Make sure to install an air/oil separator that drains the oil back to the crankcase after it's been separated because you'll get excessive carbon buildup from the crankcase ventilation on the backside of the intake valves and ports. For truck engines, the torque band should be down low not up at 4100.

As an additional option: GM's relatively new 4.3l LV1 and LV3 V6's are space-conscious alternatives that are seriously worth considering. The new LV1/LV3 have ditched the architecture of the previous generations and gone straight to LT-based architecture. Out of the box, you're getting a 3.921" bore x 3.622" stroke (should sound VERY familiar for those that know LS1 dimensions), 285HP (5300 rpm) and 305 lb-ft (3900 rpm), and Scoggin Dickey Performance Center has already produced aftermarket cam grinds to sell to the market. Making this engine nearly bulletproof is relatively simple since the piston/con rod dimensions near exactly mirror original LS1 interrnal dimensions, meaning that sourcing bottom end parts (if you want) wouldn't be that hard to do. Has the same deck height as the LT's (9.025") which is also near exactly the same. TL;DR: Gm's new era 4.3l V6 offers just as much if not more power than the 4.8l V8 it replaces, and utilizes a lot of LS1 internal dimensions. Lots of untapped performance to be had there.

Now a used LS with 100k is $2500+ here in New England, not much less than an LT. Add in the cost of freshening up the LS and it comes out to the same cost as a low mileage LT. I'm no GM fan but these engines have proven themselves, far more than any of the Hemis. While the LT won't increase fuel mileage for everyday driving much, it should be a lot better when we tow our small camper with our JK. The 14-15mpg we get every day running 38s is pretty impressive, but the 8-10mpg with the camper really hurts. Economy isn't my main reason for doing a swap- power to turn the tires and pull the camper better is- but a little increase in MPG would be a nice benefit.

No real advantage to doing an LT motor other than the 8&10 Speed trans options, they’re more difficult to integrate, harder to tune, way less aftermarket support. The trans is the only Pro.
Not true at all. Integration is smooth using the RPM harness and we tune them ourselves. Aftermarket in terms of what, cams? The CVVT works so well I wouldn’t even look at cams for these, but that’s an opinion.
@@Exodus4x4I have never understood why people are scared of VVT and choose to delete it’s functionality or lock it out. I know you can’t get a choppy idle, but the perks is that you get a smooth, consistent power band. If I were to tune anything it would be the shifting of the eight speed transmission, and the engine could stay stock and still be a powerhouse.
Not sure on your thoughts, the gm engines and trans are the way to go in any jeep, you just have to get with the leaders in this field, beware of some that's doing these conversions
Yes, plenty of push rod engines that make great horsepower like SBC 400! Carbs, standard transmission and 6 cylinders also not antiquated and work great!

Make sure you search GM 5.3 class action law suit before going the LT route. And if you have to have an LT spend the money and take out the DOD camshaft and lifters. You know its an EPIC fail when a company reverses course and starts offering their new motors without DOD.
Yeah we don’t mention pricing in the videos because that can change over time. Currently this is $30k, which is quite a bit cheaper than it’s Hemi counterpart.

