Anders Osborne - Mind of a Junkie
I heard this for the first time in rehab and listened to it everyday for about a year after. I'm happy to say 8 years 9 mos 26 days ago. Not sure why I needed to hear this today but I did.
Editing to add that after 9 years I had a 6 day relapse. This disease is insidious and never ever goes away. It doesn't rest and wants us dead. I am truly powerless. God help anyone fighting this evil.
Glad you saw the other side of the lapse my man. I've been too scared to pick up dope again but definitely had my lapses with many-a-non-opiate and it's all just different heads of the same hydra. Wishing you a long, happy life absent these chemicals we're all damned to long for.
Heck yes!!! Stay strong!
Anders is such an amazing singer, songwriter, musician and, most importantly, person!
Fuck. That hit hard... still have goose bumps. Please god help all of us with the junkie mind.
Some of the most honest lyrics ever written. Amazingly great song.

Word. Self-removed from the needle for three years and these lyrics ring as true as the days I was homeless and looking for a fix.
@@LateNightRewrites im proud of u even tho i dont know....u def got my respect
so true. I heard this in rehab for the 1st time it made me realize I wasn't alone
This song explains what im going through in life right now. I am living every word. This is a very powerful song. This is how everyone in addiction feels about there self early in recovery. Well played Anders.
Keepe it with heart my warrior we got this my warrior you got this
Yo hope you made it through bro, addiction is of the toughest things to ever get through
Same, all my love and good luck ❤
@@gudge3214 I made it through brother. Just celebrated 5 years.
It will become easier
Real solid. The soundtrack for me, a man on the mend.
keep up the good work man, the mend aint easy but youre not alone
This guy knows.. Great song!
I like this acoustic version way better than the studio recorded/cd version. Jam in the Van music just sounds so honest and true.
Sammy Seventy 3 That's a good quote, thanks.

Opioids are the worst thing to happen to opiates.
@@crypticraps lol true but not like opiates were good before the opioids came along
@@westerncanadian4249
lol 😂 I guess you're right. But it's much easier to kick heroin than that synthetic withdrawal.
im with u 100 %
Wow... Just wow... He gets it AND he can play
Leaves me speechless ....fearless , rings too true

Imagine being the guys in the van, and Anders and Billy walk in, sit down and proceed to do what they just did here, a couple feet away from you. Nothing is more appropriate than Anders saying what he did at the end: “are you okay over there sir?”
All i can say is God works in Mysterious ways. This mans music has brought me back around.Relapse is real.Really just what this Junkie needed and Hey..........Pray.Sit.Listen.Listen.Listen.FUCK I NEED TO LISTEN!!!!!
Wow! Thank you mr. Osborne! For a first, your voice man.. djeesus.. For a second, do you posses the power of a mindreader? Every word hit, thank you bro!

nicely done Anders
beautiful guy ! very very good! Actually I practice, i learn my english with your lyrics !
I'm nervous, I'm sweaty, I hate to make amends
Bunch of opinions but I'm always on the fence
Pissed off and sad at the same time
Please somebody save me from my crazy mind
I try to read the big book but I can't see the words
And every time I meditate the whole thing's a blur
Panic attacks short of breath
I try to get things done when my body needs to rest
I've been living in the mind of a junkie
Thinking my junkie thoughts
Putting out my selfish aspirations
Oh, not letting God into my heart
I don't pick up the phone and I can't sleep
I ain't got no appetite but I still overeat
Want peace and quiet but I keep running my mouth
My soul is like a hurricane but I'm still filled with self-doubts
I hate the way I look and my ego's always bruised
I isolate myself, I get some more tattoos
I'm always running late so I can't make any plans
I'm preaching 'bout things that I don't understand
I've been living in the mind of a junkie
Thinking my junkie thoughts
Putting out my selfish aspirations
Mmm, not letting God into my heart
Not letting God into my heart
perfect description of that road. keep it up anders
Yummmmm.
Wow! I can relate to every word great song .
Genius love the music
Very special and very cool performance and delivery of a great song, let's not forget the other guy playin with Anders, he is also adding a lot to this brilliant performance , thanks guys I thought this was really great. Best wishes from Northern Ireland, 💕☘
Billy iuso , yea Billy he's cool as well .
Real and fucking amazing
Holy cow that's good!!!
So passionate !!
Powerful stuff. There is a comment below about everyone feeling like this in early recovery. 37 years later I can dumpster dive inside my head and still be right there. The only promise is freedom from active addiction, there is no cure. I heard this as background music and it reached out and pulled me right in. I enjoyed the recorded version, but the Jam in the Van version, I found it spiritual. I hope that doesn't sound corny...oh hell, I don't care, Thanks so much.
minds contain the most powerful weapon we will ever posses
So amazingly beautiful!

Just spent the better part of last week with Anders at Steve Earle's Camp Copperhead and I can say without hesitation that Anders is the real fucking deal. One of the kindest, realest, most joyful human beings I've ever met. Everybody - man, woman, child, badger - left camp with a massive Anders crush. He is the absolute best. And this song. Jesus.
Fabulous,,,
