We have an XL with the diesel and love it. My son is 6'6 and can ride in the middle and back no problem. 27 MPG on the highway doing 70 through Idaho. If you have 2-3 kids and a dog and want to road trip or tow, this is a great choice. Great review!
I have the Denali in the diesel as well. We average about 26.5mpg on road trips. I waited on the Diesel engine, I just couldn't see myself in the V8 with the gas mileage it gets.
You can select an option for a place for your purse in the center console - it’s a bit shallower, and it retracts back, pushing the cup holders closer to the second row, and creating space for a purse. I actually use it a lot when I have a passenger in the front!
Hands down THEEE BEST mom car out there!!!!! Yukon xl Denali was my mom car for 3 kids and it was absolutely perfect for EVERYTHING! Moving, road trips, the kids it does it all! I will forever love this car. My kids are grown now and drive their own cars but I recommend this suv to all my mom friends with little ones.
I have a 2021 Yukon XL Denali and absolutely love it! Mine actually has a few more features than the one you toured, such as the 2nd row entertainment system. My Yukon XL Denali has all of the available features except for two (the power console and the air ride adaptive suspension). I have a rear facing car seat and a high back booster in my 2nd row captain’s chairs and have no problem getting my daughter into her rear facing seat. If you slide the front passenger seat all the way forward and slide the 2nd row passenger seat all the way back, there is plenty of room to access the 3rd row, even with a high back booster placed in the seat. My husband drives a Ram 3500 dually and I do not feel like my Yukon XL drives like a truck at all.
I got the 2022 Denali ultimate package. Mine came with the air ride suspension and the updated digital cluster. Coming from a BMW X5, I think the Yukon is a pleasure drive. I also have a pickup truck. It doesn’t feel like one. I’m also really glad my friends talked me into an XL over the standard wheel base.
@@katiesays I am coming out of a new x5 too and waiting for a Denali to arrive! I only have two kids so did not go with xl. Should I have? I need advice 😂🙏 It’s not too late.
@@shannonroper8815 I really, really, really love having the xl but I utilize the third row a lot. I’d go for it. I drive my kids’ friends around a lot. I never have to put the third row down because the trunk is still huge.
Girl, this is the only honest video about the Denali. You called out the short comings of the SUV without thinking twice. Love it !! Great work. I'm a subscriber.
Honestly if anyone is debating about getting this car but is holding back because they think it’s too big and will be too hard to park just go for it, trust me you’ll get used to it in less than a month.
Those are mostly in the Shop watching them get repaired. I am the fleet manager at our company and Jeeps are VERY unreliable! Plan on once every 4-6 months going to the Dealer for repairs. I drive a 2017 Yukon...134k on the clock and on MAJOR issue (defective trans went @ 97k, 3k under warranty - so replaced for free) but otherwise no pesky reoccurring issues.
We're coming from a 2016 Yukon Denali into a 2021 Yukon XL Denali. One of the features that we loved in our 2016 is one we didn't even know we wanted: Electronic Child Safety Locks. The 2021s don't have them. With children varying in age from 1 month to 18 years old, being able to control the rear safety locks with a push of a button was such a convenience. Super disappointed that the new generation is missing it!
they have manual child locks on the sides of the doors, which is very odd for a 2021+ vehicle. what a pain in the butt to remember every time. what genius thought that was a good idea
I'm a dad of two and I love your videos! I've always been the family driver, since my wife had a Corolla for decades and I had SUVs or trucks, so your videos are amazingly helpful! I'm currently on the market for a new and larger SUV than my current Sorento, and while the Yukon/Yukon XL are at the top of my list, I've watched probably 15 of your other videos including ones for vehicles that aren't on my list at all. I just really like your reviews! Whenever I go to an auto show or dealership, I'm always armed with a tape measure and notebook and write down all my thoughts on pretty much every single thing you comment on in your reviews. I also love the sass! 😀
This mom loves her 2021 Yukon XL! Get GMC to give you one to drive for a while, you will fall in love. I wish it had a fully electronic dash as well, but I am obsessed with this car!! I feel like the coolest mom driving it. I went from a 2013 Buick Regal to a 2021 Yukon XL - what a change, but I will never drive a little car again! My two year old is blown away by the third row seats and has called them the "funny seats" ever since we picked it up! Already took it on a road trip from Michigan to Florida and she was a great road trip car! Also - thankful I got my hands on one as inventory is so bad like you have talked about on your Instagram! Love your stuff :)
As an avid automotive vlog subscriber and viewer, I really appreciate your reviews, especially from a practical parents perspective. I'm looking forward to your review of the Grand Cherokee L and the Rivian R1S. Good luck!
