LS Swap Playlist: • Jeep Wrangler LS Swap
Its time to get my Jeep Wrangler LS swap project finished! Im back in the garage trying to wrap this project up so we can hit the road (And trails).
In this video, we knock out a few things and start putting the Jeep back together.
For those of you who are new to the channel. I am installing a 5.3L chevy engine into my 2006 Jeep Wrangler. This is a DIY project, and so far its been pretty straight forward. I cant wait to fire this engine up and hear it roar.
I decided to make the next few steps a little easier/quicker by installing some products that are bolt on and designed for this swap. Exhaust routing can be difficult to do at home, Ben did it on his 6.4 Hemi swap however it took a lot of time and money. I chose to get the Hooker bolt on kit for my setup. Its designed for this swap, which means its easy and quick to install, as well as offering a very professional exhaust setup. The muffler and tailpipe kit is designed for a TJ, so i will have to add a small extension to work with my longer LJ, but it is going to sound amazing! The hooker mufflers have a very deep throaty sound, and paired with the 3" exhaust piping im sure my Jeep will turn some heads.
I also decided to use a swap specific radiator and fan combo from Flex-a-Lite. This aluminum radiator is drop in, ready to go! I should have no problems with cooling this larger engine, plus with the electric fan to free up some horsepower!
Stay tuned for the next video where i fire this engine up!! I do plan on swapping over to a new ECM setup, and ill tell you guys all about that in the next video.

“We banged for hours”!!! 😂😂😂
You guys are freaking awesome.
A family that wrenches and wheels together, you can't get much better than that.
The people want a test fire!
Yes we do
I can neither confirm nor deny a test fire has occurred since the making of this video😏
I wasn't expecting to see so many hose in this video.
You should already know I got hose...
@@JKGearandGadgets In different area codes?
Been a subscriber for a long time, amazing how you have come from rubbing peanut butter on a Jeep to freaking installing a engine. A skill set much greater than mine. It is always a pleasure to watch your (and Ben's) videos. Kudos to both of you guys for never taking shortcuts to get views and subscribers. It will pay off in the long run. Much respect to the both of you.
Rubbing peanut butter is pretty technical though.
A comparison cost of the two Jeeps would be good, I think Cassie's Jeep will stay close to Ben's after they both are done.
Pshhhhh
If you can't find a correctly shaped hose, you can put a stainless steel spring in the hose and when you bend it, it will keep it's shape. Worked for me on my LS swap. Love the videos!
Can't wait until the test fire . Good idea on the Hummer shifter , I like it . Your LJ is coming along nicely . Until next time take care and be safe .
You two have a successful career in youtube ahead of you. Thanks for the content
I have a nice garage with big boy parked inside and the best part is my wife fix everything on it 😍😍😍😍😍
Nice video guys 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
You guys make an awesome team! Keep on rocking it!
Nice video... I can't wait to see it running you guys Rock
Excited to see how your swap runs, sounds, and performs!!
Family goals 😌
Outstanding video . Coming along great . Fun to watch you both as always . Jeep wave from NC mountains
Enjoy these videos. Keep up the good work !
Love your videos! Best wishes on buttoning up the LS project!
Great vid Cassie, this thing'll be a beast when you're done, nice work.
Great video Jeep it up 👌🏻
I can’t wait to see this thing done. I like your cooling system setup. I might need to redo mine
Ben us a lucky man. Love watching these swap builds, keep it up
What a great couple you are!
Yup you heard it here first, "Theh Banged for Hours"
nice work you are almost there...
Great blog! Bangin pipes loose is always hard! 🤣🤣🤣
finally lol great video
Great episode! Yall crack me up! That jeep should Rip with a LS!
Can't wait! I think you'll have something to keep Ben honest!... 💪🏼👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Love it, love it, love it!!!
As a Mainland Chinese, thrilled to know Jeep is now partly owned by Dongfeng of China 🇨🇳
No likes 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Swap is coming along nicely.
