Great help for me. Don‘t like to sit in front of the PC too much. Thanks 👏👍
Thank you very much for your tips on contrast.
My pleasure!
Thanks for the tips Adam G. btw the blue is very uplifting and you should wear it more often imo
Great video again😀👍🌄🦜🐘!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
I almost didn’t watch this because I thought it would be about lightroom and photoshop, and I use darkroom. But I’m glad I did, because it concentrates on the ‘what do I need to do’ question, which I struggle with, and less on the ‘how do I do it’ which I can get from the manual. More like this please.
You are one of the few photographers I actually learn a lot from by watching your videos. Many others only show their photos and a video of how they took it. That is also fun to watch, but learning through videos is the key reason to prefer watching a video over my own discoveries in the field.
This is one heck of a good and useful vlog. Using Affinity I can translate that
Happy to hear that!
Lovely video Adam. Simplicity at its finest
The longer I’m involved with photography the less I process images. So often over editing ruins excellent images by ignoring the feeling of the landscape.
Couldnt agree more.
Thank you very much for your recent efforts to help out photographers once again!
Pete
Fanrtastic less is more approach. Cheers Adam
Super demonstration on working with contrast and depth. I love your refined eyes and fairly simple approach. You are always good at making us so aware of the light!
It's of great encouragement to see your process from RAW to final image in such clear precise way. To many are way too complicated to follow and understand on youtube. PS nice work on the GF 20-35 video.
Many thanks!
As always very enjoyable and useful. A special request! A couple of years ago you and Alister processed some of your followers Raw files completely independently. It was great to see your different interpretations and how you each went about processing the image. Would absolutely love to see you do this again! Thank you.
I'll see what we can do
Thank you for sharing your video Adam and explaining the way you edit your photos love how your photos always look very natural absolutely fantastic work
In the first image, I’m not sure why you didn’t do a sky mask and invert it for the ground to increase the whites. Also, you could have done a gradient mask for the ground. Or a Liminance mask intersected with n inverted sky mask. It would be interesting to see the difference between these techniques and a Photoshop mask.
How did you add contrast to only the foreground tree?
If it’s flat, I don’t take the picture.
When processing images, what percentage are you using lightroom vs PS? Just curious...thanks in advance.
70 Lightroom, 30 PS
I really love learning the steps you take Adam. You make photography fun not spending hours behind the computer on a single image. Your photos are amazing and thank you for these tips!
My pleasure!
❤️❤️❤️❤️Simply Wow Video❤️❤️❤️❤️

Love U All ❤️❤️❤️
My Favorite 😍 😍
I haven't watched the video yet... but I will! Just wanted to say that it was great, seeing you on the Fuji X Channel! Greetings
Awesome! Thank you!
Fantastic and easy explanation of your techniques Adam.
Really did learn, like others have mentioned
That trick of the whites rather than the highlights was quite enlightening , thank you so much
Thanks 👍
I really dig how you don’t get consumed with editing. I certainly agree that it’s a critical tool…but to Joe McNally’s most excellent point!
I noticed you did not use the luminosity masking function in Lightroom. What do you feel are the short comings of the Lightroom luminosity masking tool?
Im more used to luminosity masks in PS to be honest, I just find there to be more control.
Thank you, Adam. Hot tip for finding the white and black clipping points is to hold down Shift and click on the word. Sometimes doesn't work well for B&W images, but otherwise a real time saver.
OH OH you forgot to push the saturation slider a lot. LOL
Interesting to see some of your processing and the finished results.
Thanks for that Adam , can you do a video on Luminosity masks
Great video. I always try to err on the side of simplicity
Insightful video. Thanks!
You are a great teacher -explains in plain English for this novice photographer
Great video I have been using the exposure slider rather than the whit slider. Looks much better with the white slider.
You seem to under expose your shots why is this ??
I expose for the highlights
Do you have any suggestions for getting prints? I haven't found a place yet since moving back to BC/Canada to get good quality prints (framed or not) done and I have a few people requesting them again. I'm not sure if you do all your own in house, but I don't have that option at the moment.
No, sorry I do all of my own printing
@@QuietLightPhoto Thanks for getting back to me. Maybe we will run into you in November as we will be doing some photography around the island most of the month. Say hi if you see a bright yellow pickup and offroad trailer (or now you know how to avoid us :) )
They say if you live long enough, you see almost everything happen that you didn't expect. That image around 24:00 ... you'd really messed it up in that TIF you made so flat... lol The last bit you did on getting that sunlit pop back in it restored my total faith in your imaging... :D GREAT video... lots of photo students should watch this several times - so easy to harm the image....
Brilliant! Thanks Adam!
My pleasure!
Fantastic vid, thank you!
My pleasure!
Thanks, I reckon this video will help lots in my editing 😀
Thanks so much for this encouraging video! When looking at other peoples photographs on Instagram I started to feel insecure in my editing, because like you I only did very small adjustments to enhance the natural look of the scene. Of course it helps to have the knowledge how to use Lightroom and Photoshop in detail, but in the end we only use what the photograph really needs. Your video is like another well fitting puzzle to the last videos of Alister Benn, that encouraged me to enjoy my own work and process instead of producing somthing others might like.
Lovely work and enjoyed watching your process, to me the Antarctic shot appeared to be a little more effective with the Iceberg being that little blue ship on its own alone in the sea with the far horizon closer to the original grey colour..
All subjective of course and many others no doubt will have a different opinion..
Look forward to seeing some more of your output 🙂👏
Another great video Adam. It's really helpful to see how you improve your photographs, but with so little editing! More of the same please.
Great video Adam
Great video Adam, really enjoy your processing videos 👌
Glad to hear it!
Adam, a quick question....I noticed your raw files were captured using Adobe RGB color space. I know the image is rendered in whatever color space you've assigned in your post processing editor, so I'm wondering if there is an advantage to capturing the image in Adobe RGB vs sRGB? Thanks.
RGB has a wider colour gamut than sRGB
Thank you for the informative upload, Adam. Very insightful and shows us simplicity and minimal is more. Much appreciated.
My pleasure!
I was interested to see that you edit your fuji X-T4 RAW files in Lr. I take it you're happy with the results, no 'worming' issues in areas of high detail? Thanks again for another great video. 👍
I haven't noticed anything weird but perhaps Im not looking close enough?
Thanks! This was really interesting and helpful.
Glad to hear it!
Thank you! This is the most helpful video I've seen on editing photos.
Awesome, thank you!
Great video Adam! Enjoyed your journey & views. It's always interesting to hear/see how you interpret your own views. Thanks for the lesson. 😃😀
My pleasure!
Another fine video. I find your analysis and editing decisions quite informative. Thank you.
Much appreciated!
Great video Adam a lot of information you gave there i will put them in to use when editing my images when need Thank you
My pleasure!
Love the white slider tip. Thanks.👍
You bet!
I always find it interesting to see how photographers/artists interpret a scene and what catches their eye. I get the impression that you view a subject much as a painter would, have you ever painted? After post processing the images look more "painterly" for want of a better word, highlighting and perhaps emphasising features that caught your attention. After your short video on the GF 20-35mm zoom I now have to decide whether to keep or part exchange the 23mm.
Haha I'm in the same dilemma, sell the 23mm or keep it.
