The overfixation on Stryker in these movies is really bizarre considering that he's never been involved with Wolverine's origin and Weapon X in the comics. It was a fun change for X-Men 2 but after that it just felt overinsistent and none of the subsequent actors that played Stryker were nearly as memorable as Brian Cox.
He's Stryker in name only. That goes for like, most of the movie versions of these characters outside sharing some very broad surface level traits with their comic counterparts. I'm pretty sure the movies never actually brought up his twisted religious beliefs even once outside some passing mentions in X2 when he's literally a commentary on far right televangelism and if anything was known for not openly practicing his terrorism in public because he never let it be known he was running the Purifiers, and his words as a preacher were disruptive enough as was. It's another reason why i just don't get the hype for X2 because it basically removes all the timely commentary from a story like God Loves, Man Kills that could've made a really good story, especially if the X-Men had to actually debate the ethics of mutants on TV instead of just beating him up like they did
I mean to be fair how exactly could they not include him in the wolverine origin movie when it’s been established he’s involved in that in x men 2? arguably this is his appearance in an x movie post x2 that makes the most sense
@@chrisf5828His real name is Truett Hudson which was established in Wolverine: Origins when they first revealed Romulus as the guy who was ordering the Professor throughout Weapon X
This movie is a mix between 2 Wolverine comics. “Wolverine Origins” (the opening scene) & “Weapon X”. And I think, while not at all perfect, they blend them together well. Heck, Sabretooth has such an amazing origin in this. Also, a lot of people forgot just how evil Deadpool was before he went through his redemption arc to become the antihero we know now. Before Cable, Domino, Wolverine, & Spider-Man inspired him to be a better person, he was arguably one of the more evil Marvel supervillains, with literally MILLIONS of men, women, & children’s deaths he’s responsible for (he was a herald for Galactus for a bit as well). And honestly, Ryan plays evil Deadpool pretty well
It seems like everyone forgot that and chose to hate this movie for no reason instead. This isn't that bad of a movie and there was clearly a plan to make this version of Deadpool into the version we know or at least a similar version down the road, but people sadly overreacted and complained instead of being patient like they should have.
@@passionsquietrage There wasn't clearly a plan, they gave Deadpool a bunch of mutant's powers and took away his mouth. He also died at the end. If Ryan Reynolds didn't love the character, we probably still wouldn't have seen Deadpool again after this.
@@GreenOnTheScene0 I guess you forgot about the post credit scene where his mouth was shown restored and he was alive/regenerating. That scene indicated that there was indeed a plan to do more with the character. The powers could have been psychically blocked by Charles Xavier, which could have created the multiple personalities and inner voices Deadpool has(which Ryan completely left out for some reason).
@@johnnykame If it's deleted, why is it a post credit scene? That mskes no sense. And the fact that it exists at all is more than enough to indicate that there was a plan.
I mean, as a long time X-Men and Wolverine comics fan, the shit it gets it does deserve but I will agree that a lot of it is over the top. Couple of my buddies call me crazy but I rank this film over X3. It's easily the worse Wolverine film but it's not the worse film ever made as some try and make it out to be.
@@antoniochasten3192see I like X3 but Kelsey as beast was awsome for it's time And yeah was kinda rushed story wise also were the hell is night crawler and killing off cyclops was cheap
@@WickedXombieDigiKing I didn't say I didn't like X3. I do just as not as much as Origins Wolverine and certainly nowhere near as much as I love the first two X films. For me, IMO, X3 is the worst out of the original X trilogy just like Origins Wolverine is the worst out of the Wolverine trilogy. Logan, Days of Future Past and First Class are my favorite X films. I know none of the X film adaptations are nothing like their comic stories but the three I just named are my favorites in the franchise.
