Yes, I love this kind of interview, I'm currently going through the same thing. I have hashimotos and would love to try just T3 only. I've been on levothyroxine, synthroid, armour, tirasent. Felt miserable on all of them.
T3 has changed my life so much! I went through an awful time with my thyroid disease, especially after having RAI. Doctors are clueless regarding thyroid disease.
This interview changed my life, I went to my Doctor and asked for Cytomel a month ago, my T3 was in range but was on the low end of the range and kept dropping from last year. My doctor prescribed a 5 microgram dose and it changed my life! I feel like a different person. My hair stopped falling out and my eyelashes grew back as well as my energy and mood improved significantly. Thank you for this interview.
Wish we had more doctors like Dr Child’s. Love your comments and information. Please keep up your good works for us out here to read and learn and enjoy. Thank you. Marguerite
Same with me. Dr: "You have Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism. Take levothyroxine for the rest of your life. See you in 6 months" . Me: Wait! How did I get it! What can I expect"? Dr: "Next patient, please"
You guys are wonderful together. Been on Synthroid over 60 years and my Doc just put me on Cytomel and I take a half of 5 MCG daily and it makes me feel normal again. Wish there were more Doctors like you.
My new dr said I didn’t have Hashimotos any more, so she stopped my T3’s. I spiraled into a deep depression for no reason. I was suicidal. I had ALL of the ‘usual’ hypothyroidism symptoms! It came to me at 3am that I NEEDED my T3’s!!!!! I called into the office and told them I was suicidal for no reason and I NEED to be back on my t3’s. It gave me my life back again!
If you don't have hashimoto's anymore, then that should mean you're in remission and don't need medication anymore at all....but, are you saying they stopped t3 but not t4?.....if you still wanted to take a low dose of t3 for a while, I don't see how that could be a problem...
I am so happy you had Paul on your show! Just my humble 2 cents....as a woman with hypothyroidism in my 40s, none of my symptoms improved until I got my ferritin to 70. Iron is overlooked by many doctors. Also: the poor care thyroid patients get is by design. It's criminal.
@@Kker448 I take ferrous fermarate iron with no stomach upset. I also have my docotor test my ferritin levels at least every 90 days. I take it with a small glass of orange juice for the vitiman C to help absorption. I found that absorbic acid vitiman C poorly affected my thyroid function. I went from a ferritin level of 10 to 70 in about 2 months. I don't take a lot. Only 29 miligrams a day.
Exactly! My doctor kept dropping my T4 dose, which was only barely sustaining me, because my TSH was "too low,," and I got practically nonfunctional. That's when you start doing your best to figure things out for yourself and obtain other meds through non-conventional sources, literally in order to survive.
where i am at right now trying to advocate and fignt for myself despite exhaustion. low t4 low t3 , low everything, levoxyrhine caused worsening symptoms and weight gain , depression, not myself
I’ve learned a lot from Paul Robinson. I have read all three of his books. I’m fortunate that my doctor has as well. I’m glad that Dr. Westin is progressive and brings forth help for thyroid patients.
Where are you located Shelley? I am in New York City, have been on Levothyroxine for 11 years now, .88 mcg, have gained 50 lbs, feel exhausted, terrible, just assumed that was my only option. It's only in the last few months I have been educating myself and heard about Cytomel! I ran to my Endocrinologist in March and asked him to put me on it, and he gave me all the ridiculous reason to not go on it, re heart problems, it's only for people who have had Thyroid cancer, it's too strong, blahs blahs Blah. I need to find a great doctor here like Dr Childs or Paul Robinson! Thanks.
I live on the opposite side of the states in WA. I literally interview functional, intregrative or Naturopathic doctors before committing. I hope that helps.
@@shelleybuerer4502, Saw Dr Ken Gross at Poly in Seattle for years. He was amazing! Then he retired. Dr Hassam at Poly was.his replacement. 1st thing she did was change my meds. I politely disagreed. She said she knew better because she had been to medical school and I didn't. (WTH?) In the 2 yrs since, I've put on 50 lbs, lost much of my hair, have lizard skin, etc. In a phone appointment, she told me I needed to stop being lazy and exercise. I explained that I had been a triathlete and personal fitness instructor. And ate clean. That I was now disabled. She literally hung up on me.
