Thank You! I recognized him right away but it was driving me crazy remembering what his name is, Darryl Dybka. From the old Detroit days along with Gene Dunlap on drums and Hubie Crawford on bass. This is a rare treat!
the bass player is the inimitable Hubie Crawford, he appears on a number of Earl Klugh Albums and toured a lot with Earl. I think Hubie was from Detroit and probably grew up with Earl (Like Ray Parker and others) He passed away a few years ago.
Who cares how it looks; it sounds awesome! I have an OLD cassette of this program that I taped off the radio simulcast almost forty years ago when it was first broadcast. This sounds WAAAYYY better. Thanks for posting!
Very sad to hear that... I wish I could have talk to Hubie. I dig his playing and tone, and I would have loved to know the details about the bass he's playing in this video, etc. Is there someone I could reach to have this kind of info?
Yeah, Me ! hahaha...I got him his endorsement deal w/Leo Fender @ Music Man, practically, well, DID live with the guy on tours in the 80's. Sadly he was 'let go' when he just did not 'update' his style a' la Marcus Miller, Louis Johnson who were dong Earl's records then. And Mickey's mental health-well-being went to crash and burn in about '83. He froze to death on the porch of the homeless center in Pontiac Mi, NY Eve 2015. But two kinder, gentler souls I have never known.
DJewel Coles: wow, I'm glad to know it's your brother playing keys! He's a great player!! Do you remeber (or maybe your bro) who's the bass palyer? I'm a bass player myself and would like to know more about the guy playing in this vid. Thanks for commenting! :)
Darryl Dybka.............he is an asset to any band and then some!!!
Thanks for posting this!!!!

Go Darryl ! Enjoying it.
Yes, I was Tour Director back then, Hubie has passed, as well as Mickey Roquemore, last year. Very sad.
