    Anders Osborne invited PG’s John Bohlinger to soundcheck at his tour’s first stop at Nashville’s City Winery in early February and shows off his louder-than-a-jumbo-jet amps, bastardized, funky guitars and a handful of stomps that power his travelling mojo.
    “Blackie” is pieced together from a 1968 Fender body with an unknown neck-Osborne’s tech thinks it’s from MIJ Fender-that has an ebony board with jumbo frets. The neck and bridge pickups are original ’68s, but the center pickup is a Seymour Duncan 'Lil Screamin Demon. Blackie is generally set to open-D tuning and is strung with custom D'Addario set: .013, .018, .024 (wound), .034, .044, .054.
    “Greenie” is a 1985 Fender ’62 Stratocaster Reissue loaded with a RS Guitarworks vintage wiring harness (pots & switch jack) and was upgraded with a Seymour Duncan Five-Two pickup in the neck position. Greenie is tuned standard with a custom D'Addario set: .011, .016, .022 (wound), .032, .042, .052.
    “Cherry” is a 1972 Gibson ES-335 with a Bigsby roller bridge, is tuned to standard, and outfitted with D'Addario EXL-115 .011-.049 strings.

    AMP CORRECTION & BACK STORY - The Marshall amp was Modded by Voodoo Amps, not Voodoo Labs. It started out life as a Reissue JCM800 2203x. Anders had played an outdoor show at the long running annual ‘Grassroots Festival’ in Trummansburg NY a few years ago. Backline amps were needed for the gig & a Marshall we Modified for producer Alex Perialas (amp also used on 1st Joe Bonamassa record). This was an early version of our ‘Hex’ circuit that was voiced specially for Alex with a unique hand-wound prototype ‘plexi’ spec Output Transformer made by Simcha Delft in New Zealand circa 1999. Simcha was one of the designers in the transformer company Obsolete Electronics (more commonly known as ‘OEI’) along company founder Joe Pampel.
    A few months after the show, Anders contacted us & asking if we could make a duplicate amp for him. As OEI was no longer making transformers specs were drawn up & sent to Mercury Magnetics. Voodoo Amps President / Founder Trace Davis installed the new transformer set as well as the same Circuitry Modifications & also added some additional Customization to better match Anders playing style. The amp was shipped to Anders on 10-23-2014 & as is talked about in Premier Guitar’s Rig Rundown video at 22:08.
    Many thanks to Anders, his tech & John Bohlinger! - Voodoo Amps (www.voodooamps.com)

    Nice, my company is Rocky Mountain Slides Company in Poncha Springs CO, and the slide that Anders is using is the Tomichi in Mojo Green. We worked together to create this model, but at the time he was hooked on the the wine bottle slides...glad to see he can include mine in the mix...very cool!!! for more info you can go to my website www.rockymountainslides.com

    This is the first time I've heard of Anders Osborne. I must have been under a big rock. One of the things I like about Rig Rundown is I get introduced to some really great talent like Anders. Umphrey's McGee was another great find for me. Thanks RR!

    Odds are it's a Charvel neck on the black strat with an aftermarket Fender headstock decal on it. Birdseye, ebony, 22 jumbo frets, straight cut fingerboard overhang, narrow 12th fret dot spacing, skunk stripe on the back and walnut plug at the headstock in the mid 1980s all spells Charvel.

    • @frontbum420
      @frontbum420 8 років тому

      +XSSIVE I am thinking that a 80's charvel neck would be micro thin compared to a fender neck .so much so,it would be obvious.
      plus They would have though of that ,no?

    • @TonyBlackNYC
      @TonyBlackNYC 2 роки тому

      I know I'm late to this but there were certainly guys making fake Fenders as early as 1980...I vote that it's a Kubicki neck. Guys were trading/selling Fender decals wayyyyy back.

      +Tyler Hier They stopped using the "Gibson" embossed pickups in May of '72. If the guitar was manufactured in the early part of the year then you're correct. If it was manufactured in the later part of the year then it won't have the logo on the pickups.