@@avimae4225 That’s a disgrace to treat a patient out of ignorance. This doctor should have developed a relationship with you and have known that you once were a very good athlete. Hormones and how they transport to our cells, organs are not well studied especially in the conventional medicine world. My very intelligent PCP told me this during our first visit. I see a naturopath ND for my hormone replacement therapy. What studies that are chosen to put into the medical journals depend on a lot of factors. There’re many factual studies that are left out. Doctors that are not open to look beyond should be avoided. Nutrients, good gut health to absorb them and help transport the hormones to the cells is poorly not understood by many doctors. To find your best dose of hormones to bring your thyroid levels is not black and white. Stay away from these ignorant doctors and find a good open minded doctor. Usually they’ll be functional, intregrative or Naturopathic ND ( stay away from those who graduated from Bastyr or be very careful in selecting) I can make a recommendation if you’re interested?
@@avimae4225That’s horrible and I experienced a similar situation when I had to switch providers… When she refused to prescribe my T3 that I had been taking with my T4, I went in a search for another prescriber! No offense intended but why would you continue to suffer so much and keep going to her for so long? 🙏I wish you a return to better health and healing!❤️🩹
Now 2years after you posted .. are you still taking these And what has been your experience...? ( I saw your comment) I'm getting ready to listen to listen interview. I was just given these meds ... ( I was on NP) for a couple weeks and clearing my system to get ready to take these as I said .. Again wanting to know your experience on these.. Thank you
Love this interview! Gives hope to those that have been stuck in a holding pattern of feeling terrible because lab values are “within range”. We are being told our symptoms can’t possibly be your thyroid. To make matters worse, we are held captive by insurance companies that limit which prescribers you can see without paying 100% out of pocket. Unfortunately, I would bet most endocrinologists and GP’s would dismiss this thinking as radical.
I didn't know I was having thyroid issues until I started losing my hair and feeling unwell and in pain it made me go get my levels checked and my thyroid levels are low I feel so terrible I have no energy it sucks so bad to feel sick and tired 😩
I am a person that has experienced this for years. I had a precious doctor that went totally by my symptoms and not my normal blood labs. He prescribed a med. Looking back, I wish I would have made major changes to my diet and lifestyle because once you get on these meds, you never get off of them. I for one do not like the entrapment I feel by having to see a doctor. If you get one that you have to pay 100% out of pocket, which I have now, it costs a small fortune and then they blackmail you into buying their useless supplements plus have tons of other tests done so that they can search for other things that they want to "treat." It is all a big scam.
@@travelinggirl6681 ... correct, most of the know nothing about the andocrine system especially the Thyroid and para-rhyroids. Iv'e been struggling for 25 yrs am on 1.5 Eltroxin for thyroid.both lobes removed.my 4 para thyroids was so damaged being without blood supply they died off. Habing to take per day 2 magnesium, 2 calsium and two vit D. @@acoet3496 I am so sorry you have been dealing with it too. There are many things working together to cause thyroid issues, I have discovered. I hope that you can find some things that work for you.
I went to the best in endocrinologist in St. Louis so I was told. After a few visits over a couple of years I realized that he was doing nothing for me and that I was on my own to figure out my thyroid issues. Watching many videos from different Dr like this one has changed my life for the best! Thanks for all you do I am a new follower and I have learned so much from binge watching your videos!
The utter passion, love, and caring that Dr. Westin Childs and Author Paul Robinson have to educate the public, and explaining how absurd mainstream medicine is on such an important issue as thyroid, and getting the thyroid functioning at optimal levels. This video/info "brought me literally to tears" since I have hypothyroidism and been fighting to feel normal instead of feeling like an alien since 1990!! That mainstream doctors don't care, and push anti-depressants, refuse it, it's trash!! Dr. Childs and Robinson are "100% ANGELS of the purest form of love, they are true leaders!! Once again "Thank You SO Much" for such a great video, you are the Master!! And "please" Dr. Childs continue these type of videos!!!! Now my thoughts are rolling what would of happened to my life, if I would of had pin point knowledge back in 1990 and found a doctor like Dr. Westin Childs!!!! Much Love❤
Talk about a very very famous person yes. :-) I have heard his story on other podcasts and boy has he helped a lot of people. Thank you so much for having him on.
