  • Having fun with this great and enjoyable album. Plus, I talk a lot about food and play wayyyyy too much with my camera. Your Old Droog - Topic
Skye's Stamp: "Nightmares and Dreams" • Your Old Droog - Night...
Please Note: While Borscht is Slavic, it is NOT Serbian. My wife wanted to make sure that you didn't get the impression that it common food in Serbia. She says that her recipe is based on the traditional Russian/Ukrainian style, so that works.

Happy you are reviewing Your Old Droog he is really interesting and deserves all the attention. I avoided watching your review until now because after listening to the album I chose to recommend it on my channel as well. I have listened to and enjoyed his previous projects, but YOD Stewart is especially likable!

So glad you finally touched on YOD. So underrated. Would love to see that Boldy review whenever you have time prof. Probably my favourite stuff from him.

TIME by YOD is my favorite Droog album. DUMP YOD is a close sexond, especially with the legendary posse cut of Pravda.

i would say you'd get the most out of Dump YOD: Krutoy Edition since he does stick to the Ukrainian and Slavic themes on there more. also he had a short project earlier this year fully produced by Craven that i'm surprised you didn't cover.
my favourite albums of Droog's would be: Packs, It Wasn't Even Close, Jewelry, and Time. he has been insanely consistent and prolific so there's no bad album to go to next really.

Regarding the crouton line. Caesar refers to a type of haircut but it also refers to a Caesar salad. Bread refers to money and crouton is also made from bread. So it means putting a price (bread) on someone's head (Caesar) like you place croutons on a Caesar salad. But the Krutoy theory is also pretty interesting.

Thank you for this. I’d love to hear your thoughts on Dump YOD: Krutoy Edition, and Jewelry, which are definitely the most personal Droog albums with him talking about his Ukrainian and Jewish heritage. They are older projects so really I hope you listen and enjoy cuz I know you don’t do older projects.
    And for favourite Droog bar:
“My shorty live, last Brazilian wax your ho copped was a dusty bossanova 45”

I love YOD was not expecting you to cover his work! Droog is hilarious. Time, Jewelry, It wasn't even close, DUMP YOD are some classic work in my eyes. I still can't hear the Nas comparison.

My favourite "Whut?!" line that I would love to see you pick apart is "Get those cheques(Czech's) out like Vaclev Havel" from the It Wasn't Even Close album. But DUMP YOD: Krutoy Edition is the album I'd love to see you delve into.
Can I start a petition for you to dive into one old album each month? Let the fans vote and give you a chance to delve into other parts artist's oeuvre you've missed

great to see you discuss Droog! just a little info on Lee Scott: he's a UK rapper and producer, head of record label Blah Records, been at it for decades. i think you'd enjoy Nice Swan (2016) a lot, for example. Blah is just an incredible pool of talent to dive into. crazy to see him produce for YOD too, never knew these worlds collided, makes all the sense in the world though.

Mark Ronson’s stepdad from age 6 was in Foreigner the band. So there is a weird Dj/producer connection. Fun review thanks Skye

It wasn't even close was some of his best work for sure. Chasing Ghost featuring Roc Marci is just goofy. Plus it has RST which features Mach-hommy & MF-DOOM and Funeral March wit Mach-hommy and Bubble Hill. Just classic...

coming back to this video and i see you mention Lee Scott, he's part of the underground UK rap scene, maybe take a peek at it! Some artists like Sonnyjim, Black Josh and Lee Scott are very interesting, especially recommend Sonny and his White Girl Wasted album (with DOOM, MADLIB, Jay Elec, Dj Premier and more as features)

As a hip hop fan in his early 40s, I have always avoided Your Old Droog because his voice sounds exactly like Nas. After watching this review, maybe I'll give him another chance. Thanks!

Don't listen to these cats saying to dip into YOD's discography somewhere in the middle or whatever. Start at the beginning... Your Old Droog EP. Go from there & appreciate his presence & knowledge of self, as well as the evolution from that point. I've been listening to this art form for 30+ years & no one impresses me more.

It wasn’t Even Close, and more recently, Space Bar would be great entry points. All YOD albums are great in their own regard. Dump YOD was probably my favorite, and more direct to his roots, which would interest you.

IMO his best projects in order are: 1) TIME 2) Jewelry 3) Space Bar 4) DUMP YOD: Krutoy Edition 5) Packs 6) Transportation
I would listen starting with the best. Honestly, the album you reviews is one of his least interesting

AVAA. Fun fact, Your Old Droog is an acronym of Yod, which is a letter/number in hebrew with significant meaning. Two Yods together designate the name Adonai (God).

YOD isn't fond of having his lyrics shared online. I'd post my favourite "whut?", but he might get one of his dogs to flip me like a latke. Oh, whoops...

“These other rappers trash, that’s why they litter” is saying that they’re trash and the play on words is “litter” here is being used to say it’s more “lit” like popular. While also saying it’s like littering on the ground 😂
