It was great to see the guards and their horses without the throngs of tourists mobbing them. I enjoy seeing all the pomp and tradition. 🇺🇸❤️🇬🇧

Never heard of this event. Just googled ajex parade to find out more about it...."In 1929, with the rise in Anti-Semitism and fascism in Europe, Jewish veterans grew concerned: a meeting was held in the East End of London and the Jewish Ex-servicemen's Legion was formed. The following year, they organised their first annual Remembrance Parade at Whitehall". Those words still seem to be relevent, in these troubled times, unfortunately. RIP and respect to all that they commemorated on this day. From a fellow brit.

Hi Colby! Thanks for the Info, I'm ashamed to say, in the 10 years I lived in the UK, I was based in London & I went to every Remembrance Day Cenotaph Ceremony, but I'd never heard of this Parade. I would've thought there should've been some mention in the News or Papers, there wasn't as far as I remember. But we know now. Enjoy the rest of your Week & Stay Safe.

@@vickyRoyalHistory Hello vicky. Yep i was living and working in central london during the late 80s and 90s and i never new of this event either. Surprising that none of our british media picked up on it because of its current relevence. Have to say it was qiute moving to hear the national anthem sung so strongly. Enjoy your day too and take it easy girl. lol.

Great Job Mr B! We got a Bonus! Horse Guard Change at Horse Guards. I must say though, The RAF Band Marching with out Music, through the Arch from Horse Guards Parade, I thought was very considerate of them, so the Troopers standing post didn't have to contend with Spooked Chargers. However, the Drums Starting up with the Band just out on the Road, level with the Sentry Box, sort of wasted their Consideration. The Horse threw up his head & the Trooper promptly retired him to the rear of the Box!
Like Colby I'd never heard of the AJEX Parade, another first this Week. So thankyou to Mr B for the Description & thank you to Colby, for the extra Info. I was aware there were Israelis in the RAF during WW2, 1 lost his life in the Battle of Britain, but it never occurred to me that those of the Jewish Faith, were spread through the British Armed Forces, but then I never wondered about any Religious Faith either. Now I come to think of it, there must have been Mormons in the USA Forces too. I do have to make mention of the Spectators, some of whom must be Family & Friends of the Veterans or the Fallen, but not all of them. The applause & respect shown by ALL Spectators, was extremely moving, especially at this time, when I fear Israel & people of the Jewish Faith, would appreciate a friend.
The Band of the RAF Regiment did a splendiferous Job with the Marchs, with a personal favourite as well, Old Comrades (Alte Kameraden) it's a brilliant March. As I saw people in the Parade in Naval Uniform, it's perhaps a little sad that their March list didn't include a March with a Naval Flavour, but I'm not Complaining. Great to hear so many Voices singing the UK National Anthem! Well done the RAF Band on March off!
To all the Police & Armed Forces Personnel, Great Job, Thank You.
To the Spectators, You Show the UK & the Rest of the World what decency & Respect is. You should be Very Proud of Yourselves, as we are Proud of You!
To the Veterans, "The Old Boys & Girls" of the Regiments & Service Arms, You've still got "it". Thank you for everything. Lest we Forget. We will remember them.

Hi Sugar! I'm sure you know, but just to be clear. The Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Cenotaph, is, unless it falls on a Weekend, the nearest Sunday to the 11th of November. This year, the 11th November was on a Saturday. So the Official Ceremony took place at 11am, on the 11th Day, of the 11th Month. The Significance of 11/11, is that that's the time & Day that Germany officially Surrendered in 1918, ending WW1, & the Guns fell Quiet. It's a very nice Myth, but it isn't quite True.
Germany did indeed surrender & they signed the Articles of Surrender in a Train Carriage. However, it took time for everyone to get the Word the War was over, the Guns didn't cease Firing for several days. In some of the Cemeteries & War Memorials, there's an inscribed Plaque, "Sacred to the Memory" recording the names of those poor unfortunates who died after the War Officially ended. The Allies decided to agree an actual Time, Day & Month of the End of the War. Hence 11am, 11th November.
Surrender was actually signed at about 2am, which was a silly time really, as many Units on both Sides, couldn't be contacted to advise the Ceasefire & End of the War.
This Parade, was held on the 19th November, 1 Week & 1 day after Remembrance Day. So it won't be on anyone's Remembrance Day or Remembrance Weekend Video, it hadn't happened yet. There are a number of other Parades that take place after the Official one. This is Vintage Mr B, he must have ears like Satellite Dishes, because he's always coming up with "Now for Something Different" Videos or he goes off on a "Field Trip" somewhere & comes up with things like this Parade, that no ones ever heard of, a few weeks ago it was The Band of the Gurkha Regiment, giving a Concert outside a Theatre, promoting a Movie about The Gurkhas. Enjoy the rest of your Week & Stay Safe.

Thanks Mr B. I was there marching past at 8:30. Thanks to all the coppers and bandsmen who gave up their Sunday so we could parade.
You have edited out Adon Olam, every Jewish boys favourite prayer sung rousingly as it signifies the end of the service . RAF Regiment Band played it a bit too reverently, RM Band in 2021 really bashed it out with panache.

Hi Nick! Thank You for Sharing this Parade with us! (Not that you had a lot of Choice lol) It was intriguing how it came about. I live in a Commonwealth Country & one thing you can say about the Brits, they never did & still don't differentiate between them selves & anyone else who joins with them by Skin Colour, Religious Faith or Politics. Everyone who fall are treated with the same Reverence & Respect. All those people who fell will not be forgotten, they'll be Remembered, all of them, perhaps not by name, but by their deeds. Veterans are highly Respected, God Bless them, each & every one.

Hello David, Please remember that the RAF, like the Army & RN, now accept Women as Front line Troops, so some of the Serviceman you see, maybe Servicewomen. As far as hair length goes, unless it is a Religious Faith Stipulation, hair is supposed to be no longer than Collar length. You still need permission "to Grow" Facial Hair, if it's due to Religious Faith, then it's Automatically Approved. You will also see some Service Personnel, wearing Turbans or Hijab (Female Muslims), they are allowed instead of Uniform Headwear, due to Religious Faith. This relates to Currently Serving Personnel.
You then have the matter of Reservists & Volunteer Bands. These people are not covered by the Stricter Rules of serving Personnel, for the very good reason that they are Part Time Soldiers, Sailors & Aircrew. They are ofcourse required to be Clean & Tidy when in Uniform, but it's acknowledged that thing like Hair, Tattoos, Body Piercings etc Will be from Time to Time Seen, reflecting the Majority of the Time, they are Civilians. When it comes to Volunteer Musicians they are accepted as they are or you don't have a Band..
Welcome to the New Age of Tolerance & Inclusivity in the Armed Services.