I was put on Levothyroxine 20 years ago because I was SO tired all the time and couldn't even summon up an idea in my head without great effort. When I finally asked that about Armour Thyroid, my doctor completely dismissed it. He told me that it was too difficult to measure the effectiveness of it. I continued to put up with it for over a decade and then demanded a T3 and T4 test. He finally put me on a very low dosage of T3. It gave me an immediate boost, but he also kept me on Levothyroxine. Now that I am 72 years old, my doctor just believes I am tired from old age and disability. I know deep down inside that is NOT true! Why won't they LISTEN????
I disagree with your doctor, Im 77 years old and went through your same experience with my HCPs, demand a full panel t3 reverse t3, thyroid antibodies etc. Most doctors , even some specialist are not up to date, they remain in a money making comfort zone, I fought for 2 yrs.straight only to be dismissed and disrespected, but kept fighting, today I’m doing much better , good luck to you , l know what it feels like. I thank God for , making a break through for me.
I had surgery in 2012 for hypothyroidism , no matter how many doctors I seen, how many times they have change my medication (Levothyroxine) now I'm having heart problems because I never got proper treatment..I recently change my doctor to a N.D and say the exact same thing ..First thing she look for was the T3 something no other doctor did for me ..I lost hope but hearing this gives me some back.. I appreciate this interview
Going through this issue for years and finally dr prescribed t3- cytomel 5 mcg. Been feeling sick for too long. After hearing this interview I have hope again
Same here! I just started taking 5 mcg cytomel in addition to my 75 mcg synthroid (lowered from 88 mcg) four days ago. Definitely feel less cold and less brain fog already! The second day I had a crazy amount of energy in the morning/afternoon then crashed hard in the evening. Haven't really had that burst of energy again after that. I know I've only been taking cytomel for 4 days, but do you have any tips Dr. Childs? And Elizabeth how long have you been taking your for now? Had an effects?
I'm in bed, no appetite.. Just nothing working...haven't even energy to go to specialist. T4 levothyroxine 2 years. End of line! I take supplements as advised. I studied this n he's right but doctor won't prescribe.
@@y.t.a180 they sell T3 online pretty cheap. The best doctors believe in treating thyroid according to symptoms far more than bloodwork results. Some feel terrible & aren’t healthy unless their levels are higher than the high normal range. Normal ranges are based on a population who 80-95% aren’t healthy anyways
This is me!!! I did my research and found out many people that need T4 and T3. I just started T3 W my T4 and in a week I was feeling so much better. I might need a higher dose but waiting to see. I was miserable for 2 years and my Endo just wrote me off.
Hi did it work out for you? are you feeling better? searching for a doctor thats willing to prescribe T3 for me im miserable hope there is a way out of this hell
Levothyroxine that I started about 6 months ago and dosed up a bit was helping a lot. Now I feel like I am slipping back into that droop that I am very familiar with. My doctor tells me we are all getting older, could be some adrenal fatigue and I will see you in a year. Like you I am advocating for myself and not just turning into a blob. I was an athletic person until just 2 years ago. I hope you continue to improve on the T3 T4 combo
@L’esprit de l’escalier I don't eat pork I will never eat pork it's disgusting... Eggs some fish Turkey a little bit of beef grass fed organic et cetera...NEVER PORK!!! OR CAMEL!!!
You are geniuses. You bring back the sens and confidence in doctors. I’m so afraid of them that when I felled in the middle of the night because of a dizziness, and back to myself bathing in my blood I waited till my family leaving far away, waked up and came to bring me at hospital. I was ready to dye home without assistance.
Love this interview, more doctors should listen and learn!!! We have been being told complete nonsense for too long. Thanks for getting this info out there!
TY for this very informative conversation. I'm sick of my doctor and he's sick of me, I can tell by the way he treats me. I have a Functional medicine doctor and I'm not impressed with his protocols. I have no where else to go at this point, or I'd be gone in a heart beat. He just put me on 75 mcg of Levo and 5 mcg of lio....lol, and it's not cutting it. He did have me on 125 mcg of just Levo, and my RT3 were high and I felt like crap. My whole life has been screwed by ignorant doctors who DON'T want to know what they are doing to their patients with their ignorance and maltreatment.
I've struggled with my thyroid problems for years. Thankfully I found a doctor who specializes in the thyroid problems. She's given me to T3 try for the days that I feel I need more than the Levothyroxine and Liothyroninum can give me. I was diagnosed at the age of 24yrs. I went to the doctors after a massive panic attack in Ikea, my heart rate was all over the place.
