What I heard was no patient or family teaching , communication , or basic caring of a sick child , what I heard was a bunch of judgmental mean girls club that didn’t like Beata because she asked questions , asked for names , wanted to speak to higher ups management etc. The staff couldn’t stand Beata because she was a Nurse , it happens all the time in every hospital .!

Respectfully whether it was Court TV or L&C, the cameras should have NEVER been on Maya, Jack or Kyle unless they were testifying. It’s exploitative. Panning over to them once in a while when it is relevant is reasonable, but especially remember that Maya and Kyle are STILL CHILDREN going through a traumatic experience. Yes they knew this would be public, and yes they did a Netflix documentary. But if you could give grace to Gwyneth Paltrow by keeping the cameras off her, you can absolutely do it for the Kowalskis. 🧡
Maya on the stand, at such a young age, gave an incredibly compelling testimony and her demeanor, so natural and sincere was in stark contrast with the defendant side... She and her family deserve all what the jury awarded them!
I thought the same while the defense’s closing was much more dynamic, especially w/ the visual aids that went with his oral arguments. Hopefully the jury looks at the facts vs letting emotion control many people’s opinions of the case. The whole Cathi Bedy & Dr. Sally Smith component was a clear problem for the hospital & they were responsible in that part, but as far as the actual medical care, I feel like JHACH provided reasonable care. The ketamine comas & massive doses of oral ketamine & opiates multiple times a day when she wasn’t hospitalized/was at home getting outpt. services. All that never provided viable & effective treatment except very short term, and she almost died twice during the comas, as Beata’s detailed entry’s in her blog/dairy showed. With all those opiates & ketamine, I think that a lot of Maya’s problems were protracted and complicated withdrawal from all these drugs, which can cause so many of the symptoms that she experienced. Maya suffered a great deal because of all of that, and the benefits didn’t seem to outweigh the risks & dangers. Even Dr. Hana felt Maya wasn’t responding & he recommended a pediatric internist familiar with chronic pain, & further evaluation of possible psychological factors, which all the other doctors at all 4 hospital who treated Maya agreed with. When did Maya finally start to improve? With no ketamine or high dose opiates & sadly & tragicly, after Beata took her own life. There really are no winners in this trial regardless of the jury verdict, imo.
You can't just kidnap a child and refuse to treat their disease. When you do, there will be an argument made that an adequate treatment at an appropriate time could have produced a much better recovery (in fact, in this case defense's own witness told that CRPS treatment at an appropriate time can cure a child, which plays massively against defense)