Now not to start a fight here as I do watch both your channels, whose the better mechanic 😃
Ben has hoses in different area codes.... shifter btw is an H3 shifter (some might be wondering).
Hey guys ! Love your Jeep videos! I noticed y'all are wearing Crocs in every video.....I'm a Louisiana guy and have never Owned a pair.... Now b/c of y'all I went get my 1st pair last week crazy huh!😂 Keep up the informative videos 👍
Note to self . Bag and tag bolts. Looks good
Awesome project! Wish I could take my GTO 5.7 aluminum LS and throw it in my TJ. Probably take so much weight off the front of it
Test drive! Test drive! Test drive! (I wanna go on that test drive with you guys!)
Great thumbnail.
I’m sure y’all know but with v band clamps you need to hit torque then smack it with a mallet and torque again till you stabilize the torque
So, I'm a new subscriber for just a few days now. I'm Ben-ge watching ( ha , see what I did there?) video after video and not to sound like some absolute newbie but you two are impressive, super knowledgeable, well spoken . Again very impressed. Loving the vids. Keep up the good tutorials. Super helpful. Signed You Tube Mechanic # 100,000,001 :)
You two are cute...but when is Ben putting on the yoga pants and tank top?
Gonna have to add some cash to that offer 🤣
@@JKGearandGadgets ... and then there will be gofundme to raise more cash to counter whatever that offer is...
Great channel !
Ben...Next time you have Flash light duty, bounce the light off the roof vs doing a spot light..it will blend the area with usable light...Trust me bro, it's a Pro Tip I am sharing with ya lol...Happy to help Keep lighting Classy lo.
Noted!!!
Nice!!
Great video. Ben said bung hole! Lol
It's a good this being made Australia, have a look at some of the fourby we have over here there beast as
Hookers, Hose... all we need in this video is some wiring so we can invite the strippers!
Not Bad
Blinded by the light. What a great song. Oh yea Great info video also. Did you look at the B&M shifters.
Good Luck ,
Y'all got rhythm! LOL
Remflex makes nice header gaskets also
Looking good! Can't wait to see the wiring part of the swap. That would be my downfall I think. Won't be long now! Now for a diesel swap in the gladiator and the stable is complete.
In my experience, “Made in Australia” is a very good thing!
couple of things, get rid that fan controller and use a relay to control it with the ecm, I would get fittings for the trans cooler instead of worm clamps, lastly those just stick to using OEM header gaskets.
Awesome... hard to say this but is true the 4liter would have last longer than the LS.
Can you please put all the things you need to do an LS swap, I've been doing alot of research but I haven't really found much 😕
It seems like the hemi swap was easier. Can’t wait to see the LJ done.
The hemi swap was easier because it was already a swap that’s supposed to be in a jeep
Should of got those headers coated or wrap them to help keep the heat out of the engine bay, makes quite a big difference.
Great video you guys are hurting my feelings though, I miss my wrangle I'm going to have to get another one, I'm XJ and ZJing right now. I had a 88 yj and wranglers are so easy to modify.
Ben's photo bombing is "Exhausting" ;) see what I did there! All joking aside so glad to see this build happening again.!
Any reason for going with the radiator you chose over something like the advanced adapters radiator w/ built in trans cooler?
Was wondering if you know what wiresto leave going through the firewall for lights/ flashers horn ignition ect will a 5.3 ls swap using Holly terminator /harness max. So I can cut the rest and get rid of Jeep harness
Cant wait to see this up and running. If wanting a more factory look, should have just kept the stock TJ shifter. Just need a aftermarket cable to make it work with any gm 4 or 6 speed auto’s. I need to find one of those overflow tanks. Fits pretty good next to the rad.
Aren't the gate patterns different?
@@JeepGearGadgetsNovak is one of the few companies that offer a new bracket and possibly arm. Can check them out to see whats all needed to see if you want to go that route. Many guys on swap sites keep them to have the factory look.