I had to plead with my PCP to get tested for T3 and reverse T3. Going in tomorrow for the test. I asked for a complete thyroid panel, but he only agreed to those. I know that historically, my T3 has been low, but at 80, I find I forget things like that. Didn’t remember this until I saw the video where you talked about the complete panel. Now we will see. I am exhausted constantly, but I have had COVID 6 times, and now have long COVID, so don’t know how much of the exhaustion is from long COVID. I really hope part of it is thyroid related.
I KNOW I have had thyroid problem for over 25 years....went to a doctor once and he said I JUST NEED TO GET A JOB......I was sick so how could I get a job ...I was there to see him to get fixed ,better......I knew there was something wrong with me but the doctors couldn’t work it out.... I got really sick about 10 months ago and told him I was thinking of suicide....he finally did the test and put me on levothyroxine... I do feel better but I am sure I can do better...Thanks you two there is light at the end of the tunnel
Love this interview! Two of my favorite people have n thyroid issues. I had my thyroid taken out 39 years ago and have been through it all! I also had cancer twice which I believe was a result of doctors not treating my thyroid issue. I found Paul a few years ago and have been T3 only since....what a difference! Thank you for all the information Dr. Child’s!
absolutely wonderful discussion, couldn't agree more with every point! Took many more than a decade to FINALLY get tested for antibodies, 3 endo's later got onto Tirsint which helped...some, added liothyronine but it exacerbated (not caused) heart palps (PVC) within the first hour or so after dosage. Finally found an awesome GP who tested reverse t3 and as it seems, I don't convert well. He changed tx approach - sustained release t3, with tirosint - tirosint was lowered and t3 is the primary tx. Feel better than I have in years.
You're very very lucky. I'm from Romania and they only test tsh , antibodies and that's it I tested my t3 on my own but I'm in the normal range so my doctor was very dismissive until she finally agreed to help me dose it.. but she never recommends reverse t3. I don't think they even know what that is here..
@@OzmaOfOzz I’m sorry to hear that, and hope perhaps your doctor would be willing to explore more options. Before I had my current doctorI would take Dr.Childs’ articles to my doctor and she was willing to explore done things but like your experience, she would not test rt3
I’ve been on Eltroxin (a brand of Levothyroxine in Canada) for 10 years and one symptom I always have is FATIGUE! I’ve gotten iron infusions for my iron deficiency and b12 shots for my b12 deficiency. I exercise quite a bit and I’ve also tried diabetic meds for weight loss (I’m not a diabetic), and I am ALWAYS FATIGUED!!! I’m finally working with a Naturopath who has talked about adding T3. First time in my life a doctor has talked to me about it.
How many people here have also had there gall bladders taken out?? And have a hypothyroid?? My tsh was 5.4 and my blood was taken at 4pm. The doctor told me 5.4 is not a big deal. I've just had all of the classic symptoms of hypothyroidism for decades now. Depression, no energy, constipation, rigid britle fingernails, body temp is always below 97.5, dry itchy skin, hair loss, border low b12, gallbladder problems.
You definitely need T3’s!!! I’ve been dealing with it for over 25 years. I insisted on a T3 resistance test 25 years ago, this positive result and T3 prescription was life changing!
@@karenholt8441 t3 was good but was too stimulating. I also found out that I have a genetic mutation that causes me to have really bad methylation by the mthfr enzyme. Basically my body is depleted of vitamin b9. B9 plays a huge role in depression, anxiety, brain health. Heart health. Gallbladder health.
Doctors for 25 + yrs have tried to give me anti-depressant meds that I'd throw away only after a couple wks. After watching and reading about the thyroid I asked/begged for further testing which finally turned out to be hypothyroidism. The first wk I found so much peace and energy I literally cried. In my second wk my legs which had a tough to touch patches but were not visible totally gone and was able to ditch all use of lotions. On my third wk, I found myself up and down, one day feeling great and the next miserable which I hope is just an adjustment to my new life on Levothyroxine. Dr. Westin, I'm taking your advice seriously so I made an appt. to see an Endocrinologist first then I will determine afterward if I should go on to the next type of doctor you mentioned in another video. So much of my life has been wasted and I refuse to waste any more precious time. My Doctor created a monster lol when she found my issue was hypothyroidism.
P.S. After my first couple of days I also found I was breathing deeper and not holding my breath anymore. I so hope others who are in that dark place of hypothyroidism find the help that they so deserve.
