Thanks for this. I remember them well. My father was sales manager at a Toyota dealership here in Australia (...and, yes...the Super Saloons definitely had factory air in this country). I vividly remember the first day he brought one of these home. It was metallic emerald with biscuit coloured trim....and, yes again...I remember those automatic door locks kicking in at 8 mph. Actually, just checking Google images...that car was a '79 model...slightly different grille .Never knew that they were assembled in Australia. The paint jobs and trim seemed to be too luxurious for our local factory at that time. The handling was quite OK for what they were....(at least on good roads...as you said)...namely sedate chariots for older well to do buyers Anyway, happy memories of a really beautiful 1970s car
John, this is great and a total unicorn and rare in any market. Back in 1976 it must have been a revelation to those driving poorly equipped European and British contemporaries. At this stage Toyota had the build integrity and quality but not yet the brand appeal they have now. A lovely piece of their history and great that it been so well preserved. An LS430 and Toyota Crowns, perfect bookends!
Certainly in build quality. I never mentioned in the video but I did have a Rover SD1 2600S. I really loved it but the Crown is just better built and engineered. No competition
You guys are wonderful

Great to see an Irish channel here, well done.
My best friend’s Dad had 3 Super Saloons in the 70’s all black, lots of chrome. Class cars.

Would it make you jealous of I told you the Crown and LS430 live side by side in the same garage!
@@JohnsGarageIreland perfect two car luxo barge garage!
Nice video Dont forget the Toyota Cressida which was only marginally smaller than the Crown
Fingers crossed I might get offered one
インパクトあるね~!其れからオーソドックスなスタイルですね~!
Nothing like a lovely big horn.
Sweet ride
What a cool car!
Absolutely 💯
When you look back at a 1976 Mercedes, audi or British Leyland offering they were a decade ahead.
Certainly in build quality. I never mentioned in the video but I did have a Rover SD1 2600S. I really loved it but the Crown is just better built and engineered. No competition
I had 11 of them at one stage. mainly for parts. wish i kept them all. had a fair few issues with carbi problems!
Very good and very nice car .
Thank you!
Dunno if you got the KE70 - best Corolla, but the rust!
Damn, THE RUST.
Same with the 310, and 910 Nissans.
Rust City.
I remember dad having one, 124aza, big gold bus. Limerick reg, must have come out of o maras
Heated rear window button was pull type as opposed to push, and rear audio control
Rear audio controls are amazing for the time
It was bought in o maras someone in adare co limerick bought it o mara is on the keyring
Don't forget the Nissan Laurel
Oh now if I could get a Laurel that would be amazing
I had one and fitted a perkins diesel plus a manual gearbox (as the original had blown) ran it till it rotted
Standard practice back in the day, see also 2.8 Nissan diesel engines
The Toyota Crown competed with some of the more elegant models like the Mercedes,Benz Cadillac , Dataun Fairlady.

Old Toyotas like that were actually very well made.
They kinda turned to shit in the mid-nineties.
