Seeing this kind of passion for the game & love for your team reminds me why baseball is such an awesome sport. Love it.
That's a love of the game you can't help respect.
Good point I wish more players would show this emotion towards the game and their teams!
He's playing the game for the right reasons
+TK its not like he retired... hes still playing the game... so its more of a love of the people and city
this team took him in after he immigrated... nothing to do with the love of the game
Joey Thompson someone got a little triggered eh?
I would cry too if I found out I was getting traded to the Brewers.
Elliot Johnson you wouldn’t be crying now if it happened lol
Elliot Johnson oh maybe you mean location wise
Flores went to Milwauker for Carlos Gomez
😂😂😂😂
Now he's in a great place with the Giants.
Not a Mets fan but this is cool. It's kind of sad we are so critical of people when they show genuine emotion.
I may be a Yankees fan, but Flores showed his true colors of how much he loves the game.
+Jahhshhdhdhdj I am a Yankees fan. We have to be humane and real.
Don't listen to Hoon, brah. I'm a Mets fan and it's nice to see a true fan, not just of a team, but of the sport. Passion is passion regardless of the Jersey. The fact that you recognize that sets you apart from many baseball fans I know.
28th ID Roll On
+Hoon Key lee Even if you're a fan of another team, you can Respect and Care for other teams. Most people support more then one team. And it doesn't mean he's a fake fan if he respects how someone showed their love for the game and their fans.
+Kapone Brooks True that.
+Hoon Key lee He cares about other teams but never Red Sox.
I felt so bad for this kid when this happened but he just hit a walk off tonight.. Absolutely awesome got a standing ovation and they were chanting his name
Stephen Ciccone Great story. I was sort of in shock, when I seen it earlier on Sportcenter. I was like this can't be true the kid was crying the other day after being traded lol.
Stephen Ciccone - You know sometimes adversity in life can be used as a tool to grow, develop, focus, and reach another level of potential. That "moment" of introspection came for Wilmer on live television. If used positively it could fuel something big for Wilmer. I hope it does for his life and career, and if possible The Mets too. I must add that The Mets organization has some work to do with how they handle things. This reminded me of the Willie Randolph fiasco.
Stephen Ciccone I
What happened to him?
Waldemar Morales I may be wrong but i think he wasn't traded
I was watching this live and this really broke my heart. I mean I was excited for the trade at first but as the game kept going I just got this really bad feeling in my stomach this kid didn't deserve this, I felt terrible. I'm just happy he's still with the mets along with Zach Wheeler. That home run he hit the other night nearly had me in tears. Let's go mets!
I cried watching this. Never have a seen a player love playing for the Mets like Wilmer has.
Wilmer, millions of fans love you and appreciate your devotion. Congrats on playing in the World Series.
Good luck in Arizona Flores 🔥💪🏽 you’ll be missed
From NY to Milwaukee, I'd cry too.
MikeD Let them say what they want, if they don't live here and know the quiet (often hammered) charms of Wisconsin, they just won't understand.
Lol. You guys probably haven't even visited NYC. You resort to the sterotype that all of New York city has rats. Meanwhile I'm sitting in a small home that's been a great investment in a 35 year period in a nice part of Queens. You know there's 5 boroughs right?
We love you Wilmer
It’s always ok for your emotions to be shown that’s what makes you special and well respected by the fans of baseball worldwide
He's still with the mets and the mets are not regretting keeping him he's definitely our best hitter
One of the saddest baseball moments I can remember. And how wonderful that it had a happy ending.
Glad he wasn't traded, good to see the guys stay with the organization he has been with for so long
So happy he stayed with the Mets. He is one of the few left in the game who genuinely loves the game and cares. That quality is very rare and I'm so glad that him (and Wright) are part of the New York Mets organization.
TeamAmoia And Jose Reyes
He’s a good player as well
One of the most emotional things I've ever witnessed in sports.
My heart broke so much for this guy when I saw this. I’m glad he was able to rest easy in the long run knowing he wasn’t gonna be traded. Can’t help but feel for him when you see this.
Shame he couldn’t win the World Series 3 years ago
hello fellow islanders fan
March 4 2016, Mets fans are chanting his name in the spring training game against Miami as he pinch hits
This is the one time it's ok to cry in baseball. NY to Milwaukee? Damn.
We would have never made it to the playoffs if this trade happened
Jake Donnelly a
thndrct218 Gomez**
For once the Mets completely screwed something up and it worked in their favor.
It's one thing to care about the fans
It's another to realize that they care about you go get Em Wilmer
That's tough. He handled it really well
The then Manager Collins really cared for his players and the game of Baseball. You could tell when he was talking to Flores and the way he managed the team.Collins will be missed by the Mets and I'm not a Mets fan just loved this organization.
met this man at a lounge. he was extremely humble; just like dude at a local bar. I do pray he does will wherever he goes. god bless i will root you all the way!
