I don't hate the dubs in general, but since the volume has to be quite low to avoid copyright issues I usually rely on the subtitles to understand what are the characters saying in the video (also Im not a native english speaker so it also helps me understand). And I really like the japanese voice acting.
Generally I will watch everything subbed since Japanese VAs emote and get into character much better overall. It's a more respected and coveted career over there so it's not surprising. However, some dubs are definitely the better experience. I can't comment on Konosuba but I agree wholeheartedly with Dragon Ball Z. The sub japanese voices were all high pitched and nasally so I couldn't watch Super. It's the same for Rurouni Kenshin for me. The dub is the ideal experience. Grown men being voiced by women just doesn't work for me. When it's children I get it but not adults. FMA 2003 had such an all-star cast in its dub that they went out of their way to bring all of the voice actors back to reprise their roles in FMA: Brotherhood with the exception of Alphonse. The man was just too old to do the young boy voice he did when he was younger. When it comes to sub vs. dub I take it on a case by case basis. A lot of western-inspired anime like Cowboy Bebop just work better in English dub.
If you haven't watched it yourself, I'd highly recommend watching the dub. Aqua's VA has a higher, more shrill voice than the Japanese actress. Also, Kurama's VA does a very good job, especially in conveying his exasperation with Aqua.

I'll say it too... I want Goku to sound like a man 😂 so i prefer dub too.. i watched OG naruto n Doraemon in dubs as a kid, so switching to Jp was a bit weird for me.. (Is the comment even related to Konosuba anymore🤔😆).. anyway love the similarities of kazuma to kyle, dub or sub prefer? Dub is also good but the JP VA's feels natural to character as irl themselves.. 😆
I would check out a dub reaction. The first time I watched the show was in dub, and even though I didn't have much of a taste back then, I still think Konosuba has one of the better dubs, one of the bests, even.
I really like both the sub and the dub of Konosuba. I keep rewatching the show somewhat regularly and I don't really have any gripes about either of them. I guess hearing Aqua whine is a little more annoying in the sub version but that's how it's supposed to be anyway: incredibly annoying.
Agree with the panty and stockings dub making more sense. But that might be the only one i know that does. In cyberpunk edge runners though dub had different accents, the japanese sub voice is used for some of the side characters.
Wouldn't switch, we normally check out an episode we've seen in dub because they're are some great dubs out there. We would just record said episode as a reaction though.
If you are going to do a dup reaction I'd do one of the later episodes with all the characters rather than just episode 1. I personally find the dup equally as good as the sub. There is some very solid VA work from the English cast which is not always the case.
as far as dbz dubs go, when the dbz movie "battle of gods" came out i saw it via a pirated spanish dub'd version with english subs, and the voices for that dub where perfect for every character. better than any other version. it's wildn how good it is.
Several years late but Generally The Spanish (specifically Mexican) dubs for DBZ in total are the absolute best. Mainly because Mexico and most of S.America have loved that franchise with all their hearts as far back as the 80s.

Welcome to the Castle Anthrax. Sir Galahad really wanted to face the peril! As for sub v dub, if I like the anime enough to watch it twice I try to do the opposite of my first watchthrough. With older animes like Konosuba, I'll watch dub first, especially so I don't miss any details trying to read the subtitles. If it's current I'll watch sub first. New seasons (like Danmachi s4 just ended) I'll also watch sub first. I don't buy the original emote better stuff so many say. Many of the US VAs do US animation too and no one complains about their emotions there. And yes, some things get lost in translation but that happens with subtitles too. I think everyone should sample both and make their own call. Both the sub and dub for this are really good, and if you ever did a rewatch on your own, I'd pick dub for the experience. Megumin's spinoff series starts next month I believe and we'll be getting season 3 of this soon as well. The light novels for this show are fantastic as well. It is a finished series light novel wise so I'm hoping the anime will get there as well. Enjoying your reactions so far!

Not really fan of Konosuba Dub, not because is worst or anything like that, it's just I'm used to their voices in Japanese. Now, if you guys plan to watch Kaguya-sama love is war, you have to try at least a couple of episodes in the dub version because god bless that wonderful english dub.
With regard to your thoughts about rewatching in dub, it never hurts to give it a try. Like you said despite all the illogical hate, there are some genuinely good dubs out there. Just ignore the toxic sub community. Although I prefer dub myself, I also love to rewatch shows in sub and can undoubtedly say that sub is undeniably, absolutely superior but that doesn't mean the dub is as atrocious as the toxic sub community make it out to be. It's just become a culture to unreasonably hate on dub due to a desperate attempt to fit in. Trust me.
I blame older siblings and cousins who grew up with 90s dubs... They're trying to protect others from bad dubs, but don't know how good they've gotten 😂.

Konosuba dub is AMAZING. I recommend watching up to this episode so you get to hear all the main characters. You can tell the actress for Darkness really enjoyed the role!

The dub is great, the sub is also fantastic. It's hard to pick between them. I give the sub a slight edge because of the "freedom" it had (they let VAs ad-lib stuff, and it led to some great running gags, which the dub does a good job of replicating, but it's just a bit more stilted). You can't really go wrong with either, though.
The dub is definitely worth it, its one of the few dubs out there that is imho AAA / S+ tier quality, Aqua crying in dub is even more hilarious and as an added bonus some of the jokes in English are more dirty and relevant for an English speaking audience. Also hilariously you can get the "give me back my panties" title in the Konosuba mobile game when you reach enough affinity with Chris XD
I like dubs. I am able to watch dubs without having to keep watching the screen like a hawk. If I don't watch subbed anime with full focus, I can miss some of the finer details of the animation while trying to read the subtitles. With dubs, I don't have that problem. However, we come to this channel primarily for your reactions. I typically watch the anime episodes before watching your reaction videos. So, I think that it doesn't really matter, so long as the dub is good, of course.
I think the Konosuba dub is quite good. I don't tend to like dubs, but the English cast captures their characters well. If you are only going to watch a single episode of the dub, I'd suggest an episode like 4, 5, or 6 to watch (with 5 probably being the best choice for a one-off). The show really shines once the main cast is fully assembled. All that said, the Japanese version's cast is better, but the difference is slight. If I could only watch the show with one audio track, it would be the original cast.

1, there are some great dubs out there. 2, it wouldn't replace and wouldn't be complete. It would be an additional reaction to an episode we already watched subbed.

Konosuba dub is actually great, and everyone loves it too. However first experience I think better go with sub, due to the insanity of Kazuma voice actor doing his adlibs.
i recommend the dub, it's got some good actors. my favorite of the dub cast below. Cristina Vee is Darkness and Erica Mendez is Megumin in the dub. do with that what you will.

@@TheGenreVerse 4, 5, and 6, relate to each other. I'd highly recommend all 3. The character introduced in 4 is absolutely hilarious.
Konosuba dub is actually great, and everyone loves it too. However first experience I think better go with sub, due to the insanity of Kazuma voice actor doing his adlibs.
We wouldn't switch, it'd be a bonus reaction to an episode we already watched.
i recommend the dub, it's got some good actors.