Had to go back to watch this in chronological order. It’s so much fun watching this dream team and I love seeing thing through Tara’s eyes. It’s a whole new experience for me…..❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wolverine debuted 50 years ago (Hulk, then X-Men) and his first-ever solo series began in the 1980s. Throughout the comics' history, he's been a Marvel Legend in every form or fashion. "The best there is at what he does which is not very nice". 15 years ago, the start of his trilogy would definitely further things in the comic-book movie craze and the X-Men universe on film. Fox was developing solo films for Magneto & Mystique, but decided to stay on Wolvie's path in the universe. Using core elements including from the mini-series,Wolverine:The Origin (2001-2002). Casting of other characters and fan-favorites were actually good. The storytelling is fair and the action is stupendous. Hugh Jackman playing out Logan's struggle with being a man, the animal or the living weapon is really good. This one is both loved and hated for it's direction, certain moments and not just by fans, it's filmmakers as well. Yet of course, it was still a box office smash. The tie-in video game from Activision, original and uncaged version is amazing. There was 2 endings:"Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson (Weapon XI/D.P.) with his severed head and shushing..." and the other, rarely seen ending is 'Logan in Japan'.. Both moments were retconned in 2 future films.
The Origin variant of Deadpool is controversial that it's no wonder why the REAL Deadpool took him out of the canon (and the Green Lantern script). For a mutate who lacked a mouth, nobody called him "A Merc with a Mouth" for nothing.
I never saw weapon 11 as Deadpool, but as him being mutated as something else. He was no longer Deadpool. Kind of like how in Batman v Superman when Lex mutated Zod's body and turned him into Doomsday.
His mouth was shown restored in a post credit scene, indicating that there was a plan to make him into the version we know or at least a similar version. Sadly, no one was patient enough to let that plan be realized.
Victor Creed has the same healing factor as James. He is immensely stronger and can see in the dark as well. The movie portrays Logan having a massive advantage on Victor once he gets the Adamantium, but in actuality Victor has mercilessly beaten Logan with his Adamantium many many times. Victor always finds Logan on his birthday for the express purpose of fighting him and usually is the victor with the fight being one of the most brutal engagements you can see in Marvel comics.
It’s not in my nature to say negative things about someone, but it is starting to get kind of grating. My breaking point was probably this reaction when he says “Skip Woods… also wrote Swordfish which Hugh Jackman starred in.” Tara: K… Not exactly an interesting fact worth even bringing up. Kind of wish he’d reign it in.
@@PaulSF Yeah Andrew has really been leaning into being the trivia guy, to the point that's his main 'personality' in reactions. Not such a great look.
@@PaulSFsame I don’t want to be negative but sometime it’s just over the top non stop trivia at least wait until the reaction is over and I get they have to give commentary but make it relevant. I notice sometimes when he does it like you said the replies from like Tara are short because they are actually trying to focus on the movie.
I like it most of the time but in this one he seemed to be talking over Tara and even assuming what she thought about things sometimes. But her having an off day may have contributed.
If so many decisions made in this movie were changed around this movie genuinely could’ve been one of the best X-Men related films. I will still contend that Liev Schreiber and Hugh are the best part of this movie along with their characters relationship. It’s one of the reasons why (spoilers) Liev not showing up in Deadpool and Wolverine as his Sabertooth was unfortunate because I did want to see them rekindle where they left off. Have a fight and then see where it went after.
I guess there’s always a small chance he’d return in a future movie. I’m glad his sabertooth wasn’t in Deadpool and Wolverine since he was killed pretty immediately lmao
45:08 She's an omega level mutant, one of the strongest telepathic mutants next to Jean Grey, Cable, Charles Xavier, Shadow King, Cassandra Nova, Quintavius Quire.
If you remember in Deadpool. He asked to please not make the super hero suit green. Or animated. Referring to Ryan’s previous roles as green lantern, and weapon 11 in Wolverine.
@@passionsquietrage Not a chance lol. Ryan Reynolds would've have told us if that was the case. He hates this movie just as much as everyone else. Nobody was "triggered" it was just a terrible movie
@@aaronmckinney2583 Except it isn't terrible at all. It's decent as best. But like I said, people overreacted including Ryan himself. We should have let that plan be enacted THEN make the Deadpool movies if necessary.
