- I had a cold but fun day catching cod and coley out of Beadnell on the beautiful Northumbrian Coast. The temperature was well bellow freezing but that didn't seem to put the fish off with the weedless shads and metals doing the business as usual. Lot's of fun on the lures and light gear with plenty of fish to the kayak to keep me warm!

I need to see yr tackle set-up, & yr rod & reel recommendations: basic stuff, sure... but reassuring. It's going to bleak, & will we need to eat.
Hi mate, I’m glad you’re enjoying the channel, there’s a tackle run down in a few different vids but if you have a look in the description of most vids you’ll find everything I’m using in there as well. Hope you had a good Christmas and here’s to a cracking 2023 👍🎣
Great video again Chris, going beach fishing tomorrow you have just warmed me up for my session cheers mate and have a smashing Christmas. 👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣
Cheers Glen. Tight lines for tomorrow and all the best 👍🎣
That was a bit of hard work Chris, beautiful conditions with the sun up lol, as always nice video ! Looking forward to the next. Merry Christmas and all the best for 2023 Chris.
Cheers Andy, it was a sunny but freezing day! Gorgeous weather for the time of year though. As soon as the sun got low it was very cold indeed! Have a great Christmas and New Year! 🥶🎣
Great one Chris, I've found that fingerless gloves help a lot with the cold. Merry Christmas and a happy and tight lines New Year to yah.🎣🎣👍
Thanks Rob, glad you enjoyed it. I’ve got fingerless gloves plus a Whitby hand warmer and that’s a good combo! Happy Christmas mate 👍🎣
@@onthedropfishing Whitby hand warmer? Is that what I think it is?🥃🥃😉
No it’s an actual hand warmer 🤣
@@onthedropfishing I like my idea better 😆😉
Excellent little trip mate, glad to see you out there and all the best for christmas 🎄 👍 🎣🎣
Thanks very much Remon, lush to get out in the winter sun. Have a great Christmas 👍🎣
Hi Chris,
Just found your channel and subscribed 😀 I'm a kayaker myself and I'm interested in your 24lb motor set up could you do a quick set up guide? It's coming to that time in life where getting out in the yak becomes less. I'm thinking the motor may be the answer, saving myself for breakdowns etc.. Great videos by the way, liking the energy and ethics I've seen you used for fishing and the fish.👍
Hi Lee, thanks very much I’m glad you’re enjoying the content and thanks for the sub! The motor is a prototype from Galaxy Kayaks I’m just field testing it at the moment. It’s designed specifically to fit in the Sturgeons pedal drive slot so there is t any set up really. I will run through the battery etc when I’ve got it permanently wired up. It’s just a temp job at the mo. The only complaint about the motor is how cold you get as you don’t need to paddle or pedal! Especially at this time of year! It does open up a whole range of possibilities though, and I’m im getting two or more trips a charge on it at the mo. Again thanks for the sub mate it’s much appreciated 👍🎣
Another mint video Chris 👍 I'd like to say thank's for all your videos throughout the year 👍 they've been bloody brilliant mate 🎣 have a Merry Christmas and all the best for the new year 🎉
Thanks very much I really appreciate you saying that. I’m glad you’ve been enjoying the channel this year. Stay tuned as I’ve got lots planned for 2023! Have a great Christmas and a cracking New Year 👍🎣
Hi Chris, admire that you're out fishing this time of year. My kayak hasn't been out since November!
What sort of depths are you fishing in here?
Hi mate, average depth is about 16-20 metres or 50 - 60 feet. Tight lines 👍🎣
Hi Chris, another fab video.....
Enjoy the channel so much and your chilled way of making your vids.
Keeps me entertained whilst conditions are unfishable on the rough north devon coast.
What make is your pfd BTW, looks like a good bit of kit. Was also wondering if you could send me a link on the lifepro battery that you use. Tight lines and wishing you a jolly festive season. Regards Barry
Hi Barry, thanks very much I’m glad you’re enjoying the content. The PFD is an NRS Chinook OS Fishing. I love it! The battery is an Ultramax LiFePO4 100ah. It’s the Bluetooth version which is super handy! If you Google it you’ll find them. Tight lines and happy Christmas 👍🎣
@@onthedropfishing thank you for your reply, much appreciated 🙏
hi Chris, i so enjoy your informative and enjoyable videos. Can you recomend a Stink for Polloch or do they all have similar results, Regards, Tom.
Hi Tom, thanks very much I’m glad you’re enjoying the content. I’m not really sure if the bait sprays make that much difference but I work to the theory they can’t be doing any harm. I don’t have a particular favourite, the ones I have are krill, squid, vanilla and blood worm. Hope that helps 👍🎣
Hi Chris, I have a sturgeon and would like to put a motor in it but don't know what one to go for. Galaxy kayaks are out of stock. I was wondering which one you went for. Thanks for your videos it was you who got me on the water, and I love it. 😊
Hiya, I’ve actually got the Galaxy specific motor for the Sturgeon FX that slots in where the pedal drive goes. I’m field testing it for them at the moment. I think they’ll have them in stock in the not to distant future though. It’s been fantastic so far. It’s pretty light and and doesn’t use much battery either. I’m so glad you felt inspired to get out there! It’s just the best way to fish isn’t it 👍🎣🎣
Thanks for your help. I will wait until they come into stock. Yes, the freedom is amazing. We have been out pike fishing the last few days. Cold not many fish but brilliant 👍 😀
Nice one Chris. Have you ever try to test scented lures against not scented lures?
