I really enjoy your videos and your style. I love improv or making things up as I go along. You’re keeping me company today while I knock out a few wips.
I love your wonky house quilt. I'm really excited to see the finished project
Am I the only one who appreciates the editing? It seems so smooth to me but I am in no way a professional.
ALSO I NEED HELP
Can someone pls explain in simple Imnewtosewing terms what the bias is? What it means? It’s going waaaay over my head.
Thank you in advance! Looooove your videos!!
I’ll tell me editor Layla (my 17-year-old) you said this, thank you! As for the bias, it means on the diagonal. So instead of cutting on the straight of grain in the direction the fibers are going, a bias cut is diagonal, at an angle. It allows much more stretch in the piece (which is good when you need it, but bad when you don’t) and it can even curve around things when cut on the bias, which is why we cut some bindings that way if there are curves, like a neckline of a dress, or a quilt with rounded corners. Hope that answers your question!
Thank you for repeating the fact that HSTs are never perfect. I have been quilting for over 20 years but I don't make any pattern with triangles. Mainly, because I have never met a triangle I couldn't mess up. I even bought a ruler set that you trim the HST before you open it, and they still mess up. I like your method of making the squares bigger and PLANNING to trim them down. That gives me hope that I might be able to make HSTs one day. Thanks, again.
I am am a beginner and I find your videos very helpful TFS🌴💕
I have a quilt that started years ago using half square triangles - thank you for the nudge to get it back out and try to finish it ❤
Thank you, that was very helpful !!!!!
Thanks for all these tips!! I do like making half-square triangles!
Here for all the videos and Christmas in July! 🎅🥳
I’m so glad to see a professional jam up their sewing machine. I do that all the time. I just thought I didn’t know what I was doing. 😂
😆 you’re welcome
I love the overflowing of ideas as long as you have a way to joy them down and not lose them!
I've tried this method as well as a few others and just caved and bought the Creative Gride Folded Corner rulers. Maybe once I have more experience I'll revisit this technique.
That's really neat! I love how your mind works and you tell us this stuff about placement and the artistic elements
Thank you for this motivation! I have a quilt full of half square triangles that has been sitting needing finished. Maybe 2024 is there year?! 😂
The reason that there are lots of different ways to do things is because it works. People need to find the way they like and then leave other people to choose the method that they like.
I love this. I'm currently making scrappy journal covers and will be adding some of these.
Terrific video! Thanks for the reminder on squaring the HSTs. I absolutely love watching you do your thing. Your sense of humor is wonderful and makes me laugh out loud. I can't wait to see what ideas you have for the new year.
Love everything you do.. particularly loved the end of this one.. thanks for making the quilt patterns easy..
What a valuable tip on making half-square triangles! I have avoided them like the plague. Thank you, also, for writing out the whole words. Can't tell you how many times I have been left scratching my head trying to figure out all the initials. Simplified quilt math. I can do this!
I love watching your videos!
Oh man, my Janome is giving me fits right now and that is one of the many irritating things it does! I am going to have to take it to the shop to get looked at. I can't wait to see what other videos you'll be coming up with! This was a good one, I need inspiration!
I love your quilt and can't wait to see it grow!
I'm in the middle of a 6" finished, blue/black/white chevron HST quilt for my daughter's bed. It's been great fun. All the HSTs are sewn and trimmed, all 192 of them.
I love your wonky houses so much that I bought fabric to make a wonky house quilt. I didn't know you had cars too. If you haven't done it as a video yet, please do a video with the cars! I'd love to do those as well! I love your videos!
I'm working on the next video for this quilt and it does include the cars!
Great tips and wow I love your wonky apartment quilt as it organically progresses. Adorable and inspiring. I too am a wonky house watcher and found it freeing. I made a house quilt last year but it's soooo rigid next to these. The whimsy times ten. Right up my alley.
Can’t wait to try!!!
I, too, want to try the wonky houses! I just love watching your video! Very helpful and fun!
thank you for the great video!
Thank you 🤗🪡🧵❤️
Ah, looks so easy, just the way I like it!
Great tutorial, thank you!! Is there a video youve made about your tiny ironing setup?? Im obsessed, it seems so convenient 😍
Yes! I talked about it in this video: ua-cam.com/video/N0BibQA3lmU/v-deo.html
Thank you so much ❤
Thank you so much for your and 'Kroger shopper's ( so funny, by the way) efforts in making these fun and informative videos. A New Year goal is to get more into sewing, and these videos are an inspiration. Many thanks again.
Really great tutorial on HSTs. 🎉🎉🎉 I use the same method most of the time. Have a wonderful New Year!! Iam excited to watch, learn and grow with you in 2024. 🎶💐💖
Love this thank. Great easy to follow.
Thank you so much I love your VIDEOS do you have a video on how to balance fabrics within a quilt
Not yet but great idea!
I’m new to your channel and just retired and would love to add quilting to my hobby list.
What size measurements would a quilt be for my 5 year old great grandson?
Did you get new scissors for Christmas? They look very fancy . . .
Great video! I also have a Janome machine. I thought it looked familiar…what is your machine?
Great video! I can't wait to see the wonky house quilt. Was your machine misbehaving there at the end? Hopefully, everything was okay. ❤😊
Yes haha! It’s fine. Shoulda held my threads 😅
Hello. I was wondering if you always wash your new material before sewing with it? I’m often conflicted though I’ve heard we always should.
I usually do, but not always, like fat quarters that just get wadded up in the wash lol. Some people always do and some never do, which tells me it matters less than we think 🙃
@@PinCutSew Thank you!
Hobby Lobby sells quilting thread which is thicker than all-purpose thread. In your opinion, do you think quilting thread is worth the money? Hobby Lobby always sells their thread notions etcetera less expensive than Walmart does but I can get more thread if it's all purpose at Walmart but spend $3 a spool instead of 99 cents or $1.49 . Do I need quilting thread and if I do, why?
I use Hobby Lobby thread a lot, but I find it gets super fuzzy, and I have to clean my machine out constantly with it! The Guterman doesn’t do that. You do not have to use quilting thread specifically, mine is just all purpose. You should use what you like, I’ve quilted entire quilts with Hobby Lobby thread and they’re just fine :)
Love the houses. Thanks for sharing info on the half square triangles.