@@passionsquietrage It is a terrible movie. I'm glad you enjoyed it but it's universally hated for a lot more than just the deadpool stuff. The cgi is god awful. The pacing is all over the place. They messed up their own continuity from the previous movies. I could keep going but you get the point. We never would've gotten the comic accurate deadpool we have now if this movie was a success
I've LOVED seeing Tara react to so many things on this channel!! Her responses are genuine, and she has some fresh takes on things that fans have already set a narrative on. I've been introducing my partner to a lot of superhero and horror movies, and it's been great to get their genuine take on things with them as well!!
I used to love this movie as a kid and I never knew anything about deadpool until later on in life, and I did not know that that was deadpool until rewatching it when I was older. As soon as I found out that that was deadpool, i was SO upset.
I’ve always liked this movie. I think people are just super critical. Of course a lot of things could have been different and needed to be but it’s enjoyable. I really like this one!
The Juice is Loose! Absolutely loving these X-Men reactions with Tara and Andrew. With Andrew's encyclopedic knowledge and Tara coming in blind, they make a great pair! Love the channel!
In the first x men film, it’s implied through sabertooth’s actions that he and Logan have history that Logan is oblivious to. Rewatch x men and notice that Wolverine’s dog tags mean nothing to magneto, but saber tooth seems somewhat obsessed with them and grabs them after magnus walks away. Notice his emotions as he does this.
The guy that plays Ryan Reynolds’s stint in this movie is the legendary Scott Adkin. He played the big dude in a suit in John wick and maybe known best for boyka in UNDISPUTED. I still like this movie regardless of all the bad but it is still a fun watch
22:57 You got to remember he doesn't have any adamantium yet to protect his bones and organs so after that fight he would have had multiple fractures, internal bleeding, probably a puncutred lung and a brain bleed. The more he's injured the longer he takes to heal. In the first X-Men movie he was unconscious for awhile after fighting Sabertooth and that was with adamantium.
I’ll defend this movie to the death I don’t care, I really liked it. I’ve always said if Deadpool wasn’t like this in it , the hate train against it wouldn’t have been so strong lmao. That opening alone is so cool
People WAY overreacted to this version of Deadpool, even though there was a clear plan to make him into the version we know or at least a similar version.
One of the other major problems with this movie is the CGI. The special effects are atrocious. When the CGI in the previous movies look better than in this movie you know something is wrong.
That one scene with Wolverine and SilverFox with him spewing his heart and being callus - goes so hard when you remember in the future Jean Grey betrays him in a very different way.
In reference to the terrible CGI claws, I'd heard in the first X-Men film someone suggested Jackman wear actual metal claws. He actually cut Rebecca Romijn really badly during their fight scene so it's no wonder they started using the crappy CGI'd ones for all subsequent films.
They didn't knock him out to put the adamantium in because that shit doesn't work, and they said that, but she was talking over it and said because he won't heal LMAO
JUST IN TIME!!!!!! The Reel Rejects reacted to summer blockbusters of 2009 from 20th Century Fox; Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, and now this!
Corridor Crew just released a video showing that most bad CGI nowadays is a time problem, not a skill problem. the guy in charge of VFX on The Flash said if it looked like the effects were one in a week it was because they were. it looks like they were given a couple of hours to do those claw shots.
Spent like 2 hours finding stuff to unsubscribe from (including turning notifications off for here haha) and muting allllllll kinds of things on social media.
This movie is not bad at all. Wolverine and Sabretooth dynamic, opening montage, the helicopter action scene, Ryan’s start as Wade, Wolverine coming out of the water, and more great stuff here. I get so tired of hearing people complain about the Deadpool thing. He’s not Deadpool in this. He’s weapon XI. It’s his origin story, that’s the whole point. A sequel would have had a more accurate Deadpool as hinted at in the post credit scene.
Some things in here are great, but come on man let's not pretend that saves the movie as a whole. It's a bad movie with some good bits in it. You can't just say "a non-existent movie as a sequel to this would've made this Deadpool better," as a counterargument to this movie completely missing the mark on him. You think it's better because of a hypothetical. That's so silly.
