I'm watching over and over, then I will be brave and practice.. 😂
I love your freehand quilting…you inspired me to try it!
Thank you for another empowering and inspiring video to just do it, get over the fears of failure and perfectionism and learn to enjoy the craft. You’re the best!
Haha! You should make a little quilt a that says “Sit on one cheek and stick out your tongue” 😂
And gift it to my mom!? Yes.
Oh i bet she would love it!
Omg what if you and your mama did a video together??
The cheap hack for the quilting gloves is the gardening gloves in dollar tree or dollar store.
Also the pharmacy sells (and sometimes gives away) compression stocking applicator gloves. Incredibly grippy!
This is very helpful and empowering. I haven’t done fmq in a long time because it always intimidates me but your video is inspiring me to try again. Thanks for sharing.
You explain things soo understandable..... Thank you!!!!
Thank you for this, I needed it.
Thank you!
I have heard that "scribbling " on paper with pen or pencil teaches muscle memory. I really need to scribble A LOT before putting needle and thread to s quilt!
Thank you for all the pointers.
Yep, even my 1948 Singer has free motion (darning) capabilities. I’ve never used it, so I should be inspired to try it. … if I can stop making garments for a moment! 😬
You have been a garment making machine lately! Haha, I go through phases too, I’m in a quilting era currently 😁
I just found you on UA-cam. I really enjoyed your fun approach to sewing. I'll be shopping at your Etsy store to support you. ❤
Great tutorial! Thank you!! ❤
Nikki👏👏👏. Thank you so much for this tutorial!!! I’ve heard others say if you take the time to doodle your idea on paper; it can be very helpful. They say it creates muscle memory- I’ve not done any yet but in my brain it makes sense🤪. ❤️😀
I just found you I’ve been watching video after video. I enjoy them I gotta say your hair looks so good to me short ! We mbrace it everyone can’t wear short hair.
Thank you!!
Loving playing around with this. Does it matter if the pattern isn’t perfect?
I’m kind of all around the place
No, it doesn’t matter! 🙌🏻
Do you have a tutorial on squaring up a quilt before binding?
No, but I will put that on the list 👍🏻
I have the same machine as you and I can't wait to try free motion quilting on it. Do you use any particular stitch length or tension setting?
No, the stitch length is moot with free motion because the feed dogs are the thing that regulates it. It’s all in how you move the fabric!
Does stitch length matter much?
Do u hand quilt on the dining table?
New to your channel and love it. Quick question about free motion quilting. Are you able to stop and start in the “middle” of your piece by simply sewing in place 2 or 3 times? You don’t need to knot on the backside? Concerned about it coming loose with washing.
Thanks for your videos. I actually tried my hand at free motion quilting and it wasn’t aweful. 😂
Yes, just stitch in place for a second and keep going! I’ve never had anything fall apart with this method 👍🏻
Do you start in the middle of the quilt or on the edge? I’ve seen other videos where they said to start in the middle. Just wondering what you advise?
On big quilts, I start in the middle! On these little ones, it makes less of a difference.
Do you just backstitch to tie off the ends when you stop and start again?
I do not, I just make sure to sew in the same spot for a few stitches, which is like making a knot of sorts.
What machine is this?
I have a Janome Memory Craft 6650 🙌🏻
For the life of me I can't figure out how to drop my feed dogs! My darning foot comes with a plastic cover for the feed dogs never stays in place, I'm so frustrated.
Oh no! What machine do you have?
I finished a quilt with out a foot during the beginning of covid when my broke while I waited for the replacement. Lol I don't recommend it.
Haha, I’ve seen people do it and I can barely watch!