Thanks for this interview Dr Childs. I had 2 x thyroidectomies - leaving me with 1/2 a thyroid. I was on Thyroxine for about 20 years, then about 13 years on NDT (+ some sex hormones). I read Stop The Thyroid Madness a few years ago. And this year, read Elle Russ's book. I was lucky enough to find an endocrinologist, who was happy to put me on T3 only. In fact, he actively promotes T3 only! It's only been 5 weeks on 60mcg, but I haven't started to feel the difference yet. Obviously, developing Meniere's Disease has complicated things somewhat, but I am hoping this new course will help the MD as well. Thank you for what you do.
Make sure you are eating well. T3 can be a nightmare, any thyroid medication, really, when not eating well. You will not be able to absorb it properly, and, high inflammation will affect how you absorb t3.
Great! I was talking t4 for over 20 years now. I noticed that my t3 was low normal despite t4 being ok. Then I increased my t4 but my t3 even DEcreased! My insulin resistance went up, my HDL went down! Now my doctor prescribed me t3 (actually today). I’m excited to feel the difference in a few days / weeks!
Very good interview, will be super helpful for those who are starting their journey of figuring out their thyroid issues, and for everyone to get a better grasp of how all the thyroid hormones work!
Yes indeed that’s what I am trying to do, I got diagnosed in 2017, if it was up to the Endocrinologist they put you on T 4 and tell you come back when your thyroid is completely destroyed. I want to go in remission and I am bringing all this information to my internist!
@@drwestinchilds I followed your advice about taking Levothyroxine at night and sublingually. The half Tertroxin is purely experimental. Thank you for your good work.
This was such a wonderful interview, the ability to obtain all the information and self-educate is fulfilling however on the flip side we can self educate until we're blue in the face but getting a doctor to listen and help us is nearly impossible and that includes Integrative Medicine doctors as well they will even raise an eyebrow at an suppressed TSH ( 0.09 or 0.02) even when the t3 levels are still low and patient is not well!! We feel trapped because everything we have learned and taught ourselves we cannot use for help, we continue to stay in hashi prison!! Like Dr. Robinson said it destroys people's careers, lives and relationships!! I could not agree more. Thank you again for this wonderful post 👍
My life has been destroyed because of my thyroid, There is no help... I've been in a near death state for 20 years!!! I can barely get out of bed... Death would be better than this.
Thank you Dr Childs for posting this interview with Paul Robinson - as I do not have a thyroid due to graves disease & have low cortisol - I take NDT trying to optimize - very illuminating!
It almost feels like you’re talking about me, I’ve had an underactive thyroid for thirty three years, not once have I felt great. They told me that I’ve been overprescribed levothyroxine and reduced this then sent me to the specialist regarding it, who reduced it but sent me for a bone density scan, which was fine. I still feel the same but lately I can’t stay awake. I’m going to get this guys books so I can go and discuss this effectively with my GP
Thank you Paul & Dr Childs you have given me huge information as I am taking Levo following total thyroidectomy. I am feeling so crappy and this gives me hope, but I am going to find a dr who understands me and my hypo symptoms even whilst taking T4 med, I feel so much worse now than prior to my surgery…THANK YOU BOTH FOR OPENING MY EYES TO.A POSITIVE AND VERY INFORMATIVE chat
I lost around half of my thyroid in 2007 when benign lumps were removed from it. It went onto synthetic T4 straight after the op. A recent sonar shows that my thyroid has grown back, virtually 100%! I am now systematically going off the T4 medication. I'm 67. The hope is that my thyroid is actually doing OK, and I don't need any meds!! Initial results are positive. I'm on 50 micrograms Uthyrox, hoping to go down to 25 and then 0!
Yes, please bring him back! I am just beginning the journey of trying to find a doctor to help as an expat living in Portugal. I am not feeling very hopeful. Yet, referring my new doc to this video will be a help!
I take 112 mg of Armour thyroid and feel good right now. I feel best when my TSH is .18 which my endocrinologist thinks is too low. Luckily I found a doctor who listens to me, not just the range, which for me, is way off. I am 80 years old and my bones and heart are fine, contrary to what my endocrinologist believes is possible. It is very important to find the doctor who will listen to u if you understand your body. Be your own advocate.