Be nice to hit the Lotto tonight...lol You would be building me a Bad Ass Jeep!
Anybody on here here about the hurricane engine built by the Germans? Heard it will replace both hemi and LS. Great vid btw.
that truck is way too pretty to take offroading. Give me a ragged out 20 year old TJ with upgraded wheels and 4" lift and a 5.3L truck swap. For $15k, you'll have more damn fun than anything else
4BT Cummins , still be best Jeep swap for trails and daily driving mpg by a huge margin. The V8 is for showmanship and drag racing only
What is that intro song from? I've heard it on another show for sure.
Can’t wait to see a 7.3 Godzilla in a Jeep Wrangler
Me too!
🤔I wonder what options they have available for the Jeeps that come with a manual transmission from the factory...
Depends on the year model. 18+ we can put the Hemi in it.
I’m waiting to see the Hurricane I6 swapped in.
The irony that you need to swap a Chevy motor into a Chrysler product.... Chrysler doesn't have decent engine to swap into their own platform lol
Did you used the displacement on demand system? Probably not. It just kills the engine anyways.
We always turn it off.
Yes, plenty of push rod engines that make great horsepower like SBC 400! Carbs, standard transmission and 6 cylinders also not antiquated and work great!
Is here room for a dual battery kit like the Genesis? And do you need to use electronic shift levers?
Will you be doing the LT engine swaps on JL/JT? Currently having a L83/8l90 in my 06 LJ. Would the L86/8l90 in my wife’s gladiator
I hope so, it’s nice to have options.
I bet you save more weight with the Lt swap verses the iron block hemi swap…..
A little bit.
What's your thought on Motech putting out their LT1 swap in a JL?
What do you think about the V6 Penastar Engine 305 plus horsepower 8 speed Automatic transmission around 380 fpt?? and very reliable and plenty around
Can a jeep commando have a similar engine swap? I have a commando with engine trouble. 3rd. engine, so I want something better
Is there a cost savings over the LS for the install?
6.2 baby.
What does it cost to put an L88 in a 2010 jk sport, changs axles etc.?
so whats the weight comparison? seems like a truck engine is much heavier than a car LS engine.
IF YOU ARE AT YOUR NEW AND IT'S DONE, HOW BOUT A TOUR.
Coming soon
Would like to have a standard jeep engine, but built and stroked with forced induction. Preferably a supercharger. Also a lot of lighter and reliable engines around that make great power.
In a real 2 door jeep the 3.6 is a great option. I supercharged My moms 2013 anniversary 3.6 and it rips.
THE PENTASTAR V6 ??
You can do what ever you want to, but your v-6 will never run or sound like a v-8
@@jimbradd2783 Shut up.
Your v8 will never run as good as a v12.
Lol.
There are plenty of v6 engines out there that do excellently.
@Roy Hemion I'm talking about the v-6 on jeep specifically, if you like your little 200 hp v-6 great I'm sure it gets you back and forth to church on Sundays
how much is the swap? Where is best place to find Engine and Trans that is not someone elses junk?
Waaay better than the hemi especially with 10spd
Lol I wrote u I had this done at Motech 4 years ago and u said it would have problems and not reliable 😂. I’m glad u seen the light cause Iv had no issue
Glad it worked out for you, but considering how many issues we had using their system I’d never install another one from them. RPM has been super reliable.
I’d say 50k Rough miles and 4 years is pretty reliable I even added a magnus 3.0 blower on it and no issues
do you offer integration kits? Ive been eye-balling MoTechs, and will be pulling the trigger this fall.
Great Video! So LT swap for the Gladiator? Is it as compatible as with the JK platform?
Any chance the Hurricane gonna be an option?
Make sure you search GM 5.3 class action law suit before going the LT route. And if you have to have an LT spend the money and take out the DOD camshaft and lifters. You know its an EPIC fail when a company reverses course and starts offering their new motors without DOD.
Maybe I missed it but you didn't mention price of this motor swap vs the Hemi?
Yeah we don’t mention pricing in the videos because that can change over time. Currently this is $30k, which is quite a bit cheaper than it’s Hemi counterpart.
@@Exodus4x4 that $30k all in (engine/trans, ecu, parts, labor) ?
Put a 4BT Cummins in it and beef up the trans and transfer case
Those swaps are terrible
Awesome 💯
Interested in a good swap choice for long desert racing in either my 96 XJ or 93 Nissan D21
Am I confused or does he keep calling that Gladiator a JK? And the Gladiator never had the 3.8.
Reliable LT and 8 spd trans??? Your kidding right? These shit the bed all the time here at the gm dealer. JUNK The LS is way more reliable.
Everyone wants a hot rod with the look of a jeep…not sure why people think you need a v8 to off-road..oh wait people don’t off-road…just the look 😂
Anyone know if these Jeeps get the AMF DOD problems that are known with those GM engines?
Is there any way you can put a manual transmission with this?
Nah
Sad Panda 🐼
@@Exodus4x4 whys that?
Does the LT8 get the same fuel economy as the LS?
No thanks. I’d go with an LS. Super reliable and. Cheeeap!,
Do you have to upgrade the axles or can the dana 44's handle it?
A Cummins R2.8 would be nice in that too.
My favorite engine. I'd put it in anything that itll fit in. I do love the 2.5l i4 from the yj/tj gens with a turbo on it tho. Reliable beyond belief
This would be my number 1 choice.
Godzilla swap the world
What’s the website for the company that does this conversion?
www.exodus4x4.com
Nah. It's all about the new Hurricane twin turbo I6. Comes in 3 HP flavors as a crate engine that comes with the ECM: 460, 550 and 1,000... Also can be ordered with an 8 speed TorqFlite
What about manual speed jeep engine swap ?
Wait until the LS4 engine hits the market
3.6 I4 with a LS3 head
360hp and over 400 tq
Not worth the hassle.
Sold my 2019 Silverado because the 8L90 Transmission is Junk. Unlimited information online about problems with those transmissions.
was there an LT engine prior to the LS.
Yeah but completely different animal.
8 speed auto transmission looks 4ft long. Too long for a 2dr rubicon?
Nah.
Chevy had a ton of problems with that 8 speed transmission. I have it in my truck and hate it
Should try the toyota 5.7