I love that you called it a boat. I drove a 1999 Suburban in high school and I ever so lovingly nicknamed her "the boat" because its just how they drive LOL (even 20 years later).
SUV mom here 🙋🏼♀️, currently pregnant with my third and I’m slowly creeping into that minivan life. I’d love a Ford Expedition but for the price, I could buy 2 minivans. The minivan life just seems so much more practical. What is happening to me!?😫
I was always that mom that would never drive a minivan, but now I get it. It’s too bad I just bought my Ford Explorer 6 months ago. It was perfect for 2 kids, but now with the third on the way, I’m dreading it lol
I have 3 kids (7,4 and 10 months) and have an Explorer. I’ve never really found having doors an inconvenience? 🤷♀️ It’s definitely still manageable with 3 kids.
I’ve owned the regular length version of this car since October 27th and I can tell you three design flaws that moms in particular might not like. 1, The second row has awful hooks instead of handles for dry cleaning which are completely useless. You can hang max one item on each hook and it likely won't stay up till the time you get home. 2, The window on the tailgate is so high up that even me at 6”2 has trouble opening just the window (not the whole tailgate) and putting bags or whatever in, and then getting it out later via just the window those times you are worried about other things spilling out by opening the whole back door. This problem is the same across the entire platform whether you get the Yukon, XL, Tahoe, Suburban, or Escalade. 3, The infotainment screen should be above the top air vents, not below. The position it is in now causes you to look too far away from the road IMO. All this being said, it's a great vehicle that I love, a major step up from the Tahoe I had before, and finally, it's masculine appearance is what made me buy it over the Escalade. Finally, if I were to criticize anything about her review it's that at the end she chose the SLT over the Denali trim citing the price difference for cosmetics when in fact the Denali comes with an entirely different engine and suspension that is shared with the Escalade. This leads into my second criticism which is that she love, love, LOVED the Escalade, but then complained here that the Denali “drives like a truck” when they are in fact the identical engine and suspension and drive train. Yes she drove a regular length Escalade instead of the XL which makes a difference but still, was the branding and more mom-friendly look of the Cadillac swaying her perspective?
GREAT JOB, I WILL BE BUYING 2 NOT NEW. BUT NEWER, GMC)-YUKONS THIS YEAR. I LOVE THE ULTIMATE- XL DENALI WITH 6.2 LTR GAS ENGINES IM LOOKING AT 2021 AND NEWER I KNOW THERE MINT❤
Kelly, recently stumbled on your UA-cam channel while shopping for a vehicle for my family. It is great to have a mothers prospective on the functionality of these vehicles. Your videos are fun and informative. Great job on your channel. Take care.
Yeah smh, but I’d still take the 2021 any day. The 2020 third row has that step thing that makes you eat your knees. That’s a bigger deal breaker than some cup holders
I have a 2012 Yukon xl Denali. They all drive like trucks but you get used to it. I love how spacious they are. We are looking to upgrade in the next year or so and I’ll definitely be sticking with Yukon xl Denali for sure.
As a man that has one of these from 2015,it was pretty cool to see a practical woman do a car review of such a masculine vehicle. She made it fun to watch.
We’ll in all honesty, I’m not surprised that it drives like a truck. It’s almost the same platform as the GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado. Just with independent suspension. And if you equip it, the center counsel can actually move backwards to fit extra bags or purses. But great review👍🏽
I know you keep calling it a car, but a Yukon Denali is classified as a truck. Same with the Ford Expedition Max it is classified as a Truck as well. SUV's in general are all classified as trucks and some of your smaller SUV's can be crossovers.
