Yes when the old ones created the great Lustrian army I'm sure they thought the little skinks who shoot lightning would be more powerful than a 20ft tall dinosaur.
Not likely because of magic alone. This army will have tons winds of magic just from the fact that whole army is full of casters. They have dmg spells and debuffs.
Defense is probably a Paladin doomstack. They get 20% physical resistance from blessing of the lady, 15% from the guardian aura, and 10% ward save from technology. Add in perfect vigor, high melee defense, a shield, high armor, and you get a complete tank of a unit. With Armory stacking they are pretty much unkillable. Repanse is probably the best choice since she gets a unique tech tree that buffs Paladins more than the other Bretonnian lords.
Damage output? Weapons teams by far. Last time I struggled with this I was aganist 3 full stacks of wood elves. My favorite was one Legend taught me, the old use as much ammo as possible and retreat maneuver. Can't pull that same cheese with the engines of the gods, without slowing speed down anyway, because they have much lower range. That was just my experience. I tried Dread Saurians, engines of the gods, ancient stegadons, saurus scar veterans, and in the end it was the normal Stegadons that carried me to an ME victory, my first on Very Hard. So that's my 2cents.
Just for the sake of getting enough Pompous heroes together I usually build an army like this with Skink Chiefs filling at least half the army because it's so easy to raise their capacity and farm traits compared to Priests.
Hero Doomstacks are the new thing I see. What else can be a dope setup? Malus and Master doomstack on Cold ones, Bloodknight and Wright King Horse raiders, King Louis and Paladin spam,
Made one of those. Took 250 turns, bad luck on trait rng. But my god is it amazing, You can also get the swords that give skaven an extra -6 leadership... so they basically start the battle "prerouted"
I think Stegadons - regular, no Engine of the Gods - are fine to keep in this army. The anti-wall and anti-tower capability tremendously helps out in sieges. It also helps in field battles, as they have stupidly good range so you can sit back and shoot them as they come to you. They're also much better against single target anti-large (think Hellpit Abominations), which Skink Priests otherwise struggle with in melee. You definitely want some Engines of the Gods, but I find two enough - any more and I don't get good usage out of their laser beams or their WOM recharge (especially with a stackful of Skink Priests!). Stegadons for everyone else is great.
The only things I could see standing up to this are maybe 2 v 1 (at least) Dragon Ogre Shaggoth or Necrofex Colossus spam. Those solar beams wouldn’t do much against single units. Even then, you’re never going to see that in campaign. Even Luminark spam wouldn’t hurt the magic regen much with all the Arcane Conduits, and the Stegadons would just trample any Empire army regardless. This is a truly terrifying stack.
It would be awesome to see this doomstack fight against Loremasters of Hoeth doomstack. Unbreakable, spellcasters with 105% magic resist and ~100MD. Only downside is that the Loremasters are on foot.
The scary thing about this army is, comparing it to something like the white lion Chariot/mage doomstack, how quickly it killed everything. The High Elf doomstack had just as much magic and even more spells but it took it significantly longer to kill the same number of force (roughly I'm rounding a fair bit). This army might take a while to built but unlike most 10/10 doomstack this army spends more time in the loading screens than it does in the battle. I have to agree with legend, I haven't seen another doomstack that works this efficiently.
And this was a longer battle for it, with possibly the worst terrain imaginable. In more open battles, Kroak can rout entire chunks of armies by dropping Itza on them, the single Beasts Priest can do the same with Flock of Doom, and the Stegadons will pick off enemies the entire time. The reason there aren't many Engine of the Gods ones is because most of the time, enemies won't even be getting close enough to use it on them, except on maps like this, or Ambushes or something.
@@aprinnyonbreak1290 God this new information just makes this Army even scarier. You're effectively saying while this Army could have more power, their enemy rarely last long enough for them to use that extra power. Hell of a claim, and with any other army I might think it's false, but this is one hell of an army so I believe you.
Pompous, Dread Incarnate, and Nurgle's Foul Stink are all very good traits to spam. Pompous can't instantly rout enemies, but fight very well, and has a ton of magic. Dread Incarnate is similar, but is slightly weaker due to vampire heroes having weaker mounts. Basically a middle ground between BM and LM doomstacks. Nurgle's Fould Stink instantly routs most armies, but might struggle ever so slightly with strong unbreakable units.

I would have liked to see a whole barrage of fireballs shooting out all at once :D
I love these builds. Good way to push out the boring end game. Loved the conductor stack too but Elves are pricks and dinos are cool so this one wins.
11:22 It would be fun to see you do it!!
Warhmammer, because we all know war mammoths are the best.
And it doesn't just beat anything, it also does it quickly! No hour of kiting or arrow wasting or waiting around for Winds. :D
The amount of lizard magic on my screen
Always a blast to see a pompous stack
They should probably put a cap to those kinds of leadership debuffs.
