Pan did a masterful job with this interview. The hardest thing to do when interviewing someone is to let them speak and tell their story without constantly interjecting. Awesome interview. I work in wealth management and completely relate to Matt’s story.
As I get mature and grow in my career, the more I appreciate what Obsessed Garage offers. I'm very much a quality over quantity person these days and want the best of what my options are. OG is the shortcut to just that. I can't afford the full garage setups and tool packages but I still want the best of the items I can / am shopping for. Keep at it Matt. We appreciate what you do and your passion / story are inspiring! I share that hardworking passion in being the best I can be wherever I am. It resonates so well.
As someone who owned my own business for 20 years, I relate completely to this story. I've always said, "for those who've never had to sweat a payroll, they have nooooo idea." I mean that literally and metaphorically... Continued success to both of you. It ain't easy.... Shine on you crazy diamonds! 🚘
@@audieconrad8995 totally agree. You have to pay others before yourself. You get paid only if there’s enough left and money in the tool to pay upcoming bills too
Big question I have for Matt is: “How have you been able to get your spouse/partner to support and back you with your entrepreneur endeavors? What would you advise someone who has aspirations to do similar projects but has a partner who struggles to see the long term vision?” Your wife seems like an incredibly supportive partner 👍🏻
Most women aren't supportive of their husband to chaise a dream. That's because as scared as you are to try and potentially fail, they're even more afraid of you to fail. This is why it's best to take all the risk when you're single and don't have any children.
You need a ride or die. Ask yourself if you would do it for your wife and how you would help. Need to be okay with losing money at first and have the tenacity to keep going. If it's a super dumb business or idea I get it, but otherwise they should help you get there and be willing to sacrifice some immediate things for a better life later.
@ that’s the toughest lesson to teach people who don’t come from entrepreneurial households. So many modern folks are stuck on instant gratification and don’t have the grit to hold off.
This was an absolute stellar interview… the rawness and integrity Matt brought to the conversation was so appreciated; and the way you Pan, so respectfully carried the conversation and your delivery in the questions you asked was very tastefully done. I have so much respect for Matt’s vision and the work he’s put into his brand-thank you Pan for bringing his story to the community in a different light.
I’ve only watched OG a few times, never really cared for him. I always thought Matt was a bit of an ass, but I’m glad I watched this video. I have a little more respect for him now.
I didn’t know anything about Matt before this other than he ran Obsessed Garage. I really enjoyed this interview. I learned a lot and respect him for telling his story. I’m glad he s so open about the struggles physically and mentally. I appreciate the candor.
I ordered $750 worth of parts on November 29, received half of them December 13-still waiting on the rest. I ordered another $800 worth of stuff on December 12 - still waiting. Dude needs to fix his shipping department
You must have ordered something that was not in stock. I allow people to order things on what I call Reserve Your Spot. That locks you place in line so it ships when the product arrives. This is how the Holiday season usually goes.
It’s not OG…usps has been terrible. The holiday season is killing everyone. I had a shipping nightmares from other companies also. The quality is worth the wait
Thanks Pan and Matt for the sit down. I really look up to you two for what you have done in your respective industries. I like that Matt was real about the fact that the vast majority of people may not “hit the lottery” when it comes to building out a successful business or even developing a passion to follow. I have always felt that i have something to give back to people. I have always worked hard. The part that I feel like I have failed at was doing what others would want me to do instead of doing what I want to do. Some may think that is a detriment, I often wonder if it is as well. I am the least confident, confident person I know. I think it’s because I don’t trust in myself but I trust my abilities. I am 47 now and want to be successful. Some might think that I have been successful in life but I know I have not made it to where I want to be. Anyways, I’ll keep plugging along and follow my opportunities while developing my passion. Who knows, maybe one day I will hit that lottery and feel like I no longer work for my living! Thanks again for the inspiring discussion!
Inspiring for sure. It’s funny to me seeing people hate on Matt and I myself was leaning that way but I instead appreciate his honesty and get inspiration as I’m working towards using my passions towards entrepreneurship. Awesome interview pan. EC might even say “the best!”😂
I have watched thousands of UA-cam videos, and hands down, this is the most impactful video I have ever watched. Thank you so much for doing this video.
Best video of the year Pan! God only knows how much of an Obsessed Garage fan I am. Without embellishment, I have easily sent 10s of thousands of dollars off the OG website. Matts personality is the success of OG!!!
I absolutely loved this interview. Fantastic hearing Matt’s detailed history (I’ve heard it several times)-I keep learning and truly appreciated his honesty. Pan, you did a great job asking questions at the right time and intently listening as well. Thank you.
Got flashbacks listening to his story. I got my first investment license 9/6/2001 straight out of college. I too moved ti Florida and do not come from money. I tell people I come from hard work not money. Detailing my vehicles is a stress reliever as the human body releases endorphins when doing physical work and not mental stress.
This interview is fantastic guys! It’s great to get an idea of the true person behind the camera. It definitely helps the younger generation for their future endeavors. But congratulations to you both on overcoming a lot of your struggles and becoming more successful in reaching your goals. Good luck to Matt and Pan to their future successes. Thanks again guys…very inspiring!
Matt, I love your mantra follow opportunity and develop your passion. At 71 I can tell you if you work hard and be honest to what you do, things will happen and opportunities will come along. I follow a similar slogan "Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass, it's learning how to dance in the rain."
guess there's no break even for Christmas? It's 32 degrees outside and I'm going to wash my car now. At lease I'll just do a light polishing and probably only takes 2 to 3 hours.
@@DanielReyes-hz1qk I'm listening while washing my car right now... someone gave me a nice set of noise cancelling headphones so I can't hear my pressure washer much. although it's still kind of cold at 32 degrees. :)
Good interview, somewhat motivating and explains Matt's behavior well. Sometimes it's important to reveal such topics and this video was a great example. People joke about me that I wash my car 2-3 times a week, but I have the cleanest and shiniest car I see every day and it's already an addiction😄
Hi Pan and Matt, That was a compelling watch and a great insight to the philosophy you both have.👍 This video should be played to kids in school, to enable them to adopt a good work ethic and a good philosophy of life, in terms of how to conduct themselves. All the very best to you both for the New Year. Thanks, John.

What does he sell that is overpriced? He sells for retail or lower. Or are you just making stuff up? It isn't up to OG to make less profit for your sense of entitlement.