6:40 - All infotainment units should be integrated into the dash like that. I can’t stand the current automaker trend, where it looks like they forgot the infotainment unit, and just glued a tablet/iPad onto the dash. The iPad look, makes a car look less premium; Like the infotainment was an afterthought.
I agree, no sunshade for the second role is a deal breaker for me for a $88k car. Otherwise I really like this Denali as it is much nicer than a suburban ZR/limited but not look like a celebrity chauffeur car like Caddie Escalate. If I buy such a lux truck, the last thing I want is everyone thinks I am Kardashian’s chauffeur. Great detailed review! Only thing I want more for this car is 35’ screen like the new Escalator.
What would you pick for your family between the Yukon XL and expedition Max? You seemed to be more excited while reviewing the expedition. Great review as always.
I’m mad they got rid of the hidden storage behind the screen. My 2015 Tahoe LTZ has 260k miles on it and I’m looking at the new Suburban and that’s my only complaint. I use it all the time and I keep a couple things in there, and it’s great because I can lock it as well.
@@pawelwisniewski6849 Yeah the suburbans have the movable console too. I just have a certain budget and the ones in my budget typically don’t have that option.
Love that you finally did a video on the Yukon! I'm in the market to trade my minivan to finally get a SUV - looking at Yukon XL vs Escalade ESV (I have four growing boys). If you have input, would appreciate any feedback. Would love to see an Escalade ESV on your channel!
I just ordered a 2022 Yukon xl SLT diesel. 4 kids in diono car seats and a quad stroller makes my 17 yukon tiny. Thanks for having a video with car seats in the vehicle it's rare to find.
I thought the same but realized there's no head rest for the 3rd row middle seat most likely so the driver has no obstructions when using their rear view mirror.
I agree about the front end . . the designers could have cropped the front of the hood to slope down a little and move that horizontal edge trim down to the "new" top of the grill ( making the grill a few inches shorter ) It wouldn't stand out so much that way. I guess they WANT it to stand out !!! I don't mind all the tiny chrome pieces throughout the grill - it's just TOO BIG !!! I'm waiting to see if they do something like this in the fall to the 2024 models, then I'll buy one. GREAT video, as usual !!!
After watching this one and the ford expedition. If I was purchasing I would 100% go for the expedition. It seems a lot more family friendly, with the access to the 3rd row, space etc.
Nice review, I think your perspective of Mom Review is good but also give so many details many reviewers glance over. Great job! Only thing I might suggest is talking suspensions differences in trim models as that does really effect the ride. Husband and I just purchased a 21 Denali and was also cross shopping the GM stable mates (Tahoe z71, Yukon at4, and Escalade) and 18/19 used versions of these too (they crazy with prices these days! We personally thought the new Denali rode so nice and to us was worth the tech upgrades you get in the higher price. Not sure were you are in MO, but my husband just accepts a job for UMHC so if you’re in that area key a look out for tri colored standard length. Great job again!
Can you please try to do a video on the Dodge Durango or any Jeep .. im a mom of 1 but looking for an SUV or bigger car since I see a few more little ones in the near future
Im not even sure GM is targeting families for this vehicle anymore. My wife and I have 4 kids. They play sports, and we tow boats and snowmobiles. We have a 2015 Yukon XL SLT that is the perfect vehicles for us, but it has been terribly unreliable with just this year needing a new transmission, front struts and now the rear AC doesn't work. So in looking at replacing, we need to come up with a monthly mortgage payment to get into one of these. On top of that, GM completely missed the mark with the rear entertainment. Our current Yukon has a front and rear flip down tv screen with DVD player. Well GM has replaced that with only two front seat head rest screens exactly where every kid is going to place their hands everytime they climb in and out of the car, and where every forward facing toddler in a car seat loves to place their feet. And for the passengers in the 3rd row, sorry you are just out of luck. Also, they removed the DVD player so you have to stream everything. Want to plug in a Firestick or Roku device? Well that power to it will turn off at every light if you have it plugged into the 110 outlet and you are now forced to pay for the Hotspot as well unless you download everything ahead of time. Another observation, when you flip the middle row up to climb into the back, then fold them down, they will be all the way slid forward. It will be a challenge for any kid to lift the handle and slide the seat backwards. Again, I'm not sure who GM's target audience is with this vehicle, but it doesn't appear to be younger families.
