Thanks so much for posting this , I really think this is vintage Earl Klugh I think his playing really is at its best during this period I discovered him by chance when my sister bought home an album called "Blue Note Live at the Roxy" in 76 his playing blew me away I always hope some1 who may be filmed this would put it on UA-cam. Although his technical skill is still the same as it ever was there's something very special about his composition & magical playing during these years , God bless earl !!

Thank you for sharing this tape. The song is entitled "Cry A Little While" composer Earl Klugh from the album "Magic In Your Eyes" a very beautiful album late 70's I think. The bassist, Hubie Crawford I think was also from Earl's hometown of Detroit. I believe Hubie may have passed away in recent years.

Thanks for the info! I'll edit the title.I also posted Dr. Macumba from the same TV show a few years ago, and there's a lot of info on that page... 'Hubie" is from Detroit and has passed away, yes. I'm very sad about that since I'm a bass player and I wish I could talk to him about his tone and the specific bass he plays on that TV show. RIP Mr Crawford.

I, for one, found your selection of this magic. No need to express regret or sorrow when the share is a well-intentioned.

I think this is from the absolutely breathtaking Soundstage performance which you can see in its entirety at ua-cam.com/video/RwLvhqDo57Y/v-deo.html. I had it on VHS and cassette for many years (WXRT-FM used to simulcast all of these shows). Thankful that someone recovered and posted it.
