.) 17. Monsters in main monster zones can only attack monsters in the main monster zones across in same columns as themselves and can’t attack directly. Monsters in the EMZ can attack directly when opponents board is empty ofc and monsters in the opponent’s main monster zones 18. Link monsters Arrow can be used to climb up or down the field creating EMZones on your opponent’s field or your own S/T zones 19. Both And/or Link arrows just let the link monster attack the zones it points to along with monsters in the same Column 20. While In the EMZ or main monster zones Pendulum monsters can attack S/T cards/ cards in the S/T zones in the same column as itself. (No damage is delt) Or pendulums can only attack an opponent’s Cards in the S/T zones while its been summon to the opponent’s field (in your control) bc the arrow a link monster points to an opponent’s main monsters zones 21. You can start duels with any number of Pendulum’s monsters face-up on top of the extra deck for you to Pend summon but they take up space in your extra Deck 22. Add a secondary Extra deck thats only for spells and traps thats 5-10-20 cards and you can once per turn set 1 trap or add it to your hand and 1 activation/set of a spell or add it to your hand ( only in the main phase of the turn players turn) (Pendulum monsters can be place here to) (You Activate any spell you choose from the speed spell deck or you set it depends on if you wanna extra zone to activate spells from or if you wanna make it more of a guess which card is my trap cards kinda deal) 23. Unlimited normal Summons of normal monsters and of any level 1-8 24. Draw 2 cards per turn during draw phase 25. Create a separate banlist for the speed spell deck 26. Links aren’t restricted to the EMZ to be summoned 27. Get rid of properly summoning 28. All together your once per turn resources become 1 set of a trap or add it to your hand 1 set of a spell or add it to your hand 1 normal summon 1 set of a monster 1 pendulum summon 1 activation of a trap from the hand 29. Pendulum summoning aren’t restricted to zones with link arrows pointing to them 30. Both players can use both EMZones without a U-Lock 31. Once per turn on either players turn you can activate one trap from the hand CARD DESIGNS THAT ID LIKE TO SEE IN THE FUTURE THAT COULD HELP BALANCE THE GAME More reprints More possible/realistic 1. Create (more)Pendulum Ritual Monsters 2. Trap Pendulum Monsters 3. Link Pendulum Monsters 4. Create Pendulums with Different Numbered Scales on Each Side(scale) 5. Create Pendulum Flip Monsters 6. Create Pendulum Union Monsters 7. Create Pendulum Gemini Monsters 8. Create Generic Pendulum Archetypes to Support Links, Xyz, Synchros, Fusions, Rituals, Tribute, Normals, flip, union, gemini, spirits, Attributes, types etc 9. Print more column specific Effects on cards. 10. Print more Link 5s Less possible/realistic 1. *Create Link monsters with DEF points that are Red cards 2. *Create S/T cards with Pendulum Scales 3. *Create S/T cards with Link Arrows 4. *Create Speed Spells And a Speed Spell Deck Zone 5. Create a new Trap Card type that Are True “Hand traps”
I feel like most of these changes overcomplicate the game moreso than it "fixes" it... I mean lol... we still have players who struggle to even bother to READ certain card effects and their long-winded wall of text lol... And some of these changes I feel should already be a thing, or at least a rule within the current game itself. Like the option to be able to normal summon a monster in face-up defense position without needing to tech another card in order to do so, mainly for the sake of being able to safely activate their monster effects without them having to helplessly act as a wall with their pitiful attack stat. 😑

in my yugioh local we had one who was in the european championship 2018 and he always smelled like he didnt know what soap, shampoo or even deodorant was he always smelled like a mix of a ton of dried sweat, old socks and cigarettes because he smokes and whenever i had to duel him in a local i gave up so i dont have to sit close to him for the 35min
I dont remember these last cards on this list but I like to use them in my zombie deck .
Technically grandpa got a heart attack due to photosensitive overstimulation in the manga.
Rarest card I’ve ever drawn in a breaker form the tourney Pack…
ahhh, yes, the Relinquish Chest Dongle...