I’m so glad you wrote this. I’m looking at a used 21 Yukon Denali but we have 4 kids and I prefer the bench. All your complaints were all my concerns. DVD system, 3rd row can’t see it, Roku stick can be a nightmare on the road, and most importantly difficulty getting in and out of 3rd row. Does the second row even slide for more legroom ? I may keep my choices between expedition max, Lincoln nav l or wagoneer L
Mom bun clearance lol. YOU ARE NOW my new favorite car reviewer. (Husband who wants mom bun clearance so mom does not touch my car ceiling with her hands)
I think if you want to say that this car has everything...uummmmm, not really comparing to the escalade! Sooo I'm excited for to review on the Escalade! Keep it up! 🙌👏🙏
Hello Kelly, We are trying to decide between a Yukon Denali XL, the most equipped or the new Grand Wagoneer, it is a gift for my wife and I want to see if you can help us to make the best decision. Thank you
Wowwwwwwwww your soooooooo right about the front end when looking at it from the side, somehow they messed that up,its a HUGE truck though, great review my dear🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Surprised no DVD/Blueray player for the kids. Thank you for this! Looking to upgrade our 2015 Yukon XL Denali and can’t decide what we want...but NO minivan 😁
ours has the rear entertainment option, which is great. it has 2 hdmi ports and a full power outlet so we bought a $50 roku streaming stick for one of them and the kids can stream netflix, disney plus, youtube, youtube tv, noggin, hulu, etc right on the screens attached to the back of the front seats
So my kid sits in the 2nd row, child lock is flipped but child likes to toggle the power locks. How can I prevent that in this SUV? BTW just got the SUV TODAY!!!
So one of the things I didn’t like about the expedition max was the visibility between the 1st and 2nd row so you’re saying the new Yukon’s have the same issue? Did you feel like the expedition had better visibility?
Chrome makes the grill look busy and overwhelming…… the grille especially. I do like the infotainment screen built into the dashboard and center panel. Some modern designs look like they built all the technology and features then asked……how are we going to control and display the information and added the tablet after….2020 Ford Explorer perfect example…12” tablet that doesn’t have a way to turn to landscape and reduce the busy look of the center instrument panel. Mom Bun…..never heard that…..funny You are not the only reviewer to comment on forward view when parking. I say like taxiing a 747 airliner into a glass of water. I would strongly recommend that you find pull thru parking spots. HUD sounds good but having to spent the Denali premium and the. The $11,000 Denali Premium package. I believe I specced out a 4X4 Denali regular length and came in around $85K. Make a serious note especially if the build date is after around May 2021…….four fairly common items are being removed due to the worldwide computer chip shortage. 1. Auto Start/Stop……$50 credit…..which I would pay $50 to have the option of removing or disabling. 2. Wireless Charging pad 3. Steering column lock. This is a anti theft feature so torn on that one. Sorry only three…..Auto Stop is not necessary but keep the lower fuel economy in mind. Great review and I say get Denali….go big or go Home. I don’t tow anything but the tow hitch receiver can be a good place to tether my dog to at outdoor events…..ask me how I know….he can be tethered but enough slack in the leash to crawl under the vehicle in the shade. With the V8 expect about five-six hours of good comfortable ride while still keeping a good fuel safety margin. Haven’t had opportunity to test a 2021 Yukon yet but With the last generation (2015-2020) had rentals and about five solid hours. Comfortable ride, smooth and excellent commanding views from drivers seat. Last rental was a Yukon XL and with limited cargo I was able to fold both 2nd and 3rd. row flat and my dog had pretty much the entire back to himself..Even tethered to the seatbelt he had room to stretch and move his seating/sleeping positions.
I just can't get past the price of some new suvs these days...This one costs more than my house! Would love to see a tour of the new pathfinder when it comes out 😊
They give major discounts on them! We bought a brand new 2020 Yukon Denali XL Ultimate. List price $85+K and paid no where near that towards end of the summer;)
Door is so far away you can barely reach it to close the door. Seat looks long enough it fully supports your legs.. looks super comfy The touch screen and all the shiny gloss plastic is going to be a nightmare to keep clean
You totally should make a tour to the F150. It’s not the typical mom’s car but I love your reviews and I if yo think about, the 2022 Expedition will take tons of elements from the F150 and it will be the absolutely best family car!! Please get an F150! Love you!

