  • Leave a Comment Below Paying Respect to a High-Value Woman in Your Life... www.howtogettheguy.com

I wouldn’t be anywhere near the person I am today without my mum (and you’ll hear why in this week’s video...)
When it came time to decide who I wanted to dedicate my book to when it was first published, I didn’t have any hesitation about who I wanted to thank more than anyone else in the world.
Which is why the first page reads, “To the most high-value woman I know, my mum."
Mother’s Day is a day we can all unite on. Whatever stage of life we’re in, all of us have a mother to thank for keeping us safe before we were ever born and for bringing us into this world.
It’s easy to forget the sacrifices someone made just for us to be here now, able to live, think, work, and enjoy the relationships around us.
But as I see it, today isn’t only about mothers.
In fact, I have a special message for ALL WOMEN, and if you have 3 minutes to spare today, I’d love for you to take a look and let me know what you think...

My mom taught me to live within my means and not hang my coat where I cant reach it. She said it's better to have $1000 in a $20 dollar bag than to have $20 in a $1000 bag .However if I want to have 1000 dollars in a 1000 dollars bag I should work hard for it .

I learned how to be a strong woman because I had a mother who wasn't. She relied on me for many things at a young age. As a result I vowed to help other women because of how important it is to respect yourself, be confident and build your self esteem even when you don't have a guide to lead you in those early years. Every young woman should have a female mentor and it doesn't have to be family. We all need support and love, always remember you don't have to do it alone.

I became the mother my mother was not able to be. I'm so glad I didn't take after her in many ways but I do thank her for being my mother because without her, I wouldn't be the mother I am today. We chose our parents because they had something to teach us.

Same for me, my mother was not a natural parent. she told me she'd never wanted to have children and never gave me any reason to doubt that statement. She was impossible to please, and stricter than the Victorians. I know it was because she'd had a difficult childhood but I haven't passed that anger on to my son, so I know it is possible to break the cycle if you really want to. Not all mother's are the unselfish beings we would love them to be.

My mum taught me that intelligence on its own isn't that valuable. Work is where it's at.
My sister taught me (without really knowing it, but I've seen it from her past relationships) that if someone doesn't wanna be with you, doesn't value you, it's their problem and not yours.
My aunts on my dad's side taught me that sex appeal is 30% what you've got, 30% what people think you've got, and 40% posture. Lol
My aunt on my mum's side taught me that if you can laugh at yourself, you'll coast along just fine.
My half-brother's mum taught me that you can always, always start over. You just have to find a way.
My history professor taught me that you can be the next Einstein, but if you're not kind and you don't have good motives, it doesn't mean anything.
(Sorry, that was a tale and a half 😂)

My mom went from a HS dropout raising two kids at home in an unhappy marriage to go back to school, get a good job and support herself and her kids. She taught us that we can reinvent ourselves and better our lives. She also taught us to be independent, and never depend on a man. Or anybody, for that matter.
Btw, my dad has always been present, while alive, and I loved him very much.

Thank you for this. I won't be a mother, because I can't have kids and accepted that. However, there have been men who won't date me because I won't give them kids. I think I'm so much more than just an incubator for some guy who wants to populate the world. My mother wasn't a strong person and I've had to parent her. So, I've decided to treasure my own strength and resilience in accepting what I do have to offer. Also, my professors have been my mentors and have allowed me to see the worth I have.

  • @jaeshasway

Thank you for this. So many people feel that because I don't have children that I know nothing about love, nurturing, sacrifice, etc. At 50, I've been through quite a bit in my journey, although I don't have children, I've learned to give, be and do all of those things and more. I had to find significance and joy in just being myself and not having children to help define my place in this world. That was not easy and everyday is a life lesson. We need to be kinder to one another and not judge another persons life or choices so harshly. Their story may be more significant than yours. If you discount it, you don't learn anything.

