Honestly it's my favorite one in the series. I've played the others but this was so amazing for its time and too this day bring back so many memories especially those cool songs I liked listening too on the GTA radio. Wish I still had it along with many other games I played from back then.
I remember back in the days that this game was a great controversy, _"you can actually steal cars and shoot at police with a bazooka!"._ Everyone wanted to have this game and it wasn't considered healthy for a 12 year old (me) to play it.
This is why you must show your kids the older games first, newer games later, let them know what "games" really are, and to show them that good games aren't always "good looking" and vice versa.

The whole game had moments of hilarity and was just twisted. I mean, a game named 'Kill Frenzy' with a game show host intro, congratulating you on your efforts., and when you ran into people or picked fights with them, they yelled 'BITE ME TWICE!' And that whole thing where you kill the line of orange men and you get 'GURUNGA!!' come up on your screen. The newer GTA's don't have those moments of dark humour that the original had.
of course rockstar didn't know, when they made this game...they created a game series that would become a legend, and remember, its not about graphics (some times) its about game play...I wish I gta (any) on a pc...cause I want mods

There were none at the time where you can deviate from linier game play This made it possible to do what you always wanted in a game and just kill stuff or get out and drive off. In 1997 there weren't any decent orginal games, just getting coins, sports or Doom style 1st persons shooters with the same plot and ending. Someone had an idea and ran with it.
I am 33 now. Really miss that time when I was playing this game after school. It was awesome... I remember all the sounds in the menu) street sounds .. crying
