One of my guitar heroes growing up. When I was 17 I was in the front on his side, me and my friend were being annoying yelling his name after every song. He tried to ignore us but by the end was pointing his headstock at us and threw us both picks. What a good sport. Great guy and great guitar player.

I love this! Michael, next time you get the chance, get Chris to talk about Supergrass. Definitely a band that should be on your radar if they aren't already

Shred with Shifty is my new absolute favorite. Can't wait for the next episode!!!! But darn, I really want the Brad Paisley one to be good so I can see him give the note by note play by play.

I was thinking the same thing. First, Shifty puts up an amazing interview with Alex Lifeson and now to see him on this channel is so cool

Michael, what a pleasure to have Chris on with you but what a travesty to miss a vital (and very close to a lot of people's hearts) his tenure with No Use For A Name. The 3 albums he played guitar on will go down in history as some of the best punk rock albums ever recorded. What a missed opportunity.

Billy Strings is all the rage right now and for good reason, he's a fantastic picker and songwriter. As far as old school guys, Doc Watson is the original when it comes to arranging fiddle tunes for guitar. Tony Rice is the acoustic GOAT, hands down. Those two along with Norman Blake are the holy triumvirate of flat picking guitar. I recommend the album J.D. Crowe and the New South. Tony on guitar, Ricky Skaggs on mandolin, Jerry Douglas on Dobro. It's so iconic that people don't even refer to it by the album title, but by it's record label identification number: Rounder 0044

I will also add Michael is a massive proponent of Old and In The Way, with Jerry Garcia playing banjo and the legendary David Grisman on mandolin. He'd be disappointed if I didn't throw that one out! And if you like jazz, David Grisman Quintet is bluegrass instrumentation with jazz sensibility.

I don’t know if this would be interesting to anyone but I think it would be helpful and insightful to talk to players about their solos and part of it be where else you could go at certain sections of the solo and why it could work different ways. The reason being finding ways for people to make some solos their own.

  • @johncollins5552

Yeah , you guys have the real story, if you play what feels right it tends to sound right and if you get into the flow state of mind then great music will come from that.
