This song has a backstory at my school! We had this really good activities director who took care of all the activities, not just the sports and this was his favorite song. When he died, they had the band play Sweet Caroline as the funeral procession went by! And now we play it at every basketball game, in the gym that they named after him! Edit: Accidentally wrote athletics director instead of activities director and didn't notice it until like 3 years later, my bad haha
We played this at a school concert once. It was amazing when about 90% of the audience shouted "BUM BUM BAAAAAAAA" at that part in the song. After we finished, we received a standing ovation.
same but with trombone and this is a concert song for my spring concert and we all can play but our trumpets, the sixth graders play better then them smh
Yea I would also to but my Alto Sax 🎷 is at the school 🏫 yea I just play off the piano 🎹 well technically a keyboard 🎹 but I like to call it my Yamaha piano 🎹. I would say it’s a marching band but you know it changes about every season in band and stuff like that. Like concert season it would be called a Symphonic Band for us . But I would play mind but it’s at the School 🏫 and yea I played my piano 🎹 about all night last night just about ... 🎶🎷🎹🎸🐅🦅🇺🇸
I tell mine to stop doing that and a bass was knocked over. It was caught, no breakage, even if it was bass 4. They still do it now tho but not as loud.
Once we hit the drums so hard one of the trumpets in front of us stopped playing because he was laughing so hard. It's become an inside joke in our band.
Bro I play it so loud, I feel bad for every body, I am a snare and the snares, quads, and trombones overrule the whole band... our bass drums are horrible so we don't talk about that.
Does anyone have memories of the school jazz band playing this in the auditorium and everyone singing at the Duh Duh Duh? I do, it's one of my best memories ever.
My first time in marching band we played this (trumpet😜) and i learned this in 30 mins and it gives me a nostalgic feeling I love it! We played this at a football game and it was a crowd favorite! Every other song they asked if we could play this!
We Clairinestists need som love. I can barely here anything played by the clairinets. I tried to play along, but I lost the beat 7 seconds in. Otherwise, great song.
this is PERSONALLY my favorite stand tune since i get to play the tenor sax part which is one of the first to come in and i get to feel special for once in my life (you see, i play bass clarinet)
Every time I hear this song, it reminds me of when my band director said "There's nothing the Midwest loves more than sweet caroline" Then the assistant director said "and ranch"
everyone in my band class last year was trying to convince my band teacher to let us play this at the spring concert guess what he said :))) him: no also alto sax gang where you atttttt
Im learning how to play this with my three fellow bandmates. We were invited to play with our HS pepband and this was one of the song. Im on trombone. 2 are on trumpet and another is on flute. I cant get my part down so i came here.
Lol i have a friend that teases me about it sometimes one time during band camp our band went to Jacksonville State University and they played this and i freaked out and when it came to sweet caroline my director pointed to me and i was so embarrassed lol.
ayo ty, im in ms and i got invited to perform w the hs marching and this is what we’re practicing. it’s hard but playing along w this really helps. ty 🙏 go percussion!
I went to an away football game with the band and the other teams band played this and we would shout the lyrics and the buh buh buh part as loud as possible
Same lol. There was also a time when we were playing land of a thousand and us and the cheerleaders didn't know that someone was injured and we played through the entire song 😅💀😶😬
@@gibbers7560 And then at the following game when a player got injured the announcer was like "congrats to our soccer team for winning 1-0 in our last game!"
As a trombone for jazz band and a tuba for normal band, I like this song because trombones get lovely melody besides tubas who just get quarter notes and whole notes.
I live in Marion, OH. I'm going to Harding High School and I participate in the JROTC program there. And we did a veterans day parade in Delaware OH.. and the Ohio Wesleyan University marching band was playing this lol
Were Playing this at universal Florida, more than half of our drumline just isn't going, so we have 2 front members playing bass, one playing snare, and me (a freshman bass drum player) playing quads. We have 1 week to memorize it wish us luck

Imma be honest-this sound like r/thathappened
otherwise, nice job!
@@tsuki5625 no this actually happens quite a lot at my school too
@@tsuki5625 standing ovations aren’t uncommon for band
We going to play this for a pep rally on friday
@@JuwuleeYes
it's almost ten at night and now i have the sudden urge to pull out my tenor sax and start playing this *what is wrong with me*
i felt that and i'm not even a Tenor-

Absolutely nothing I’d be blasting this if I had my horn with me

When the DUH DUH DUH part comes all us bass drummers hit our drums as hard as we can😂
So true man
I tell mine to stop doing that and a bass was knocked over. It was caught, no breakage, even if it was bass 4. They still do it now tho but not as loud.