Thank you! I've been saying this for years and people continue to hate and complain. They clearly had a plan as indicated by that post credit scene but people chose to complain instead simply being patient.
@@duck-ew5zsIt's not silly because it's true. There was clearly a plan to make this version of Deadpool into the version we know or at least a similar version but people chose be hateful and prejudiced instead of being patient enough to let that plan be realized.
Talking about the First X-Men Movie not acknowledging Wolverine and Sabretooth connection, The Last Stand never did anything with Charles and Juggernaut being step Brothers..
Honestly, the fact that y'all have been able to avoid Deadpool & Wolverine spoilers is admirable. Especially doing these X-Men movie reactions and probably having to be on the internet and social media a lot (not just for these movies, but as reactors in general). It's nearly impossible to avoid spoilers this far into a big and beloved comic book movie's release, so I salute y'all🫡.
There's a lot of cool ideas in this film. You can see the whiteboard in the writers' room with tons of note cards written and taped up on there with things like "gambit saves wolverine" and "fight on top of nuclear tower" and "cyclops in school" but you can also see they have zero idea how to connect them, which results in the characters behaving inexplicably at times.
This is hands down the best x man film in my opinion just because of the raw energy it had. Felt so different compared to the other films..ESPECIALLY when it came out. Plus the game was sick 😮
The tavern scene reminded me it's almost impossible for Wolverine to get drunk. Didn't stop him from trying in one of the comics, though. He mixed several intoxicants and halunicogens together and succeeded. While drunk for the first time, he accidentally popped his claws through the open palms of his hands! It was so bizarre. 😂
I miss that car so much. My father and I had a 65 El Camino. Grew up in that car. Was all set to buy it from the current owner when I had a heart attack and dropped dead at work. After I was released the guy said he waited but beings I didn’t show he scrapped it. Gone forever unfortunately

I LOVE first class, DOFP and The wolverine. Lost me at Apocalypse (didnt like the plot) and Dark Phoenix (unnecessarily dark). however i love the score in dark phoenix so it always gives me a reason to rewatch. New Mutants was indeed terrible i cant find not one single good thing about it
Just to remind y’all that’s TROYE SIVAN as baby Wolverine !!!!!!
Who?
It's another reason why i just don't get the hype for X2 because it basically removes all the timely commentary from a story like God Loves, Man Kills that could've made a really good story, especially if the X-Men had to actually debate the ethics of mutants on TV instead of just beating him up like they did
Was the comic character in charge of weapon x program ever identified as anything but The Professor?
I mean to be fair how exactly could they not include him in the wolverine origin movie when it’s been established he’s involved in that in x men 2? arguably this is his appearance in an x movie post x2 that makes the most sense
@@chrisf5828His real name is Truett Hudson which was established in Wolverine: Origins when they first revealed Romulus as the guy who was ordering the Professor throughout Weapon X
K
Tara looking in the camera saying you’re real conundrum Andrew had me feeling some type of way 😂😂
This movie is a mix between 2 Wolverine comics.
@@passionsquietragethat was a deleted scene.
So it still stands that there was no official plans for a proper Deadpool at the time.
@@johnnykame If it's deleted, why is it a post credit scene? That mskes no sense. And the fact that it exists at all is more than enough to indicate that there was a plan.
I felt like Andrew was crapping on this movie so much because he felt like he was expected to. This movie gets way more hate than it deserves.
It was actually like like warm tbh I personally enjoy a majority of the movie besides the end
Him shitting on cgi like it wasn't early 2000th lmao a little stupid
Say something nice about X-Men Origins: Wolverine................... aaaand GO!!
It’s over
Love sabertooth
Hugh Jackman is very good in it at least. I actually don’t mind this one. The next Wolverine movie, however…
We wouldn't have gotten the deadpool movies
Love Hugh Jackman 💛
I really wish they would’ve kept Taylor Kitt as Gambit. He was really great for the role!
When Deadpool shot Ryan Reynolds, this would mean that Blake Lively will be marrying and having kids with whoever replaces him as Green Lantern.
