This is the Field King 2 gallons sprayer (affiliate link) amzn.to/3upF6wG there are some issues with some of them not re-pressuring fast enough. I experienced this when I did my second spray app. I have sent an email to my contact at The FountainHead Group to see if he has any explanation for what's going on. I've heard from enough of you to believe this is an ongoing issue.
Looking to redo my lawn... I burned off the old lawn and now looking at a desert landscape... Should I treat my soil all summer until fall seeding??? If so what do you recommend for emending my soil???
I was doing my Humic 12 app this weekend and was running into this problem. I would manually drop the pressure myself to get the pump to kick back on. It seemed to work better with the flood jet than when I used the red tip.
Ryobi’s backpack sprayer has worked out pretty well for me. Battery powered. Pretty affordable. It doesn’t pressurize the tank, but instead just pressurizes the hose, so you could spray even with the lid off (not that you would). I’ve found it sprays a gallon in 2.5 minutes on the highest setting. The tip it comes with seems to work just fine. It maintains constant pressure for as long as you hold the trigger. Hopefully it lasts for awhile. Only use it for around the house
@LCN, what is your opinion on the sprinkler injection systems. My grandfather custom built a system inside the garage that is scheduled into their sprinkler system via valves, they have it piped in on a secondary main line water intake that blocks the main line and forces the well water through the line that pulls the fertilizer and other chemicals he adds. They do a scheduled once a month fertilizer on their entire property which uses the sprinklers for application that is siphoned out of 5 gallon bucket he mixes the chemicals into. They use masterblend fertilizer on St Augustine because he swears by it and can get it in large 55lb sacks rather cheaply.
Awesome video! I just received my Field King yesterday. I got sick and tired of the ortho sprayer and dealing with the hose. I just need to order the right tip now and I’ll be set.
Can’t wait for your sprayer! You have a sale here for sure!! Can’t wait to see the future video on it!!! I have an older model field king and it hasn’t given me any issues to date.
Tried the Ortho sprayer, it was a no go. Basic hose end sprayer works fine for my Bio Pack liquids. Compute amount of liquid per sq ft and go. Supplement with , as you said , a basic pump sprayer.
I'm getting the Field King for the meantime, but I will want one of your backpack sprayers! I have a Stihl now but it's a 5 gallon pump - and it is torture keeping that thing pumped.
I've retired all of those hose end sprayers I've acquired over the years and my Chapin backpack sprayer, but they are there just in case I ever need a backup. They required too much setup and time. Now, I only use the Flowzone Typhoon 2 and a couple TeeJet nozzles (AIC 11010 and XRC 8006). This combination is a beast and covers all my spraying needs and can spray anything. I mix my solution in a 5 gallon buck with a drill and mixer and pour into sprayer.
I think we all appreciate the value you provide. I'll still be picking up the field king for now and when I want to graduate to something larger I'll get yours.
What a tease! I just told my wife I was looking for a backpack sprayer this weekend. I need to lay down some Celsius WG for lawn burweed. Now today, I’m putting the spread sheet together for FULL LIQUID. Gotta love a 25,000 sq/ft yard.
Beautiful weather in your old stomping grounds this weekend. I grew up in Tinley and now live in Palos Park. FLA is nice, but as you know, springtime in Chicago is fantastic. Just put down NEXT-Rgs on 25,000 sqft. Thanks for the Videos.
Only 6 seconds in and grateful for this video as I've been wondering what to do with both my orthos. The canisters never sit right, it gets clogged in different spots, it leaks, etc.
I have no problem with the ortho hose end sprayer. I do use a pump sprayer (Hudson’s sprayer non battery sprayer ) for my green Effect 7-0-0 app. No issues.
Great comparison of “erbs” that get watered in verses those that stay on top and also items that can be mixed together. Overall full of great info for the DYI’s. Don’t get to riled up over the guys that cut corners. Life is too short as they say. 😁Thank you Allen!
Thanks Allyn! Been catching up on the blogs. Helpful info on the tips. Bought the Field King last summer and don't recall any issues while using it. Did buy the Petrus HD4000 4 Gal Back Sprayer over the winter. Breaking it out this week. Look forward to seeing the YM 4 Gal Sprayer. Hope you had a good Easter.
For me the Field King 2 gallon, which I purchased February 6, 2021, works well and has a consistent pressure. Problem is it appears to be 10 PSI and not 20 PSI as advertised. So all my times are doubled. That's fine for me cause I like an easy walk and not a rushed one.
Happy belated Easter Allyn. You’re my go to guy. Was looking at both Scott’s and Field King battery powered sprayers on Amazon this morn. Was lucky enough to see your most recent video talk about issues about this particular sprayer; battery output and battery short life. I’ll save my money and wait for yours to come out, regardless of how long that might take. These other products seem too ‘hit and miss’. Thanks for being there!
Great instruction as always. Bought a backpack sprayer and used for the first time today. Definitely had to put “some ass into it” going to study your t-jet tips vs what I added on.
'It works ... because ... that's the one I have!' Yeah buddy, that's us regular Joe's out there! Good video today. Lawns up here in Palm Harbor are looking good. It's gonna be a good year.
Mr. Allyn Hane - Thanks for another great video - I am going to purchase the Field King Tank but cannot use the Celsius product in my TTTF lawns what alternatives-substitutes would you recommend. Thanks!