I take 112 also and I went to functional APRN and she has added 25mcg of T3, I just started. I hope this helps with high A12 and high cholesterol, tiredness. I eat good, workout. Hopeful
I'm so glad I'm learning more about thyroid issues and that there's treatments available to help with it I feel horrible can't wait for my doctor to make me well again 😭 get your thyroid checked I didn't know I had issues until I've felt unwell and hair loss then I found out when my symptoms started getting worse my levels are low
Thank you Mr. Robinson. You give me hope that I can be well in the future. I just purchased both books and will begin T3 therapy. I am praying this will work. I have tried Cytomel before with no results and am very sick even though my endocrinologist say’s my labs are normal. Shame on the American thyroid association and big Pharma!
Over 35 years I’ve been dealing with hypothyroidism and what a struggle with getting them to prescribe desiccated thyroid medication the reason for that is it’s the biggest profit maker of all medications, the pharmaceuticals industry offers so many perk’s for endroconologists that prescribe within certain numbers and any that do prescribe anything else are victimized. Listening to the video there were so many points touched on that over the years I’ve found just what you have said true especially when it comes to the tsh and t3 and t4 and have at some point heard that there is a useless t2, experience shows how often they have been so wrong as with the useless appendix or tonsils. I do have another view on some of the reasons for such fluctuations person to person regarding numbers. Hopefully some day opportunity to discuss will present itself Thank you both
Yes I do! I had a thyroidectomy and have never been able to get my meds correct fatigue was raging but I think T3 might be a very good way to get over the fatigue
My Dr took me off of my T3 and i have not been right since. I am going to beg her to put me back on. Horrible without it. T4/Synthroid is NOT enough for some of us
Felt well on NDT then added Levothyroxine (FT4) ... to try get FT4 levels up from 10% to 50%. FT4 made me feel so unwell & has put me back after 10 weeks on it (major fatigue, thyroid inflammation, muscle & joint pain & really bad daily headaches). Now 2 weeks off Levothyroxine & trying to get well on NDT alone again.
6 years to get diagnosed after being told I need antidepressants for years and then 18 years on T4 feeling worse and worse being told I need antidepressants. Finally this year had enough money to go private, now on T3 only for Hashi's, high reverse T3 and the DI02 gene issue. I now feel better than I have for decades after my illness along with my doctors dismissing me constantly as depressed and hypochondriac robbed me and my children of a fit and well mother and my husband a functioning wife. I'm in the UK, it's an absolute disgrace the way I and many others have been treated.
This was informative. My doctor suspects I am suffering from thyroid hormone resistance (he thinks it's genetic). He explained thyroid hormone resistance as taking what seems like a fairly high dose of the medication yet only receiving a percentage of the benefit. I have hashimotos and I'm currently taking 75mcg liothyronine (this has been increased over time) and 75mcg levothyroxine daily. I was put on liothyronine because it was determined my body does not convert T4 to T3 well. My latest lab results are a bit confusing since I'm still symptomatic (although since boosting to 75mcg of liothyronine, I have seen a slight improvement in my symptoms) My results are as follows: TSH 0.02, T4 Total 3.3, T3 Reverse
My primary issue with synthetic T4 is the chronic joint pain I was experiencing after using so many years. I also had low HR during workouts. I was just tired. My T3 always measured low normal, so that’s explains a lot. I’m now on 30mg NP thyroid and I’m thinking of increasing the dose for T3.
Thyroid levels vary to the extreme when it comes to ideal levels. A fairly large percentage feel like absolute crap & have every thyroid symptom known with “perfect levels” and don’t feel good & aren’t healthy until their levels are higher than the high normal range. The best doctors agree it should be treated based on symptoms, not blood levels. T3 can be found online btw
Started taking liothyronine 5 mg twice a day and my numbers and T3 have gone down from 2:10 to 1:58 I would imagine by taking the T3 I would be going up even if it's such a small minute amount what could be causing this
Definitely talk about Adrenal Insufficiency, his low cortisol, Iron. The adrenals were what stopped me from absorbing T3 and converting T4 along with low iron. Those must be addressed for T3 to get into the cells. I wasted years being sick until I addressed this!
@@christopherludlam1602 - i could never increase or even stay on NDT thyroid meds with my low iron. Recently my practitioner has put me on B12 methylcobalamin shots. Cortisol, B12 & low iron all seem to prevent effective thyroid supplementation. B12 is related to low iron too.
I can't find a NHS doctor who will help me. I've changed doctors three times. The last one I saw before Christmas I was in fear because I thought she was going to attack me. She was in a very furious mood. I had bronchitis at the time. I've remained untreated for my T3 conversion problem for 30 yrs. I now have heart problems as a result. I self medicated with T3 only once for 3yrs at 250mcg daily and all my symptoms disappeared.