I thought the Sphinx cards from the movie were also in that pack.
When yugi won duelist kingdom he got grandpa back the prize money for Joey and kaiba and mokuba came back and an extra card for some reason that extra card was next to the taped card that kaiba ripped in half and it was restored so what happened to that card anybody got any ideas
Hey I like gimmick puppets I think they're adorable lil dudes
Bro looks like a ps5 😂😂😂😂😂
Nice, entertaining video 👍
Just wanna point out though, the most valuable card thing is actually a bit wrong here (ik it mostly talked about most valuable ever sold)
The stainless steal BLS selling for $2 million is a common misconception, cards were not remotely worth as much back then, and the confusion comes from it selling for 2 million _yen_ , not dollars, which at the time was only vaguely around $20,000
But yea, these days it would be worth far more
1st Ed wavy LOB PSA 10 BEWD isn’t remotely close to second either; the one of a kind BEUD in Akihabara is famously listed at $400,000, and is as conceptually valuable as the BLS because it’s also one of a kind, same as Tyler the Great Warrior
Just about any YCS or KC Championship 1st place prize card also easily can hit 6 figures, at least two of them recently sold on eBay for something like $180,000, and the KC 1st place BEWD was sold for 6 figures as well
Also minor detail, Takahashi’s (RIP) friend wanted the Kaiba-guy to teach him the card game, not teach Takahashi
Gimmick puppet egg head looks like a bobobo character.
I still have my sphinx cards i got from one of the movies. :)
Of course you have a bit with the harpies 😉
of course I had to 😆
I joined for years never met one never showered but based they got out of school need teeth brushed but it's good for me because I smelled worse
is that how it went down???
Most of these facts I knew good video though.
Thank you I appreciate it!
@@17foxes your welcome, if you do more yugioh content let me know.
Sure I will let you know
Fun fact: yugioh is the most popular card game in Japan it beats pokemon and magic of the gathering by a lot in popularity.
That is true I have noticed that as well!
"Looks like a PS5".... 😅🤭😂🤣
Why the hell does this 1:57 look like hierophant green?
I did know about Magic & spells
aye idk about you guys but I get what I call gamer stink. I only get it when were playing really competitive intense games but that stress sweat smells diff .
Yugioh players have drip nowadays idk about you
1st ed psa10 LOB blue eyes isnt the 2nd most expensive yugioh card ever sold.... also, the stainless bls isnt #1. The card hasnt been sold or even seen for that matter in such a long time. The most expensive recorded actual sale is most likely the Duel Links prize card Extra Secret Rare BEWD. It sold in the 6 figure range.
The ps5 looks like kiba
Step back chumps this is how you fix YU-GI-OH
Side note Links should’ve been made before Pendulum then Pendulums last.
Side note 2 numbers 12,14, 20, 21, 23, 24 are a little too much and aren’t necessary.
1. You can’t use face down cards for fusion or ritual Summons only for Tribute summons
2. 1 Normal summon and 1 set or 2 sets
(or 2 normal Summons)
(Or or 1 set, 1 normal summon, 1 tribute Summon)
3. Normal Summoning in face-up defense position
4. Remove missing timing
5. Tokens can be use as xyz Material
6. Increase the Extra and side Decks to 20 Cards
7. Link monsters can be used as synchro material but count as level 0 ofc
Instead of just the U lock
11. Monsters in the Mid field Extra monster Zones can be used by either player for The summons of Fusion, Ritual, Synchro, XYZ, Link and tributes for tribute Summons. Now both players benefit and take a risk by using the Extra monsters zones
12. Monsters in the Pendulum Zones can be used by (only the controller or by either player who cares really) for The summons of Fusion, Ritual, Synchro, XYZ, Link and tributes for tribute Summons
13. Bring back the Pendulum zones but you can only pendulum summon monsters equal to the # of zones in between where you placed your scales in the back row. So with how the board is set up now you can only pen summon 3 monsters. So if you want to summon 5 they’d need to bring back pendulum scale zones plus it’d be cool to set traps in your pendulum zones yk
Meaning they are instantly destroyed after damage calc when battling a monster with a higher Level/ Rank
Or
All monsters have battle protection and instant destruction upon attacks on monsters in this oder. Level 12 beats level 11 and below and Rank 1 beats level 12 and below ect ect ect
16. You can Fusion summon fusion monsters without poly by Summoning material on top/in the same zone as the other material.( for monster that requires 3 material the material must be on field or in hand just like how poly works.