Do these Yukon XL have auto-start that has a heat interior setting feature? Or do owners have to buy an aftermarket auto heat interior?
Damn I thought I was the only one😂
I always saw the GM's SUVs more as a family's teens/big children hauler than small kids/babies hauler.

Only thing I want more for this car is 35’ screen like the new Escalator.
as a kid that does car tours i love your car tours
What would you pick for your family between the Yukon XL and expedition Max? You seemed to be more excited while reviewing the expedition. Great review as always.
I also would be curious about this!! Deciding between the two!
Me too!
Me three!
I just listened to a podcast interview on mint arrow - and she said that she prefers the expedition Max for large suv
I enjoyed seeing you build your own Yukon XL at the end of the excellent review video.
I just can’t imagine buying a vehicle this large with no latch in the third row. Thanks for your thoughts, Kelly.
I love the design, both in and out, very elegant and constrained.
I freaking love you! lol bun clearance, size 5 diapers, huge coffee, your speaking. My language. Finally a realistic woman car review!
I’m mad they got rid of the hidden storage behind the screen. My 2015 Tahoe LTZ has 260k miles on it and I’m looking at the new Suburban and that’s my only complaint. I use it all the time and I keep a couple things in there, and it’s great because I can lock it as well.
Get gmc with movable center console and there is a hidden storage
@@pawelwisniewski6849 Yeah the suburbans have the movable console too. I just have a certain budget and the ones in my budget typically don’t have that option.
I would LOVE a tour of the Lincoln Navigator
Love that you finally did a video on the Yukon! I'm in the market to trade my minivan to finally get a SUV - looking at Yukon XL vs Escalade ESV (I have four growing boys). If you have input, would appreciate any feedback. Would love to see an Escalade ESV on your channel!
If you can afford it, go for the Escalade!it’s really not that much more money and the upgrades are worth it 💯
which one did you end up getting ?! ☺️
I just ordered a 2022 Yukon xl SLT diesel. 4 kids in diono car seats and a quad stroller makes my 17 yukon tiny. Thanks for having a video with car seats in the vehicle it's rare to find.
One thing that would help is trunk measurements of width height and depth so we can see if different strollers etc will fit 😊
Yasss! The front does look smushed! I have a 2021 Tahoe and it looks the same 😂
My wife really wants the 2021 yukon denali, but we can't afford it. I'm so broke I can't even pay attention
How is it legal to have no head restraint in any seating position? It shouldn’t be!!
Fun review as always!
I can watch your reviews all day! Thanks hun!! Just what us moms need!
2021 is what my wife and I are looking for.

The 2021 Yukon Denali Regular length is beautiful. The XL is not the best, but the regular is perfect.
I agree the squished front end isn’t my favorite. The Yukon looks better than the 2021 Tahoe though.
Yay!!! I love that you but the graco rear facing 👏👏👏 that helps me see the space!!
Keep it up! 🙌👏🙏
I have a tour of the escalade on my channel! check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/BdViwwa3P-4/v-deo.html
Hello Kelly,
We are trying to decide between a Yukon Denali XL, the most equipped or the new Grand Wagoneer, it is a gift for my wife and I want to see if you can help us to make the best decision.
Thank you
On our 3rd bus & love them can’t see going smaller. Drove it through Boston no problem today. I back up into tight spaces.
I LOVE your honesty!
So good looking! The car to. Love from Sweden. Nice review
I’m gonna need to start seeing how the double BOB fits in these cars now that I have one. Chevy traverse video next!
She has done one! It’s a 2020 on her IGTV
GM needs to do something about their BYO tbh I don’t even consider their vehicles because they have so many options!
Love the look of it but GD it’s so expensive
Wowwwwwwwww your soooooooo right about the front end when looking at it from the side, somehow they messed that up,its a HUGE truck though, great review my dear🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Beautiful GMC Denali is nothing wrong with that that's perfect
Can you do an in-depth tour and a test drive of a used, 2017 Honda Odyssey Touring eight-passenger minivan next?