Australian made means quality 😎
I’ve really enjoyed both yours and Ben’s builds. Great job!
great video guys! I like all content except those hideous Crocs
Did ya find the forth radiator bolt ? And looks good guys wonder who is gonna win the drag race 😂😂😂
would y wrap exhaust with exhaust heat shield wrap to stays like new over years
15:45 You do need to put it in park! Just put it in neutral with the ebrake on! :P
Kindle make sure u put in a new pinion nut.
Any way you guys could update the Hummer shifter you used ... with pics of how it turned out? Anyway to swap out the shifter knob with a smaller one?? thanks!
It’s about time! I’ve been waiting for soooooo long. 😢😢😢😢
I know I’m the worst😭😭😭
Won’t be long between the next few videos though!😊
@@JeepGearGadgets Awesome‼️
@@JeepGearGadgets Honestly darl, it's been that long between the last couple of uploads I almost forgot I subbed. lol
Oh... and don't worry about anything made in Australia. Especially car stuff. We take our toys & hp mods very, VERY seriously! =D
What would you recommend doing first, a swap or a lift kit?
How is the hummer shifter working? Planning my swap and I may do the same shifter.
Note to self: from now on use loppers to cut hoses.
How are you guys gonna make the factory jeep gauges work
JGG. Where's a power steering cooler ? And what about an engine oil warmer ! V.
Someone has been watching Hot Rod TV and Truck U on TV.
Hello guys, love what your doing, I'm not sure if I missed it, but what wire harness did yall go with and from what company? Thanks in advance if you respond, I know we all have a lot going on right now
Anyone else see the EVO J3's on the work bench?
Does Holley not have that exhaust kit anymore? i can’t find it
I hope you don't have cooling issues like I did. I did everything. A huge radiator, big pump, high flow thermo, 2600 cfm fan, water wetter,,,, uggh!
You need to try and squeeze a Lamborghini engine in your jeep. Just think how cool it would sound. The frount of the motor could stick through the grill.
I want to see Ben and you race 😂
It’s gonna happen!
Good Lord! She is gorgeous.
You guys make these swaps look so easy! I imagine if you know what your doing it is lol definitely looking forward to the wiring video. That’s probably going to be a nightmare.
What tires do you guys like to use offroad?
Use an ohm meter to figure out the wires.
Check out 4WD 24/7! Australia Great!
I have part #'s for perfect fitting hoses if you want them. No more temporary ones.
I'm interested in them part numbers. Thank you

I've been watching a number of LS Swap videos, because I'm planning one myself, and it doesn't seem that any of you ever get at all dirty doing this kind of work :-D. If I even touch my project vehicle, I get filthy...
I get this comment a lot... for me specifically, I work on the Jeep for a few hours at a time, and every 30-45 min, I have to go inside for something, get the kids a snack, etc. so 1) I am washing my hands pretty often even when working. 2) unless it’s a crazy dirty job, I try to stay clean. With little ones in the house, I don’t want to have small peices of metal stuck to me or my shoes, because they will step on it. Trust me, it’s happened before🤦🏻♀️ and don’t want to have fluids on my hands and touching their food or opening drinks or touching toys. The list goes on😂
Did I miss the video that went over the wiring?? I am in the middle of a ls swap on my tj. Did you go aftermarket ecu?
Wiring is next🤘🏼lots to go over
"I shouldn't have said that" 👀🤣
I'm doing a body swap..CJ body on a Tahoe frame
Whats Bens background? as far as mechanical
i guess your HEMI swapped one as lower cost and saving time you have done better than LS swap do you think?
"2 feet away".....Now I have to pee. 😆
How did Ben ever find you? You can make humans and do a LS swap!
Lol nice way to put it
Simp
Cringe
@@Jman149 i agree
She would have never got that rebuilt without Ben. She doesn't know enough about cars. Funny how long they have taken on this. Busy busy
Ratchet wrenches are a God send
But what we all wanna know is how did the peanut 🥜 butter do? 😋
