- Since I first heard him rap in 2014, Your Old Droog has always been one of my favorite rappers. His latest album 'Time' has a song called 'Please Listen To My Jew Tape' where he reminisces on his career, and this inspired me to look down memory lane and examine his career and what makes me enjoy his music so much.

I first heard yod on the alchemist tape the good book..didnt know who it was at the time but now im glad hes doing great things.
He raps in Russian on "Malchishka Krutoy". As a person from Russia, it's very funny to me to listen to this track, in which he makes a lot of grammatical mistakes, but still respect him for his music. Peace to all. Thank you too for your videos about the underground

I mean he's prolly rapping in Ukrainian. Obviously they're from the same language family but they aren't identical. He also prolly had to modify the bars a bit to fit with the english bars.

Hello Def. Thank you for the interesting information. I'm a 44 hip-hop head from Russia, and I know some things... And I want to correct your mistake so that you do not mislead other listeners. ДРУГ (DROOG) means friend in Russian, not in Ukrainian. The word "DROOG" is taken from Anthony Burgess's "A Clockwork Orange". In this book, the characters spoke in slang, mixing English with Russian words. Matter-of-fact. 90 percent of people living in Ukraine speak Russian, including Jews.

Great video. I've known Edan since he went to Berklee in Boston and dropped his album Primitive Plus. Edan is a perfectionist and if you want to see what a perfect YOD album will sound like - it will likely be the one produced by Edan.
I'm hoping to do an Edan video sometime in 2022, the more I get into his music the more I realize he's one of the most brilliant minds that rap has seen

I don’t speak the language myself so I’m not sure but when I google it the translation says Droog means “close friend”. Wouldn’t be the first time that google had faulty info though
Droog does mean friend, Burgess borrowed that word from Russian. The word for friend is ever so slightly different in Ukrainian, but I’m sure theres some overlap