( if you’ve play Dark Duel stories then you’d know how this works)
( its just a choice between letting this summoning mechanic be a fusion summon or not which ofc it should be counted as Fusion summon so then monsters gain their effects and if the material is sent to the gy or is stays stacked in the same zones.)
17. Monsters in main monster zones can only attack monsters in the main monster zones across in same columns as themselves and can’t attack directly. Monsters in the EMZ can attack directly when opponents board is empty ofc and monsters in the opponent’s main monster zones
18. Link monsters Arrow can be used to climb up or down the field creating EMZones on your opponent’s field or your own S/T zones
19. Both And/or Link arrows just let the link monster attack the zones it points to along with monsters in the same Column
20. While In the EMZ or main monster zones Pendulum monsters can attack S/T cards/ cards in the S/T zones in the same column as itself. (No damage is delt)
Or pendulums can only attack an opponent’s Cards in the S/T zones while its been summon to the opponent’s field (in your control) bc the arrow a link monster points to an opponent’s main monsters zones
21. You can start duels with any number of Pendulum’s monsters face-up on top of the extra deck for you to Pend summon but they take up space in your extra Deck
22. Add a secondary Extra deck thats only for spells and traps thats 5-10-20 cards and you can once per turn set 1 trap or add it to your hand and 1 activation/set of a spell or add it to your hand
( only in the main phase of the turn players turn)
(Pendulum monsters can be place here to)
(You Activate any spell you choose from the speed spell deck or you set it depends on if you wanna extra zone to activate spells from or if you wanna make it more of a guess which card is my trap cards kinda deal)
23. Unlimited normal Summons of normal monsters and of any level 1-8
24. Draw 2 cards per turn during draw phase
25. Create a separate banlist for the speed spell deck
26. Links aren’t restricted to the EMZ to be summoned
27. Get rid of properly summoning
28. All together your once per turn resources become
1 set of a trap or add it to your hand
1 set of a spell or add it to your hand
1 normal summon
1 set of a monster
1 pendulum summon
1 activation of a trap from the hand
29. Pendulum summoning aren’t restricted to zones with link arrows pointing to them
30. Both players can use both EMZones without a U-Lock
31. Once per turn on either players turn you can activate one trap from the hand
CARD DESIGNS THAT ID LIKE TO SEE IN THE FUTURE THAT COULD HELP BALANCE THE GAME
More reprints
More possible/realistic
1. Create (more)Pendulum Ritual Monsters
2. Trap Pendulum Monsters
3. Link Pendulum Monsters
4. Create Pendulums with Different Numbered Scales on Each Side(scale)
5. Create Pendulum Flip Monsters
6. Create Pendulum Union Monsters
7. Create Pendulum Gemini Monsters
8. Create Generic Pendulum Archetypes to Support Links, Xyz, Synchros, Fusions, Rituals, Tribute, Normals, flip, union, gemini, spirits, Attributes, types etc
9. Print more column specific Effects on cards.
10. Print more Link 5s
Less possible/realistic
1. *Create Link monsters with DEF points that are Red cards
2. *Create S/T cards with Pendulum Scales
3. *Create S/T cards with Link Arrows
4. *Create Speed Spells And a Speed Spell Deck Zone
5. Create a new Trap Card type that Are True “Hand traps”
Most of it is change for the sake of change, rather than a solution to a problem, which makes those suggestions pointless.
These are all great thanks for leaving this comment!
Oh, sweet, watapon! Only REAL men use watapon!
Love the video but you could have mentioned that in the Japanese version that the names are not what they are in the American version the names of the characters that is