No matter what happens. You will always be one of us Wilmer.
Came here after finding out this was the 1 year anniversary of this. Never knew this happened. From the looks he's doing very well and the fact that the Mets went far last year was great.
Godbless man I love to see this not him crying but him showing a lot of love for the game
THIS WAS THE TURNING POINT OF THE METS RUN TO THE 2015 N.L EAST DIVISION TITLE!!! VIVA LOS METS CARAJO !!! LETS GO METS !!! ARRIBA METS NATION !!
nope it was getting cespedes
THAT ALSO, I AGREE
!!! LGM 2016 !!!
+Sergio Zavaleta your both right because if Flores trade goes through Mets have Gomez and never get Cespedes. Thank God that trade didn't go through really dodged a bullet and Im a Gomez fan since he came up with Mets
+Hoon Key lee woooaaaahhh what the fuck bro u need to fucking chill this is a mets zone ok
And then they lost
Ive watched this many times. So awesome
The ESPN crew last night, summed it up nice: "the fans just want to know that the players care"
Mets fans will love this guy forever now.
After the mets win the World Series.
Everybody will look back and say
Wilmer Flores is the one who turned
Every thing around for the mets.
He ignited every ones emotions!
Ton Hanks was wrong. There IS crying in baseball!
Dee Gordon. Jose Fernandez. Enough said.
Defining moment of turnaround in this season.
I'm a met fan and this makes me so happy
"How can you not be romantic about baseball?"
Big respect
I feel his emotions. When I played baseball I loved it! Now older in life and can't play anymore but throw the ball to my kid's. I wish I would of went pro! :)
Flores: on a scale 1-10 how cute am I?
Girl: I mean you funny...
Flores: 1:04
😂😂
Funny is a big compliment. "Nice" is not.
ua-cam.com/video/KAR7uC5VWw0/v-deo.html
Lol
For all you hating he's been part of the organization for years and the mets started him in the mlb and changed his life so before you hate.on him he's a good man
This is when the Mets turned the corner and became the best team in baseball. Wilmer is the heart of the team
+metsdudenj Maybe... but he surely didnt do much in the postseason
"Best team in baseball"
+TheMW2informer Someone didn't watch the Mets during that August.
I'm a fan of wilmer to see how much he just loves the team he is on
David Wright, a true leader. Captain through & through.
And now he's back
Could not have handle that worse if they tried, I feel for the guy.
It was the media. The Mets never said he was traded. That's why he wasn't taken off the field.
Beltran15x The media reports I saw said "Pending medical reports" which is factual and correct, the Mets on the other hand should not have had the guy on the field if they were that close to a trade, it's common practice to pull a guy if he's even in major talks let alone has a deal all but finalized, and on top of the guy is emotional and heartbroken on the field and your still gonna leave the poor guy out there till the 9th. Nope that is totally on the
Mets, he should have never taken the field if they were that close to a deal, to let that dude suffer on the field after that is just completely heartless and you can't blame twitter or social media as whole or the reporters for heartlessly leaving the kid on the field now can you?
This is why i don't watch SNY, except to see the game
zappedzach No you don't understand. Your right they did say that. Which means traded. HOWEVER. If that were true they would of told him and taken him off the field. If he was being traded to that point Snady would of told Collins. The media jumped the gun and reported everything was in place and agreed on. They would lf never let Flores play is they knew they wanted to trade him. That's common sense. Watch Terry's interview. He told Flores that he wasn't told anything and until then you are on this team 100% regardless of social media.
Beltran15x The only ones that said they were close to a trade was again....the media. Your sources are again the media. Please show me where the Mets front office said anything about being set on trading Flores.
Walk off home run boys. We're gonna ride Wilm to the pennant!
Bottom line, Wilmer is a 23 year old kid in a city far away from home. He had, for all intents and purposes, been discarded by the people that brought him here and were family to him. He earned my respect that night.
Hate the Mets, but the fans and players were total class supporting Wilmer. That was such an awkward position to be put in, knowing you're about to be traded but still being in the game. Cool to see a guy actually care about staying with one team.
Wilmer Flores is the best ⚾❤️⚾
I don’t care what name is on his jersey at the moment, this game proved he’s a true met
Thennnnn....he wasn't traded. LOL I love this though. Passion, love for his team. Brings a tear to your eye if you're a baseball fan. Not a New York fan at all but I just appreciate THIS!!!
Heartless.
