Although for Cyberpunk I’ve only seen Akira and some movies, my favorite Sci Fi anime is probably Mobile Suit Gundam which tackles evolution, war technology and how war affects people.
I watched a couple of the anime you listed here and I would personally rate Cyberpunk Edgerunners as a 9/10, while I would give Ergo Proxy a 7/10. I also enjoyed Psycho-Pass 2 and 3, but I know that’s a hot take lol Great recommendations, some of these really deserve more attention. Battle Angel Alita, Metropolis, and Goku Midnight Eye also deserve a spot here.
Psycho Pass is an anime I return to time and time again. While I agree that Season 1 is almost perfect on its own, I do like some of the aspects that Season 2 presents despite its more flawed execution.
Thank you for talking about all these series, especially the more niche ones. As anime is becoming more mainstream, a vacuum for what is being watched is only growing on the day. Finding people who still talk about old OVA's and experimental shows is becoming far less common. These series really deserve more attention and I'd be really interested in more videos of this nature..
I highly recommend Genocidal Organ. It's a really interesting cyberpunk movie on how language shapes thought, and in the end how technology shapes society and people. It is a bit mature and has that "ghost in the shell" amount of prose, but it's worth it.
Oh my fav subgenre is in the spotlight :D look forward to watching the video and what anime you talk about (since there are quite a few great ones, e.g. ergo proxy and texhnolyze)
It’s impossible to adapt blame into an anime. And even if they did manage to perfectly replicate Niheis style, most of the anime would be just Kily walking around without anything happening. People are already dumb enough to just skip over all those pages in the manga and ignore the brilliant visual storytelling. Now imagine those elements being shown to the much wider anime audience which is already full of the dumbest individuals you could possibly think. Wouldn’t work very well. So that’s why the blame movie just changed the story to give a plot that even your average single cell organism can understand. Decent way to promote the manga I guess. But that’s as far as any attempt to adapt blame can go
@@fan4every1lol89 at least a full adaptation of the story will be great. The netflix anime doesn't really qualify as an adaptation because it is sort of an original story but inspired by a chapter of the manga. I don't really mind CGI but I find that Poligon Pictures style of animation ripped the original work of its personality.
@@fan4every1lol89 that still doesn’t change the fact that what blame does is only possible in manga form. Turning it into an anime would most definitely take away a lot of the elements that make blame good
@@alexenterprises1 you do you, but to me they were weird, thats it. I'm just an echo to the system, though. Do what you feel like, its your piece of content, and it's up to you to decide what you want. I'm not sure about what you think about this, but I personally care not about scores above a certain threshold, and I am much more interested in what "grabbed" the viewer, and why it was worth spending time with.
Some may find the lack of scores strange, but when you tell why you enjoyed a show, that means much more than a sheer number. It also connects the viewer with you, because they feel more personal. Sometimes an 7/10 show can be just pure fun, or can have an amazing world, or have something unique that makes it worth watching. This got way too deep lol
I really hope Pluto will get its long awaited international recognition so maybe we can get more proper amazing anime adaptation from Urasawa sensei like 20th CB & Billy Bat. Maybe even a live action of "Monster" since I believe it's perfect as Crime thriller TV series. As for Cyberpunk Edgerunners, I think it should get a sequel & stayed with CDPR & TRIGGER to continue the projects. Technically, TRIGGER actually managed to make more than one season series (i.e. GRIDMAN universe anime series) & the same stand alone format could easily applied to Cyberpunk RED/2077/Edgerunners universe, for example "Cyberpunk Chrometrauma."
Great homage to the cyberpunk genre and def very deep and subjective matter so i understand why u can't name all related works but still I am bit surprised that u didn't mentioned Johnny Mnemonic (1994) movie; I know it didn't have an anime but I thought its worth mentioning [and it also features a little segment from Demon City Shinjuku (1988)]...Another one is Metropolis (1927) movie and its anime Metropolis (2001), I think that's as far as u can go deep down the cyberpunk iceberg in motion-picture history... I am not sure these counts but I also recommend Elfen Lied (2004) series, Cyber City Oedo 808 (1990) series, Appleseed (1988 and 2004), Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (2000) and few more out there... (maybe Blame! (2017) and Terminator Salvation: The Machinima (2009) series? - its really hard to separate AI and Cyberpunk sci-fi sub-genres)
Never would’ve heard about Exception were it not for you. I’m usually no fan of CG either (though I think it looks good on machines), but I think Amano’s designs work with it. Did Tsutomu Nihei work on Technolyze? The MC looks so much like one of his characters I’d be surprised if not
I’ve never seen Key the Metal Idol but it’s a ‘90s that may need some examination. Our current social media culture and how she needs so many friends?? Someone make this video so I can figure out if I should watch this anime.
Yes, go watch it. It's not perfect, and it has issues towards the end, like being too wordy and overexplaining things that don't need it. But it's definitely unique, solid 7 for me.
Cyberpunk was 9/10, psychopass was 3/10, Ergoproxy 9.5/10, Memories 7/10 Lain 10/10, Texhnolyze 10/10 I mean this 10s, best anime ever created. Out of thousands these at the summit along with shigurui The uploader seems juvenile in his perspective
Have a fab weekend, everyone!
Don't tell me what to do
Oh, fu@k, he's alive!!!
Thank you for talking about texhnolyze, it's my favorite show of all time!!
Bubblegum Crisis and the Armitage movies are 2 of my favorite cyberpunk animes not mentioned but worth a look
Cyberpunk Edgerunners came out of no where and made an impact, it was really great. + Can’t wait for the Pluto adaptation

No guns life, one of the coolest adaptation of the cyberpunk world ever.
Definitely a Madhouse Gem
Thank you and right up there with dorohedoro

What style or other anime with the quality that could do Blame justice?

Fair enough! Will refrain from putting a score on them in future haha

Anime was exploring the Cyberpunk genre in the 90's and 2000's , now all those have aged well, we need to create awareness about them
Texhnolyze is a depressing Cyberpunk masterpiece 10/10 easy