Maybe put two same lure on drop shot spray one and not other and see which one fish is gonna take. I don't believe in scented lures when it comes to sea fishing. I spent good bit of a money on some "high end" scented lure, did got the fish on it, but not more than on a regular lures.
To be honest I think I’m of the same opinion. I’m not sure they make any difference. Early in the year maybe…..??? Coloured water…??? It certainly can’t do any harm though!
Tight lines mate 👍🎣
@onthedropfishing I 100% agree with you. The reason I aked this question is because I noticed in your videos that you use them quite a lot, and considering that you spray it before evey cast, I'd say that little bottle can't last long. 😁😁 I think we are already spending too much money o lures that will maybe catch a fish, why to waste extra on scented liquids.. lol.. 😀😀
But if you manage to find one that works really well, let us know, we "might" get it. Lol.. 😀😀 but I want to see a video scented lure against not scented one.. 🙂🙂🙂
fantastic video Chris.... what spray do you use on softbait?
Thanks very much I’m glad you enjoyed it. It’s called Sticky baits bait spray, not sure it makes that much difference but it certainly can’t be doing any harm. Tight lines mate 👍🎣
Hi Chris. I own a fibreglass kayak and I'm intending to purchase a mount and boom/arm to be able to fit a gopro toward the front of the Kayak. I wondered if you could give some advice on the right mount / arm to purchase including any pointers on set up's? thanks
Hi mate, I don’t know about drilling fibreglass but I can tell you I use a railblaza camera boom mounted to the kayak with a railblaza star mount.
As I say all of the kayaks I’ve owned have had brass inserts already in place so I don’t know what would be the correct way to add them to fibre. My mate had a Dorado (fibreglass) and it had rails on already but I think he added a star mount to the hatch lid. Tight lines pal 👍🎣
@@onthedropfishing Thanks Chris. Just so happens that mine is a dorado 2, so it's very similiar. Thanks for the pointers, I'll have a look :)
Mantap mas bro..
Salam from indonesia 🥰👍👍
Cheers mate, all the best 👍🎣
Excellent, can I ask what sprays you use and do they work.
Cheers mate, they’re sticky baits bait sprays. Not sure how much difference they make but they certainly can’t be doing any harm 👍🎣
Have you done any videos off Low Newton outer Carr? Looks like a steep drop off from 5m to 18m.
I know the drop off you mean and I’ve fished it before without a huge amount of success. There are better spots nearby, the same depth changes but on three or all sides makes the best fishing in my opinion, an “underwater island” if you like. There will be lots of wrasse on that drop off in the summer though. You can bet on that. Tight lines mate 👍🎣
Hi Chris. Local lad here, watching and learning from all your videos, aswell as very entertaining ta.
Finally about to get going in my firsy kayak. Im aiming for april. Cambois, Newboggin Beadnell most probs.
What supplier/site would you reccomend for lures? What all rounder half dozen would i start with?
Is 25gram ok? Whats heaviest youd recc for our area.....cheeors
Hi mate, I’m glad you’re enjoying the content. Any weedless shads in 25- 40g will do. The key though is light braid. Mono will catch the tide and lift your lures to high. I use 15lb braid or thereabouts. I just mooch around eBay and Ali express when I’m looking for lures. Tight lines 👍🎣
@@onthedropfishing ok Chris, ta and well noted thanks
Have you put your motor battery in a box Chris? I'm looking for a suitable dry box for mine. If you did what have you used? Cheers!
Hi Dave, it’s in a box but it’s the box I keep everything else in so not a dedicated battery box at the mo. That’s the plan though going forward 👍🎣
@@onthedropfishing Thanks for that Chris!
Hi Chri can you let me know what sprays from go outdoors you use thank you
Hi mate, they’re called Sticky Baits Bait Sprays and I’ve used pretty much all of the flavours. Tight lines mate 👍🎣
Do you Go out on your own Have you done a safety video About some of the stuff you use
Yes I go out alone quite often and I’ve got plans to do a vid on safety gear etc 👍🎣
cant think you you dont leave your fishing kit in the car for the winter, i always did
Yeah I’m out all year, rain or shine! 🤣🥶🎣
@@onthedropfishing i did go on a charter trip one spring and the skipper asked what the hell the smell was, i said it maybe my thermal suit, as it hadnt been washed all winter😂😂😂
@@johnkay7354 to be fair my drysuit is lifting with cod cack 🤣
Great video! Love how you said that you didnt get "Blanked" when you caught that first little one. We call it getting "Skunked" and we will take a little one over getting skunked any day! You did end up catching some nice ones! Thanks for sharing! I subbed and pls check out my channel!
Hey mate I'm glad you enjoyed the vid, sorry for the delay replying, UA-cam held your comment for review because you mentioned your channel, UA-cam doesn't like that 😂. Good luck with it and Tight lines pal 👍🎣
@@onthedropfishing wow I had no idea. Thx for the heads up. :)
What are you laughing at it's not even funny
You can always turn the volume down and put some tunes on John 😉 🎣
Hi pal I'm looking to buy a second hand galaxy sturgeon I was wondering if this model can be fitted with the centre paddles as the person I'm looking to get it from doesn't know its already got a battery motor fitted to the side but I'm looking at upgrading it,are you on Facebook so I can sent a picture to of it to have a look for me
I’ve messaged you on Facebook David 👍🎣
