    My only complaint about living in East Texas is the sand dirt. No matter how well you maintain your lawn you still make dust especially during the summer. The only way around it is to spray the yard and mow to keep the dust down. I wished Toro would have put a throttle control lever on this model especially to run at lower rpm through areas that have small patches of grass. I have one in layaway and I'm going to remove the foam in the gas tank to regain some gas volume since this tank is small. Someone told me this was a work around for a leaking gas cap,I know the earlier model had that issue but Toro could have fixed that with a deeper threaded cap. Dust or not I'm getting one to cut down on my mowing time because I get wore down edging and trimming due to bad back and neuropathy especially if I have to double cut yards. Gator makes really good blades for these Toro 30 inch.

      They do save time for sure. But I wouldn’t remove that sponge because the mower is at more risk of vapor locking but I have seen people remove it. I can cut about 20,000 square feet (1/2 acre) on one tank of gas. Thanks for watching 👊🏼💯

    Those Ripper blades look impressive! Being we run our timemasters on most of our yards, I’m curious how well the Rippers hold up compared to the OEM’s. Please give us an update from time to time. For the price, I would consider getting a set of blades to test on one of our mowers.

      @@TheLawnFellas Well from a residential Toro 30 owner I can say the heavier blades while cutting good do a lot of wear and tear on the mower. Might not as much on the commercial versions. However I noticed belts going faster and more frequent oil changes over a period of 1 yr using them. I eventually went back to the OEM which seemed to resolve those issues. I think there are some things the Residential was not meant to use in terms of heavier blades. But I say it is your equipment , use and abuse it how you see fit.

      @@TheLawnFellas I don't doubt they test them but they can't test them under every condition. Varies from grass type, cut height, type of soil, weather even age of your mower. I live in Texas and right about this time we have high humidity which is hard on anyone. I don't tend to mow wet grass, that alone was alot of stress on the belts and engine with heavier blades so I have to mow in 100 degree weather with low humidity usually after 2pm. Heat wise it is still a stress on the mower. Luckily I have yards with good shade so I am not directly out in the sun. I went back to the OEM to hit early in the morning regardless of how wet the lawn was. Don't have anymore struggle on the blades which is fine.

      I don’t want to bash the blade I just feel like the OEM Blade is better. If you were cutting your own properly and getting it cut 5-7 days it might look nice. I just think it’s definitely a heavier blade and will last longer than the OEM Blade.

  • @CB57

    Thoughts so far on these? I got a set of the Hi Rise blades and they’re ok. Cut 3-4 times with them so far. Lot of suction and vacuum..enough to pull up dead clippings sitting down in the turf. But might be a little too much for this mower as far as weight and vacuum. Jury is still out.

    • @TheLawnFellas
      @TheLawnFellas  2 роки тому +1

      Yes the ripper blades are heavier so on nice manicure lawns they work well on overgrown properties and my biweekly lawns not so good. Grass grows like nobody's business when you don't pick it up, all your doing is fertilizing the lawn so you end up needing to do twice as much cuts in a year which is not handy unless you have nothing better to do.

      It’s actually good for the soil. But I also Dethatch ,aerate, and overseed my lawn which helps it. If you don’t dethatch and aerate you should probably want to bag it more often than not.

But for this purpose I wanted to show these blades in extreme cutting conditions on the side lawn. I cut my front at a different height. But this timemaster actually has 250 hours on it and had the same belts, fuel filter, etc….