@@daurydavis3983 They call him Deadpool when he is changed. Even Ryan confirms he was meant to be Deadpool.
@@ManChild1980 ah okay
Victor Creed has the same healing factor as James. He is immensely stronger and can see in the dark as well. The movie portrays Logan having a massive advantage on Victor once he gets the Adamantium, but in actuality Victor has mercilessly beaten Logan with his Adamantium many many times. Victor always finds Logan on his birthday for the express purpose of fighting him and usually is the victor with the fight being one of the most brutal engagements you can see in Marvel comics.
Andrew started crappinf on this from the start and didn't give Tara a chance to enjoy or react
I really wish he would stop info dumping in the middle of action scenes. Bro just immerse. Or at least let Tarah immerse.
It’s not in my nature to say negative things about someone, but it is starting to get kind of grating. My breaking point was probably this reaction when he says “Skip Woods… also wrote Swordfish which Hugh Jackman starred in.” Tara: K…
Not exactly an interesting fact worth even bringing up.
I did love this movie when it came out, seeing Logan as a kid with bone claws was great. Best scene ever, him coming out of the water tank 💯💯
@@jaysax7381 as sad as it is to say there’s absolutely no chance he ever shows up again in a film
Nah, it would have been a waste of Liev to simply be beheaded in D&W.
Referring to Ryan’s previous roles as green lantern, and weapon 11 in Wolverine.
y'all came for this 43:58
Im glad I watched this movie before the internet could tell me how bad it is, i really enjoyed it 😅
The change from from Deadpool in this and in Deadpool is drastic
This Deadpool would have become that Deadpool if people hadn't been so triggered by his origin being different.
That post credit scene where his mouth was shown restored is a clear indication that there was in fact a plan to bring the character back as the version we know or at least a similar version.
@@aaronmckinney2583 So it had a lot of issues. What movie doesn't? That doesn't make it "terrible".
I've LOVED seeing Tara react to so many things on this channel!! Her responses are genuine, and she has some fresh takes on things that fans have already set a narrative on.
I've been introducing my partner to a lot of superhero and horror movies, and it's been great to get their genuine take on things with them as well!!
That comic that John mentions with Wolverine sounds awesome!
When you get to “Days of Future Past” you absolutely need to watch the “Rogue Cut”!!!!!!
You know they won't. Then everyone will complain and they'll apologise.
X-Men 2 was my favorite growing up, but then this movie came out & I fell in love with Logan & Kayla’s story, also Logan & Victors story !
I used to love this movie as a kid and I never knew anything about deadpool until later on in life, and I did not know that that was deadpool until rewatching it when I was older. As soon as I found out that that was deadpool, i was SO upset.
Without this movie we wouldnt have deadpool and wolverine, so because of that i love this movie and i love that gambit is finally in one
37:11 never realized until now, he kept his promise In another wolverine variant. 😂IYKYK
The Wolverine (2013) has an R rated extended cut! Watch that
I’ve always liked this movie.
I’ve said this since 2009. This movie is fantastic and really solid, up until the moment he gets his adamantium.
The guy that plays Ryan Reynolds’s stint in this movie is the legendary Scott Adkin. He played the big dude in a suit in John wick and maybe known best for boyka in UNDISPUTED. I still like this movie regardless of all the bad but it is still a fun watch
"What's his nuts is in this?" 🤣😂
22:57 You got to remember he doesn't have any adamantium yet to protect his bones and organs so after that fight he would have had multiple fractures, internal bleeding, probably a puncutred lung and a brain bleed. The more he's injured the longer he takes to heal. In the first X-Men movie he was unconscious for awhile after fighting Sabertooth and that was with adamantium.
I gotta say, I actually like this movie.. despite everything..😂
Say what you want but I think this version of Gambit is great. Taylor Kitcsh was great as this interpretation.
The first movie where the “high ground” doesn’t win “headshot”
Kinda wish the editor just used the deadpool 2 after credits for that reveal scene 🤣🤣
There are plenty of other things to be mad about in this movie
They butchered every single character outside of Wolverine and Sabrtooth
THANK YOU! I’ll defend this movie all day just like you man.