We use an anti-foam called Shake Down by BASF. We spray a lot of fence lines for cropland, and around the farm yard with different herbicides that tend to foam. This stuff lets us fill more in our 15 and 40 gallon atv sprayers without making a mess. Doesn't seem to affect the performance of the herbicide or NIS. You can get it at tractor supply and stores like it, and you use less than a drop for each fill. We've had the same 1 liter bottle for 3 years now
I had one and it was probably the worst hose end sprayer I’ve tried. It’s shape and size makes it very uncomfortable to use, and it’s a bit bulky on the end of a hose. I stopped using it after a few weeks when it started leaking from the handle seams, and left it in the back yard. A few months later I went to move it and the bottle started cracking, so the plastic used has very weak UV protection. I didn’t bother getting it replaced because I didn’t want another one! I called Fountainhead for a warranty replacement and while they conducted the conversation with an "its all your fault" attitude, they did agree to send a replacement in the name of customer relations. Once the new unit arrived, I disassembled the old powerhead and found the problem was a poor factory solder job which connected the battery wire to the motor. It simply vibrated apart. I plan to buy your new sprayer as soon as it hits the market. Thanks for making that happen.
As I have explored the Fountainhead Group I have found that they put a lot of different names on the same sprayer. They license the brand as a way to sell product so for sure the Huqvarna is pretty much the same. They have a Scotts version too.
LCN, I'm curious if you have any recommendations for a fan tip for the Field King. I read your blog on the sprayer tips and see that you mention using the stock tip for the fan spray with more of a mist for leaf application in this video. Have you come to any conclusions? I was looking at Sprayer Plus' site and am thinking the XR8003VS Tee Jet might work for me, but I'm not sure if I'm reading things on there like I should. There is a ton of information on their site to soak in for sure. Thank you for all you do.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, your videos are great. I have a rather large lawn(3 acres) and I need some tips on getting rid of wild strawberries in my lawn. Any tips to get them under control?
I was about to buy one but ill wait till you come out with one of your one , hopefully you have a 2 gallon option since i dont need a 4 gallon back pack 😎👍
@@frankieb8974 you can spray that in one tank as long as you have a 7:1 ratio water to product so a 2 gallon tank would be 32 oz of Green Pop. Fountainhead group does make a 3 gallon that fits this head, so that’s how I’m going to run it 😎
Hey big Al, are those two foliar insecticides and herbicides that you put down with greeneeffect, safe for KGB and ok to apply earlier in the spring. Cheers from Utah.
I bought a field king sprayer last year and can say I experience the same battery issue. I'm at the point I have to manually push the button myself every other pass to keep the pressure charged. I still like it over the manual pump sprayers though.
Update. Was on my second season with it and the battery crapped out. Won't even re-charge. Good news is I sprung for a Yard Mastery 4-Gallon Battery Backpack Sprayer. I love that thing!
A few years ago, I ended up with a Grounds Wheelie II because I got a great deal on a used one that just needed new hoses; it's overkill for my little yard, but it gets the job done in record time. If I ever need another sprayer, I'll have to keep the forthcoming battery powered backpack sprayer in mind though!
I've used a Ryobi sprayer for the last 2 years but I only use it for spraying pesticides around the house and weed and grass killer in the rock areas out front.
I wish you would show a video that discusses using a riding lawnmower pulling small battery operator sprayers and the tips to use for those of us that have larger lots and want to do our own lawn and garden care.
I'm sure this has been asked before but can I put all 4 of the bio-stim pack in a 2 gallon sprayer? I have only 1000 square feet of lawn and will be doing 3 ounces of each monthly like castleBerry suggested. So 12 ounces total of the 4 bio-stim products in the sprayer
Hope you had a great Easter!! I have one of those 2 gallon sprayers and its worked good so far, also bought a Flozone Cyclone 2 backpack and love that to death. I cant wait to see what yall put out on the market!! :)
Happy Easter. I upgraded to a hand pump backpack sprayer and plan to upgrade to a battery backpack sprayer, and have the older backpack sprayer for the "ides".
I have the Scotts battery sprayer.....have had it years, didn't know better buy field king but I've made it work. And it works okay. But I really like my Ortho Dial and spray too. I do make sure to clean it super well every time I use it. I clean the tank and run a bunch of clean water through it. Bottom line for me is i like the ortho for doing biostims....I have small yards, only 3600sqft or so. But I do like to be able to tank mix in a pre emergent when it's that time of year. I have uses for each.
Any chance you have tried this nozzle for finer sprays? XR11004VS Extended Range Spray Tip, 0.18-0.37 GPM, 30-60 psi, Stainless Steel - Red. Discovered it on Princess Cut Lawn Care who you know well. Can be purchased on Amazon and Sprayer Depot as well. Many thanks for all the great info. I now have neighbors asking me what my magic is when they see my front lawn. And my answer? The Lawn Care Nut!
Yep. I will absolutely be waiting for the backpack sprayer. I know it’s going to be good if your putting your name behind it. I’ll tough it out with the pump sprayer for now. By the way, your granular fert that you sell works great in the earth way spreaders. Didn’t have to do the bounce move at all. Lol. Keep up the good work. Keep dominating.
I had my pump just stop after I had it like 3 months then I talked to Amazon and they sent me a new one so I took the original one apart and it was a loose connection to the battery so I had to Solder it back on
Quick question ., an adjunent makes a product stick to the leaf and a surfactant makes the product go into the soil better, correct?. Also to help with the the foam they sell a product on Amazon called no foam. It's been a good product for keeping the foam at bay, a little goes a long way too.
A suggestion for your backpack sprayer is a pressure gage, showing the discharge pressure of the pump. It would help in selecting the right spray tip that puts out 1 gal for a given pressure. I guess I have another suggestion, incorporating the measurement increments of the liquid as part of the tank, raised numbers not painted. Currently I have a back pack sprayer that has a sticker showing the gallon increments which I hate.
