In 40 years of being a nurse , I’ve never once called a patient a name . Plus I would never get on the witness stand under oath and go on and on about a sick child saying a cuss word. What’s wrong with these caregivers and professionals , who cares about a cuss word , that told me all I needed to hear “oh God Maya cussed , I’m calling Social Services and having her placed in hospital prison , and stopping all visitation” . What I heard was no patient or family teaching , communication , or basic caring of a sick child , what I heard was a bunch of judgmental mean girls club that didn’t like Beata because she asked questions , asked for names , wanted to speak to higher ups management etc. The staff couldn’t stand Beata because she was a Nurse , it happens all the time in every hospital .!

@@Rnnurse2023 And the fact that the patient is a 10 year old girl, makes the staff's behavior seem even worse! Parents of children in the hospital have their emotions all over the place! It's very difficult for them to stay calm, if they feel their child isn't being treated right, medically, or emotionally. Just a handful of employees as bad as these people, can ruin a hospitals reputation and the reputation of the nurses and entire medical staff. It's unfortunate all nurses/doctors/staff suffer for a few 'bad apples," when most of them are great at their jobs and do care about their patients.

@@Rnnurse2023 Thank you for your comments. I agree 100%. The cussing allegations were ridiculous and sounded very rehearsed. Even if true, those of us who have worked in healthcare when people are sick and at their worst, if you can’t take cussing, you aren’t healthcare staff material - FULL STOP!
One time, I was critical in the ER - my stomach had ruptured and I was in absolute agony. ER Healthcare needed to move me for a CAT scan. Just the movement caused the pain to increase 10 fold. I let out a string of f** bombs. The medical staff didn’t act offended, didn’t call security. They gave me more morphine - thank God. CAT scan completed and I was off to surgery

Respectfully whether it was Court TV or L&C, the cameras should have NEVER been on Maya, Jack or Kyle unless they were testifying. It’s exploitative. Panning over to them once in a while when it is relevant is reasonable, but especially remember that Maya and Kyle are STILL CHILDREN going through a traumatic experience.
Yes they knew this would be public, and yes they did a Netflix documentary. But if you could give grace to Gwyneth Paltrow by keeping the cameras off her, you can absolutely do it for the Kowalskis. 🧡

    • @liseklerekoper2441
      @liseklerekoper2441 Рік тому

I thought the same while the defense’s closing was much more dynamic, especially w/ the visual aids that went with his oral arguments.
Hopefully the jury looks at the facts vs letting emotion control many people’s opinions of the case.
The whole Cathi Bedy & Dr. Sally Smith component was a clear problem for the hospital & they were responsible in that part, but as far as the actual medical care, I feel like JHACH provided reasonable care. The ketamine comas & massive doses of oral ketamine & opiates multiple times a day when she wasn’t hospitalized/was at home getting outpt. services. All that never provided viable & effective treatment except very short term, and she almost died twice during the comas, as Beata’s detailed entry’s in her blog/dairy showed. With all those opiates & ketamine, I think that a lot of Maya’s problems were protracted and complicated withdrawal from all these drugs, which can cause so many of the symptoms that she experienced. Maya suffered a great deal because of all of that, and the benefits didn’t seem to outweigh the risks & dangers. Even Dr. Hana felt Maya wasn’t responding & he recommended a pediatric internist familiar with chronic pain, & further evaluation of possible psychological factors, which all the other doctors at all 4 hospital who treated Maya agreed with.
When did Maya finally start to improve? With no ketamine or high dose opiates & sadly & tragicly, after Beata took her own life. There really are no winners in this trial regardless of the jury verdict, imo.

I don’t think I’d give them the Battery claim.
The Battery, based on evidence was a staff member patting her leg while speaking with her to see if she responds complaining of pain…
They patted her leg in a “ thata boy” type fashion. Similar to how you may pat somebody on the back.
Maya was 10 years old, was admitted for complex pain, including her legs.
The reasoning for the patting was manipulative, and one could say cruel. It would be the equivalent if somebody had a broken arm and a nurse intentionally moved the arm for the sole purpose to see how the patient reacts.
Is it a Battery? No I don’t believe it is.

Sounds like eczema which can be triggered by stress too. she probably should increase the aquaphor but I don’t want her liver enzymes to be impacted by that heavy duty medication. I guess Ketamine it is.

This is flipping it upside down. Maya wants the hospital to be punished. Trials are dirty. The hospital probably follows her with a PI. They try to dig any dirt on her. They likely hired a PR firm to discredit the family on Internet resources by flooding fake comments (including L&C).
The trial itself is traumatic. You're forced to relive it all over again.
But all this is worth it, because the alternative is for you to be a silent victim and knowing that you're letting them get away with it and you're letting them do it to other people; and that feeling is much worse than all this.