One of the other major problems with this movie is the CGI. The special effects are atrocious. When the CGI in the previous movies look better than in this movie you know something is wrong.
I honestly don't think the CGI looked that bad. That's just my opinion 😅
I never even thought of the whole sabertooth vampire theory. Good catch
4:50 i love that transition man
The sister is Emma Frost. They feature her character more in the next movie.
"we have Deadpool & Wolverine at home"
My fav 2 REEL REJECTS!!! I catch myself singing Tara's "Ring The Bell" throughout the day lol.
They didn't knock him out to put the adamantium in because that shit doesn't work, and they said that, but she was talking over it and said because he won't heal LMAO
This is like watching my awkward parents watch movies 😂
Saw this opening night. That was the only time ever where every single seat in my theater was sold.
JUST IN TIME!!!!!! The Reel Rejects reacted to summer blockbusters of 2009 from 20th Century Fox; Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, and now this!
44:39 That's Martial Arts actor and stuntman Scott Adkins.
Corridor Crew just released a video showing that most bad CGI nowadays is a time problem, not a skill problem. the guy in charge of VFX on The Flash said if it looked like the effects were one in a week it was because they were. it looks like they were given a couple of hours to do those claw shots.
keep these two off the internet. how they havn't seen any spoilers for DP&W is amazing
Thats magical fr...
They must not watch their own channel
Totally agree!
no its bad lol bad effects bad writing, bad costume design and bad deadpool He was Deadpool and it wasn't his origin it was a botched origin.
Wolverine coming out of the water chamber is iconic...
Talking about the First X-Men Movie not acknowledging Wolverine and Sabretooth connection, The Last Stand never did anything with Charles and Juggernaut being step Brothers..
Wolverine: “I cover wars, you know”
Saw deadpool and wolverine in cinema other day xxxx
This is one of my favorite X-Men movies up to the end. They did drop the ball at the end, but I can overlook that.
Ok Andrew, since you had already watched this. You should let Tara form her opinions on things before being so negative..
It’s not just about him surviving, it’s telling the story of who Logan was before becoming Wolverine & losing his memories.
Thats why Sabertooth took wolverine dog tags in the first movie because he wanted a piece of his brother who doesn't remember him
37:08 well he technically kept his word…all these years later😂
Thats a good call that the freeze frames in the open look like comic shots
There's a lot of cool ideas in this film. You can see the whiteboard in the writers' room with tons of note cards written and taped up on there with things like "gambit saves wolverine" and "fight on top of nuclear tower" and "cyclops in school" but you can also see they have zero idea how to connect them, which results in the characters behaving inexplicably at times.
It’s hilarious that you guys decided not to have the post credits scene with Deadpool’s head and the “shh” moment. 😂
Man I have no issues or complaints with this movie i loved it all!!🔥💪😂
This is hands down the best x man film in my opinion just because of the raw energy it had. Felt so different compared to the other films..ESPECIALLY when it came out. Plus the game was sick 😮
43:59 That’s how you piss off a fansbase.
I understand what Tara is saying but some people may start from the origins so for those viewers it makes sense I enjoyed the back story n all
Stryker: im putting together a special team
Nick fury: I beg your pardon mother Fu---
Guess Tara doesn't understand what an origin movie is
The tavern scene reminded me it's almost impossible for Wolverine to get drunk. Didn't stop him from trying in one of the comics, though.
He mixed several intoxicants and halunicogens together and succeeded. While drunk for the first time, he accidentally popped his claws through the open palms of his hands! It was so bizarre. 😂
Love Ryan Reynolds making fun/copying that scene of cutting and deflecting bullets in this movie with what he did in Deadpool 2 against Cable. So fun
I miss that car so much. My father and I had a 65 El Camino. Grew up in that car. Was all set to buy it from the current owner when I had a heart attack and dropped dead at work. After I was released the guy said he waited but beings I didn’t show he scrapped it. Gone forever unfortunately
Im absolutely LOVING these videos, can’t wait for the other X-men/wolverine movies🔥🔥
