I landed with about 200 other troops around 1981 in the Azores in a C-141 so I doubt this was the airfield. Besides this match's no picture I have of this port. But what a beautiful place. I hated sitting backwards on those aircraft.
Try Juancho E. Yrausquin airport on Saba. You can see the fish in the sea from the plane, when it taxies to the end (or start) of the runway. It has not more than a metre or two to spare on each end of the runway.
+Chris Z., I wouldn't want to live in a house on the flight path to or from São Jorge Airport, but as a passenger, Saba is far scarier because the strip there (you can't call that a "runway"!) is only 400 metres long - that's 1000 metres less than in São Jorge. The airports in Pasto, Colombia, and in Mangalore (not to be confused with Bangalore), Calicut and Aizawl, India are also on top of plateaus bordering sheer cliffs, but their runways are all long enough to receive Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 flights (Calicut even has 777 operations). The new airport of the remote island of Saint Helena, to be opened next year, also promises to be thrilling.
this is a STOL Airplane it only requires 550 meters of runway length, to land, as there is no parquing apron or runaway threshold the plane has to turn at the end of a 1200 meteres runway.. and taxi back to the passengers whatever the case may be due to the winds. terminal.
Don't under-run it either.
Nice, but it's like landing on a table :) and I really don't want to have a house down there.

Hatchetman6971 you are talking about Lajes Air base
@@marksvids1156- on Terceira Island. Lived there 1967 - 1968 and graduated high school there

Yes, you are totally mistaken. The landing was in Lajes, a 3000 meters long runway which is also rented to USA as an airbase.
Good to remember the old SATA's ATP :D Now the flights are in Q200
Impressive landing strip. There's even a house below the small cliff on the end of the runway. Hope no pilot ever overshoots.
You're thinking of Lajes, still a part of the Azores though.
Hi! Do you have this in DVD or Blu-Ray? Or any other of SATA? Thank you.
Check our website and subscribe to our newsletter... We may have something in 2014...
***** Will do. Thank you very much :)
I think this title is more appropiate with Saba Juancho E. Yrausquin Airport (IATA: SAB, ICAO: TNCS), but love your movies though :)
I somehow don't think that you fully understood the title as it was intended t be understood...
Impressive maneuver.
wow!!! first!! id like to thank my dog (rex), my mom and my family it took us years but we finally made it, i think!
Is there any third-party add on for this airport??
Cool I wanna try that in FSX...looks fun lol
do not overrun any runway
in the addon fly tampa st.maarten you had an airport that names saba the runway is 400 metres long do not overrun the rwy!
Is that the runway the airtransat ran out of fuel and glided to?
+prankmonkey650 That was Lajes, Terceira
What is the reason for posting any other video on to UA-cam? What a stupid question.
What's the ICAO?
Pista curta e perigosa, me lembrou Lukla !!:))
Hey mum, someone knocked at the door...
Oh my god, it's a BAe !!!
crash landed in a (braniff) dc-6 on san miguel in 1963...
The best!
It is quite clear. There is a lot of so said "airports" in this world, !smaller than a karting track¡
i guess it was in another Runway, a lot bigger. But it was in azores too
That's not a runway, it's a bandaid strip. Get ready to bail guys.
Maybe some sort of barrier ???? Or at least a retaining net at the end!

terminal.
Well, you might overrun, just make suree your still in the air and have enough speed
:D
O_O never wanting to land @ that airport! lol
Okay, I will reach into my pocket and pull out a a330 and try not to overrun the runway :)
LOL...Even the GPWS was about to shit a brick. ( " minimum's...MINIMUM'S" )
Why is there a pedestrian crosswalk on the runway?
😂😂😂😂😂 are u serious
it can't be in the middle

He means what's the ICAO of the airport bro..

👍
Yikes, thats one helluva drop-off.
Reminds me of Saba
Need Some Arrest cables Here... lol
I would believe it to be more dangerous on take off,
NO IT ISNT THAT RUNWAY..THAT LANDING WAS LUCKY WAS AT DAWN
wow straight drop off in someones house if you over run it
International Civil Aviation Organization
You have obviously never landed in FLW.
Bloody ridiculous building an airport there; everything should arrive by sea!
That's not a house.
And the reason for posting this video is???? Is it not a given that you should not overrun any runway????
Wow...I thot they were going to die!
:D
Looks worse than it is