This crying moment then the walk off turned the mets season around along with Uribe Johnson conforto and cespedes
Make them longer and I will subscribe
If they win the world series, this is the greatest turning point in baseball history.
the Mets never should have traded Flores, he was a good player
Tough at bat. Damn I feel for the guy that really sucks glad that he didn't get traded. This is the first time in a long time the Mets have a squad that can get to the world series.
Nothin' but heart. All heart.
An unforgettable moment for Mets fans.
and he didn't even get traded
Then, NO, He did not get traded.
JRB_03 2 days later hits a game winning home run
Keep wilmer good luck charm
I call him Flowers now because of this.
American sports need more of this. In the UK fans are part of the team. Too often we fans are overlooked
One of those surreal moments. Fans think he was traded, brewers think he was traded; Wilmer thinks he was traded. Collins thinks he's not traded.
In the end, Mets Manager over fans, the Brewers and Wilmer himself.
Glad they kept him. He's a middle infielder who can bop 20-25 homers....
At the 1:51 mark-
Collins: "you okay son?"
Flores: "yeah coach...it's just..."
Collins: "you're a little emotional, just want to make sure your head is in this game"
Flores: "I'm not...I'm not emotional...it's just...these...these danged gnats, they keep flying in my eyes!"
In all seriousness I love to see that kind of passion in a player. All other things being equal I'd take passion over talent eight days a week and I wish Flores nothing but success.
I like how Duda had a 3HR game but no one remembers
He shouldn’t have gotten traded he was literally crying because he didn’t want to leave the team it’s his home his life
Love him on the Giants now
Loved his go ahead homer vs. Jansen last night!
we love u Wilmer forever
Can't blame him..if I found out I got traded to the Brewers I'd be inconsolable.
Seriously, talk about a team with zero future, and in the same division as the Cards, Pirates, and Cubs.
+Mick Jagger that's such a strong division it's gonna be hard to play there
Mick Jagger let's re think these comments a year later boys what's up
I bet he'd take a trade to Beertown/Cream City right about now. And the Crew would welcome him as well.
Brewers were in. 1st julu 2018
Thank God he wasn't traded.
Jesus. What a great guy
My favorite Met
Menos mal no lo cambiaron, ojalá vuelva a su puesto y Wilmer de todo por los Mets para llegar a la post-season. En el beisbol no todo es negocio, hay corazón, más cuando son de los más jóvenes
I feel for him I understand the tears nothing wrong with tears it’s normal
He wasn't traded after this.
2 nights later, Wilmer put a thrilling capper on one of the most memorable games in Mets history.
And he never ended up on the Brewers. And that bum Gomez ended up hitting .150 his first few weeks for the Astros.
The best trade that never happened. Now WIlmer is part of the NL East Champion Mets!
I watched this game
Still trying to figure out what's so strange about him being so emotional. I'm sure that's how everyone reacts to being traded. It's just they get to do it privately and Wilmer got to do it under the glare of the camera. I thought he held himself together pretty well.
Yeah' this player wears his heart on his sleeves, Wilmer Flores stays a met and stays strong. There is crying in baseball if you love your team.
And he was never traded
When he was playing and I saw him crying I was literally crying too. When I was watching the game with my dad during this time and Terry Collins talk to him that you’re not getting traded deal didn’t go through. I’m staying with us as a Mets Because Flores Wanted to be a Mets When he started, he wanted to stay with us He didn’t wanna leave
I love the Mets. for like 40 years already.
I'm a Royals fan but I still felt bad for him😖
Nice pair @0:13 8)
0:13 The World Series loss coupled with Flores official departure, I now can say that my favorite part of the video has always been those gorgeous...
coming back 4 years later to write this tho...lol
How can you not be romantic about baseball?
Its like losing a family.
Dear Mets and Mets fans, please be nice to Adrian Gonzales for us Dodger fans. See you on the diamond.
WootTootZoot im an A's fan but I follow the dodgers and root for them and I was pretty sad that he couldn't finish with the dodgers. I always thought it would be cool if he went to San Diego as well.
If I took a trade I'd only go to Baltimore or Houston, the cities that I love. I was born in Maryland lived here all my life and Houston is my adopted town, family having been there almost 20 years.
you don't get the option to get traded it's the manager or owners decision
Damn. Come to San Francisco
......and ever since Crygate (excluding this game), NY Mets get Yoenis Cespedes at the deadline, are 19-7 and lead the NL East over the "World Series Champion" Nats by 6.5 games. Simply Amazin'. LGM!!!!!!
Don’t worry he hit a homerun today against the Mets in citi
He never got traded
wilmer is my favorite but it's because I'm a net fan
Does he still play for them? Thought I seen him at first base last night
True Met.
And he didn't get traded
