Have your gunsmith check the bolt gap on your MAC 5. I am a FFL and gunsmith and just purchased one of these to evaluate and found that the one I have has no bolt gap at all. HK specs are .25mm to .45mm which is .010 to .018 inches, With no bolt gap at all means that the rollers are not engaging in the recesses of the trunnion and therefore what you will have is almost a direct blow back firearm. This will cause undo wear on the firearm and shorten it's life. This is not good. I urge all of you that have purchased one of these MAC 5s to check the bolt gap on your firearm.
I love it. MAC gets them through SDS imports, but I believe Mertsav, who is a subcontractor of MKE, is the manufacturer. So essentially the old zeniths, or current century arms package (hence why they share the same handguard, muzzle device, sling) but at a more affordable price. If you've been on the fence, this is probably as good as its gonna get. It beats out the ap5 core package sold by Atlantic Firearms while offering all the non-core items (aside from the brace) AND you get more mags. The mags alone make the deal for me and that's coming from someone with an AP5 and an SP5k. Had I known these were coming id have gotten it over the ap5
@@BUCKEYESHOOTINGCENTER I have one of the AC versions of the triangular hand guard that has vent holes on the side and is lightly ribbed (For your pleasure). The ribbing really improves you hold on the gun. At least now that I have the MAC I’m already for Christmas and Hans Grubber! 😉

Mertsav is the actual manufacturer. They are sub contractors for MKE and these are made from mostly MKE components. It stands to reason that these would be nearly identical to MKE sub guns.
For the full size, I got a PTR-9c first, then an MKE AP5 for outdoor range training. Now, you show up telling me I could have a grand in the bank if I only waited. Plus, I had to buy that B&T style flash hider myself. A lot of people said the PTR-9's were even too high which was when the AP5 core was released by Century Arms. The MP5 fence dwellers shouldn't be hangin' out anymore with the MAC. I'd still put an HK-C1 binary in that thing. It makes it an MP5 with ammo discipline. Semper Fi.🇺🇲
I pulled the trigger on this gun without watching your video. I found your video afterwards and only reassured me that I made the right decision. I can’t believe how close to a real MP5 this thing seems. Other than the branding and the threaded barrel, I cannot tell a difference.Heading to the hardware store to get a file.😂
I rather have the CHF barrel of the MKE and as for their magazines they work without any issues with the six I have. I also have HK magazines with the old LEO markings and no issues in the MKE. It is nice to have other companies building these pistols to help bring the cost down on these type of firearms. Does the MAC 5 have a chrome lined barrel?
MP5 clone finally hit my price range for fun toy. Gotta have a brace or stock on this indeed. Just need to win the lottery and pick up a real MP5 but in the mean time MAC-5 will do.
My thoughts exactly. The sp5 is barely worth it anymore especially considering you could get a HK AR for 2-300 more for what they’re charging for it which would be more worth it.

Nope. PSA cancelled the project quite awhile ago. The imported clones came onto the market and PSA realized they couldn't compete on price, so they permanently shelved the project.
@@TheBobNoxious to be fair, they're going to be able to make a hell of a lot more money on the MP7-at home. People have been clamoring for a semi-affordable MP7 for decades, and the PSA version is chambered in a cheaper round (though still expensive). I'm personally not that interested in it, but that gun is going to sell like hot cakes.
if your thinking about getting the MAC 5 now is the time! the price is right. but I fear the price will go up closer to November when people start panic buying.
I love the price point, but I am concerned about how this pistol holds up long term. There are so many SP-5 clones and the quality of those clones varies dramatically.
IMO, and I’m sure someone will get Butt hurt out there, but I don’t think CHF is as big of a deal with pistol calibers. Sure, it’s better, but I don’t see it drastically changing the durability or longevity of a pistol caliber firearm.
Lee's sporting makes a "lower" for mp5 clones that lets you use AR grips and triggers as well as an AR safety. I think there's some fitment you have to do and I'm pretty sure you have to modify most triggers but not all. They have the information on their website

We've had a few come through, and do stock them. They are just now starting to trickle in, but they were supposedly going to be available at the beginning of Q2... They availability is getting better and better.
Fired an MP 5 years ago in .40 SW. It was my first time firing a full auto and it was easy to dump a mag and and put every round on paper at 10 yards. Now 30 feet may not seem like much but as a full auto virgin at the time I was astounded how nice the recoil impulse was.

To be honest, most MP5 clones feel the same. It's an older design, and not much has changed. It comes down the price point really. Zenith are sweet too.
I got a century arms ap5 in because my distributor didnt get the mac5 in yet but eehhh it was only a $170 difference between the two. Idk how they market it under or at $1k theres almost no profit margin to be made for stores

A lot of the industry is like that. Especially the import market. I know MERTSAV was heavily involved, but couldn’t verify they produced the gun, at the time we recorded the video.
I just don’t see a reason why folks shouldn’t choose the MAC. It’s everything you want it to be (including how it’s built) at the best price point. I’m going MAC all day. Nothing wrong with the others, this just leaves some more in the budget for ammo!

Been going back and forth for days. You do get the cold hammer forged barrel with the Ap5 but the mac5 is a much better package for $150-$200 less currently. Remember you could always upgrade your barrel later or even get a HK barrel.
Not a full auto bolt carrier. That actually ruins it for me as I cannot use my binary triggers on this without swapping a very expensive bolt carrier. I ended up going with a PTR 9C when they were on sale for under a grand so it's the same price as this MAC 5 or at least when I bought it. Either way, I do like this for the price, but I could tell it had a semi auto bolt carrier just from the trigger pack alone. You either get a front pin in the trigger pack or a "shelf" that holds on to your fire control group, but you get a full auto bolt carrier. One of those parts have to give to be imported.
It works with a binary. They had them factory at the agency party at Shot Show. And they had it in the Franklin armory booth. Franklin didn’t have to change a thing for the binary to work.

That’s why HK commands the price they want. Just save up for a legit SP5 instead of the knock off ones.

I've been reading that the MAC has a button barrel instead of a CHF barrel like the AP5 has. So they aren't exactly the same.

I just got the Mac 5 and im very impressed with it. Very well made. I would recommend getting one while you can at this price point.

That slim handguard is the pre1978 one. The wide one is a big improvement and cheap.

The Turkish Lira has been falling hard against the USD so stuff for us to buy with dollars gets cheaper when made over there.
