The pocket hole is a joint that gets a bad reputation at times. I do not agree that pocket holes are the do-all joint that I have seen some people promote (mostly by those affiliated with the makers of jigs), but they do have their uses and in those instances, I love pocket holes. The main issue with pocket holes is on how to deal with the long oval holes that’s made when drilling the holes, there are two choices, you can either plug them or just leave them. Either way, they will be noticeable. Unless the holes won’t be seen or you just don’t care if they are seen (most of my projects for the shop have pocket holes and I don’t care if they’re seen), you might want to consider another type of joinery.

@@AndersenWoodCrafts I have the same jig and love it but it was a little confusing as to how to set the stop. You cleared that right up for me. Thanks!

Nice video. But I tried pocket holes and think I'm done with them. I don't see where pocket holes save me money or time or add value on anything but face frames. I just don't build enough face frames to pay for the jig cost. I do like their screws, though.

Thanks for your comment. I totally understand where you're coming from, it depends on the project if they are worth it. I sure don't agree that pocket hole joinery is the go to joinery that some claim it to be, but they do come in handy in some applications. I'm also with you on the screws themselves, I use them for many different applications. Your comment also hits home on one of the big reasons I love woodworking, whatever you're building it's you're project, you build it the way you want to, there really is no right or wrong way, just be safe and have fun building it. Thanks again.
