Spring time every year, my lawn is full of dead grass or thatch. It's nigh on impossible to remove even 25% of it with a garden rake. This machine has made it easy. There are plenty of these machines on the market. Here in the UK at the time of posting this is by far the cheapest and I really believe it does a great job.

It's not a scarifier because it's not got blades. It's just a rake.