+Terri Boyd One of my adult daughters is childless (she's over 40) and yet she is one of the most loving, nurturing, compassionate persons I have ever known. She always thinks of others first-and she has been a second mother to her niece and nephews. A woman does not have to give birth to have a strong maternal instinct. I wish her a Happy Mother's day every year-because she is a mothering type of soul, as I think all women are-whether they have actually given birth or not. We have a maternal nature, and we will find other outlets to express it-whether it be with our pets, or kindness and care towards our friends and family. You're right-it's wrong to form a negative judgment toward a childless woman. I have never done this-as I know the nature of women. That generous, loving spirit will still manifest-regardless if they have a child or not.

Hi Terri. I dont know if you will read this. It's been a while. But i wanna say i understand you. I am a young woman in my 20s. I have lived a tough life but learned from mistakes of others. I cared for my younger siblings and feel i hv done my duty in this regard. I now feel like i want to transfer my focus and care for adult people in the form of bussiness. I want to grow my bussiness and people within it. Like it's my little baby that i look after and care for. I am looking for other women who have experience in this or similar matters related to being childless and so on. If you care to share give me a shout I'd be willing to listen.

Your dedication to your mum is almost verbatim the way my teenage son speaks of me and to me. So, from a mother's perspective: Your video proved very moving. We are so busy trying to "teach the man to fish," we often forget to look up and proudly see how well our kids are doing, as they grow up. This type of homage is so humbling and makes all the effort well worthwhile. Thank you.

One of my music teachers from college was so absolutely hard on me. I didn't understand her being this way because I was a hard worker. I always came prepared, and I also helped other classmates with their music. At the time I didn't understand that she was tough on me not because I wasn't good enough, but because I had the potential to be better. It's been a few years since I've been in her class; however, I carry with me the knowledge that I can do better. That I can do more. I know it sounds like a tough thing to think of myself, but it's actually a huge confidence builder. It's not all about the people who blow smoke up you ass trying to puff your ego. I like to think it's about the ones who call more out of you than you even knew you could give. Iron sharpens Iron.

in my home, my dad made the rules but my mom was the enforcer (they are both stil around and still have these roles LOL). Not a dictatorship, since Mom negotiates with my father when the rules is "incomplete" or unfair. So yep, my mom is strong and smart and, along with my dad, the foundation of my life. My son died (he was premature) and, being in my 40s and divorced, it's been difficult to find a 'role" for myself. And some don't see us childless women as "good". I'm happy to hear that we're appreciated, even if childless. Thank you!!

Watching this video reminded me of my fifth-grade elementary school teacher. From all the women I have met, she has probably been the most influential. To this day, i derive so much inspiration from her because of how confident and self-assured she was. Even though i have not talked to her in years, I can always refer back to her lessons when I am struggling.
I hope to pass on the lesson of being alone to find oneself. From our natural instinct we always want to be included, and it is not that i disagree with that, but I want to shine light on the fact that it is okay to be alone. Being alone allows for self-discovery and ultimately allows you to set goals for yourself. :)
    Thank you!

My grandmother, may she rest in peace, thought me to always remember to live and enjoy life, her incredible strength to survive all the hardships shr has been through, and yet till her last day, she travelled, visited family, listened to music, dressed up, and loved having people over. Funny as her name was actually "Aicha" wich means the alive in arabic. She was always grateful and trusting that things will get figured out. She taught me that money isn't worth much without family and friends, that I can become a woman of huge impact and make it to big places. Without ever going to school or learning much, she could sit talk and understand big business men and negotiate with them. She was affirming and straightforward. Such power and strength, and yet with me the most loving and kind soul, she raised me, was my mother in every type of way, and her soul forever lives eithin me, and I can only hope to reflect her strength and kindness.

I'm still learning about the kind of woman my mother is. We used to have a tumultuous relationship and I definitely wanted to be nothing like her. However, I'm learning more and more things about her that inspire me, that make me look up to her more than ever before. She is not perfect, and I think that's one of the most beautiful things about her.

My mum offers unconditional love no matter what. She also taught me high standards. But giving all love unconditionally does not mean lowering your standards. It's about going all in, conscience clear & doing it because you genuinely want the other party to benefit or be happy. If the other party doesn't give it back, at least you know your conscience is clear & you continue to influence with your love - showing your power. Love you mum. She's the strongest woman I know.