I always learn SO damn much from your videos! Thank you❤️
Can you do a Subaru Ascent tour? I love them so much but never see genuine reviews!
Check her Instagram account. She has one either in her highlights or IGTV.
@@n00dlie I found it hidden on IGTV! Thank you!!
Kelly we love you and your reviews
Would you take a standard size Yukon Denali with the bells and whistles or a Wagoneer?
I don't love the size of that chrome grill. Love the XL! We have a suburban and it's great for older kids.
I have the same one, no complaints
At $87,000 if you got a 0% interest loan for 60 months your payment would be $1450 a month. Who is affording these vehs?
So my kid sits in the 2nd row, child lock is flipped but child likes to toggle the power locks. How can I prevent that in this SUV? BTW just got the SUV TODAY!!!
I'm wondering if I can comfortably fit 2 adults, 1 carseat, 1 stroller, and 2 great danes.
So one of the things I didn’t like about the expedition max was the visibility between the 1st and 2nd row so you’re saying the new Yukon’s have the same issue? Did you feel like the expedition had better visibility?
Quick question, do you think getting in elderly will be hard?
Chrome makes the grill look busy and overwhelming…… the grille especially.
I do like the infotainment screen built into the dashboard and center panel. Some modern designs look like they built all the technology and features then asked……how are we going to control and display the information and added the tablet after….2020 Ford Explorer perfect example…12” tablet that doesn’t have a way to turn to landscape and reduce the busy look of the center instrument panel.
Mom Bun…..never heard that…..funny
You are not the only reviewer to comment on forward view when parking.
2. Wireless Charging pad
3. Steering column lock. This is a anti theft feature so torn on that one.
Sorry only three…..Auto Stop is not necessary but keep the lower fuel economy in mind.
Great review and I say get Denali….go big or go
Home.
You rock & i dont mean the ice cream.
Superb video. My son is 18month.
When you’re talking about the storage in the door are you saying cubby or cuvey?
The mom bun test 👌🏼
I would love to see a Ford fashion se. I’m turning 15 in a few months and this is the car I want.
Sick of all these moms with 2 kids who "need" to drive these boats who don't know how to drive such large vehicles!
The mom bun clearance, Yasaaasss!
Interesting. Most reviewers prefer Denalis ride to Expedition. You said the reverse. How quiet is it on highway?
Sunshades amuse me. Never had issues as a little tike without'em. 🤷
Door is so far away you can barely reach it to close the door.
Seat looks long enough it fully supports your legs.. looks super comfy
The touch screen and all the shiny gloss plastic is going to be a nightmare to keep clean
If anyone is feeling generous, this is #1 on my list 😂. A Toyota Corolla with 3 kids in car seats isn’t exactly working well lol
Love the video. Would love to see a Jeep Grand Cherokee tour 🤍
Love! Would you considered doing a video on the GMC Acadia?
You totally should make a tour to the F150. It’s not the typical mom’s car but I love your reviews and I if yo think about, the 2022 Expedition will take tons of elements from the F150 and it will be the absolutely best family car!! Please get an F150! Love you!
To much bad things
Those cup holders are awful and no sun shades is ridiculous in this price range. Also my kids booster is kept in place with anchors so that’s a bummer too. I like the expedition much better. Great review Kelly!
I’d love to see some reviews of a 5 passenger SUV with ceiling vents! Does one exist? 😃
this is the one that i need.. very comfortable it's roomy. that"s y i like GMC
nice family car. suntrup that's down the road from me we are from st charles.😊
Made it to the NO SUNSHADES?! omg... moving onto the ford expedition! Thankgod for carmom
happy I could help!
The cup holder commentary is very funny.
I love this SUV! I am in between a Tahoe and this, but not the XL version. I can't wait to finally purchase my mom car.
The only problem I have with the Tahoe is that all the safety features do not come standard. I ordered the diesel Yukon.
What if they still have the HD Version of this Yukon That would be The Yukon XX. Their lineup will be Yukon, Yukon XL, and Yukon XXL.