Relatable
Relatable now
we’re on quarantine & I miss football season, so I’m listening to all the songs while doing the cheers 🥺
Relatable
Litarly me during quarantine. I miss band so much... the last year with my band teacher ruined 😢. Oh the memories.
Me and my school are going to be performing this at Great America in one week, I’m so excited!
Is that a melody I see in the horn part? FINALLY OUR TIME HAS COME!!!!!
+Max Burger-Roy We shall rise above my brothers.
Alex Burger-Roy I know right
the first song i learned in band 1 had the horn on melody
YASSS
Alex Burger-Roy I was switched to euphonium from Horn. The one time they have the melody!
God bless Neil Diamond and Tim Waters for giving us horns a real part🙌🏽
Its 4 years later, 12 am, and there is very little stopping me from pulling out my trumpet and waking up my whole family for this
As a trumpet player, I felt this on a spiritual level
I plau tuba and I have that same urge a 11 pm
Finally a good tenor sax melody, but I agree that the trumpets should have the three notes after sweet Caroline
I believe its a d, c, a
Ikr
Yeah
I think its actually y c b e
Yea it’s one of my favorite stand tunes that we’ve gotten so far, I love the tenor bit
I’m in the color guard and when we played this is the stands our BD told us it was our job to scream the lyrics. Highlight of football games for me.
Honestly that sounds awesome
I have to match in a parade next Saturday for color guard (baton) and we are marching to sweet Caroline and the hey song
Are you in JROTC? Oh how I miss the days my school had ROTC...
I amp
I am I'm the Color Guard at Northmor High School.

I struggled to play this at school but after I listened to the band version, it all came together them
It’s f̶o̶o̶t̶b̶a̶l̶l̶ Marching Band Season!

As a girl named Caroline who plays trumpet, I’m thrilled that I found this.
My band director calls it
Sweat Caroline
William Mann My band director does too XD
Why lol
mine calls it sweet caramel
Took a sec to realize BAHAHA
Sweaty Caroline
this is my literal favorite song to play in band. I play the French horn so our part isn’t much but it’s still so much fun
We Clairinestists need som love. I can barely here anything played by the clairinets. I tried to play along, but I lost the beat 7 seconds in. Otherwise, great song.
I mean, counting kinda helps you stay on beat. Tempo is 4/4. You just count 1, 2, 3, 4 over and over again. Oh, and the eighth notes swing.
Serious Latte clarinets go so unrecognized
I strongly agree. I cant hear them.
Well this song is marching/pep so any woodwind gets drowned by brass
clar player here...👍
Playing this for my school concert! Wish me luck! :D
this is PERSONALLY my favorite stand tune since i get to play the tenor sax part which is one of the first to come in and i get to feel special for once in my life (you see, i play bass clarinet)

I love that this is mostly made up of triplets and broken triplets for snare and tenors.
Popcorn ikr
This song gives the clarinets and trumpets a time to shine, and me being both pleased me
This is awesome it’s actually one of our field routines for twirling
Playing this tonight for our half time show!!!!
How was it
Oof I had to hold cymbals for the snares, that's what I get for being in the Pit🤷♀️
(Side note: I'm a graduate now lol)
Danielle Bishop same
It’s okay, I’ll use my stretchy arms to grab ya and pull you outta there!
@@TheRealRustyIsHere lol
Same tho. I'm in pit
This is why you be a snare
I play this in my youth Band with only Sax, trumpets, trombones and Drums! It sounds amazing!
Playing this for our marching band performance tomorrow. Current trumpet in the marching band!!!!!

When the director hands out the sheet music for this song-
Everyone except for brass : *looks at it and waits for instructions*
Brass : SWEET CAROLINE
Was it low brass
BUM BUM BUM
That’s brass land for ya
Man I miss being with my band during marching season and hearing the other band play this and all the band kids stomping and yelling the lyrics.
This and horse are by far my favorites that my band plays
Our marching band is playing this in Philly for the thanksgiving day parade there!
I play euphonium and i listen to marching pep tunes when in bored and then i turn it up!
In the middle of waiting to go on at a comp they played this and my whole band stomped and yelled the BUM BUM BUUUM part
Dungeons and Daddies sent men here from season 2/2.
I’m seein all these high winds complaining cause they aren’t getting the melody and I’m just glad you know how the horNS AND TROMBONES FEEL NOW
Those darn trumpets always get the melody. Us Horns never do.
There will be a day when we have the melody in something bigger then Sweet Caroline. Stay strong horns. Don't lose hope.
I love this piece!
At 1:42 the second time at my school Oconner we love taking that part up an octave as a trumpeter
Dunnn DA DA DUNNNN!
If my 7th grade band director doesn’t do this song after I begged him for months now I’ll be pissed.
i read begged in SUCH A WRONG WAY.

The Cougar Marching Band played this at the WSU halftime show this year, and I attended at that game!
Me almost crying remembering the time my middle school band played this on my birthday: 😭😭
We play this song for pep band. It is really amazing and this is our version we okay to.
As a trombone for jazz band and a tuba for normal band, I like this song because trombones get lovely melody besides tubas who just get quarter notes and whole notes.
Trumpets should play the 3 notes after sweet Caroline, or it's not right.
Yeah they should
