    Amazing condition. I've owned a 1980 928S for 4 years and have done a lot of research to get it sorted. There are so many things in your video that I didn't know. It's one of the most informative 928 videos on UA-cam. Thanks for sharing some of your 28 vehicles worth of knowledge!

      Thanks Joseph! Glad you enjoyed it :) when it comes to 928’s there is so much to cover it’s ridiculous. Yours sounds like it must be a nice one, they are one of those cars that are extremely satisfying to improve and get right, because when they are how they should be, they drive amazingly. In my humble but not entirely unbiased opinion of course! Thanks for watching!

      Thanks @T Kong ! I really appreciate your comments, it is very hard trying to squeeze in a lot of detail into a short video when talking about 928's because there are so many interesting features and points to note... You can probably tell I am a big fan. And sadly this car is now sold! :(

    I just looked up the 928 that I wanted to buy on the Internet. Then traveled by train to the Porsche car dealer in Sussex, England. Slapped my money down on the table, Sales dude gave me the keys and some books and paper work and I was gone in a haze of V8 growl and glory. I’ve never forgotten that day - @3:15pm May 25th 2002. The culmination of nearly quarter century planning and saving for my dream car, and 23 years after I saw my first Porsche 928 😊

    Currently trying to sort and fix a botched restoration done on the '78 my Grandfather bought to bang around in just before his death in 1994. I have always been an air-cooled Porsche man but I have thoroughly enjoyed discovering all of the early 928 quirks. Just look the door on an early model. You'll find typical elegant German over engineereing in the locks but the door panels look like they were assembled by guys fired from a Trabant factory!

    • @Auto_Funk
      @Auto_Funk  2 роки тому

      Yes their build quality/methods on the 928 is quite interesting, I actually think they are extremely well put together when you compare with anything else from '78. They must have seemed like they were from the future at the time, there is nothing else quite like them. How are you getting on with the resto? Does it run? Thanks for watching!

      @@Auto_Funk I like the most bare-bones manual everything on cars so you don't have electrical problems that are a nightmare to figure out. With yours it was like Porsche did all that work making it with aluminum doors, fenders and hood to keep it nice and light to appease a person like me, but then they weighed it down again with 12 way power seats with memory that slowly drains the battery and other junk that weigh it down to appease some soccer mom! What even are 12 way power seats? I only know of 6 way and 8 way and they're heavy when I take them out of cars.

    • @Auto_Funk
      @Auto_Funk  Рік тому +1

      @@slashmaster2 yep I know what you mean… the thing is all 928’s are inherently ‘heavy’ although still light compared to most modern cars. The lightest models are the earliest manual 4.5s with manual seats and I think some of them even had no AC but those models are ridiculously rare. 12 way adjustable seems a lot but trust me those seats are VERY comfy!!

  • @davidcontini7217

    Good advice and great looking car; but, but, but... concerning the originality of your car, please get rid of the non-original CUP2 wheels and replace them with the original Porsche 16 inch rims with the correct offset for the 928 S4.

    • @Auto_Funk
      @Auto_Funk  2 роки тому

      Thanks David!! You are totally right about the wheels… It has the original 16’s with the RDK sensors but I prefer the GTS cup wheels due to style but more importantly modern tyre availability as there is very limited on choice for correct sizes on the staggered 16's. In actual fact I believe I am right in saying that you can’t get a set of matching tyres from a single manufacturer across both axles and that is no good for me. So the 16s have to stay in the garage for a rainy day!
      Not that it makes any difference in this instance but the cup 2 wheels are original 928 GTS wheels so still genuine Porsche and not aftermarket.

    Hi there, I have never seen the S4 decal in a raised plastic form before, where could I get hold of that part? 928’sRus sell the sticker, but that certainly looks nice in a raised 3D font. Many thanks

    The 928S4 shouldn't have a dual exhaust pipe. It's either a 928GT/GTS muffler, or an aftermarket muffler.

    • @Auto_Funk
      @Auto_Funk  2 роки тому

      Hi David - All '91 cars regardless of S4 or GT had a GT exhaust (which is what this one is!) as a standard fit, certainly in RoW cars. That is the case here, a completely factory fitted exahust. Have a read up online to confirm...

  • @pcar928fan
    @pcar928fan 2 роки тому +1

    That is NOT the original “928 S4” logo. Someone produced those in the aftermarket. The original is a sticker.

    • @Auto_Funk
      @Auto_Funk  2 роки тому +3

      Hi James! Thanks for watching - Respectfully you’re wrong, it’s listed on a spec print off I had from Porsche when I owned the car. It was a special option “colour coded raised rear letters” or similar. I can’t check as I don’t have the paperwork but the Porsche part number for raised primed lettering taken from the ‘91 PET is 92855992101. Not sure if this was RoW spec which is why you may not have seen it in the US but it’s fairly common on the Euro cars over here…