Thank GOD for doctors like this! (who want to learn the WHY of everything and question "normal" values when their patient has bald spots and gain 30 lbs in a month) He needs to start a medical school because doctors need to be trained to think this way!
Amen, Doctors! It's all about getting thyroid patients feeling better. Thank you for saying that. Doctors I see for my Graves don't want me to even question what they're giving me, let alone asking for a T3 test! Frustrating to no end!
Great interview. My GP told me T3 is for people with hyperthyroid and he won't prescribe it to me.I am 2 years on T4 100mcg and now I decided to add small dose t3 on my own.I hope I won't make any damage.I live in the Netherlands and can not find GP who understands how it works. It is so frustrating!
I've been on t4 since 2013 and felt like crap ever since I've deterated so badly I'm on disability so I decided to get t3 under ground since my endocrinologist won't prescribe it with my t4. Fed up just existing I want to live for once.
@dede5004 I haven't received my order yet. Its coming from Germany. When it comes I'll message back. I can't recommend them if they don't come through 🤷🏾♀️
If I have high reverse T3 with lots of hypothyroid symptoms but everything else is normal, should I still take thyroid supplements to feel better? to treat the reverse T3 issue. I feel crappy a lot
Excellent interview! I definitely will be talking with my Dr. about T-3 only. I would like more indepth science to show WHY T-4 doesnt covert to T-3... why the body puts out the D-enzyme to block process ... and why testing of the brain ( various glands) is not done prior to medicating ???
This is some really great info but what we need is a list of doctors nationwide who will prescribe T3 only or are open to that as a therapy. It took me several years to find an endo who was willing to let me try T3 based on my own research, monitoring my symptoms and numbers. He hadn’t prescribed it before but I found out after my success with it, he starting prescribing it. He wasn’t willing to put me on Armour, but the Cytomel added to levoxyl was a game changer for me at the time. Fast forward, I’m on Armour and it works even better, though every time I have labs done, I get the “Well, your TSH is suppressed.” I’m a medical technologist by degree and I explain the negative feedback system and I know TSH is a messenger: if your thyroid hormone levels are adequate, you don’t need TSH telling your thyroid to make more! I think it boils down to liability in most cases, unfortunately. Our lawsuit happy society wants to hold doctors to some standard of perfection, so doctors get scared of working outside the boundaries of “normal” test ranges. If you find a doctor who listens and works with you, that’s great, but if you or they move away and you have to start over, it’s scary.
Do you guys like this type of interview? Do you want to see more? Let me know!
Sometimes, if they go straight to the point and Iinformative
Yes, I love this kind of interview, I'm currently going through the same thing. I have hashimotos and would love to try just T3 only. I've been on levothyroxine, synthroid, armour, tirasent. Felt miserable on all of them.
T3 has changed my life so much! I went through an awful time with my thyroid disease, especially after having RAI. Doctors are clueless regarding thyroid disease.
Thank you, Dr. Childs! If only GPs could be forced to watch this interview, maybe there would be fewer thyroid patients suffering unnecessarily.
Yes love this interview.
How much T4 med are you taking?
are you taking any T4? or just the Cytomel?

We learn so much here. When I became ill 8 years ago I was given Levothyroxine and told "you have Hashimoto's, take this, goodbye".
Same with me. Dr: "You have Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism. Take levothyroxine for the rest of your life. See you in 6 months" . Me: Wait! How did I get it! What can I expect"? Dr: "Next patient, please"
Exactly..
It gave me my life back again!
were you just on T3 or were you also on T4?
@@dryRoses I am on T4 112 & T3 only 5!
I’m going to insist on a referral to Endocrinologist next time I see my Dr!
Agreed.
What supplement helped you to increase ferritin to 70? I’m struggling with my iron levels
Thank you for the quick response. 🙏🥰
@@Kker448 I heard you can ask your doctor for an iron IV and that helps tremendously. Some supplements don’t always get you there.
In the 2 yrs since, I've put on 50 lbs, lost much of my hair, have lizard skin, etc. In a phone appointment, she told me I needed to stop being lazy and exercise. That’s a disgrace to treat a patient out of ignorance.
Usually they’ll be functional, intregrative or Naturopathic ND ( stay away from those who graduated from Bastyr or be very careful in selecting)
I can make a recommendation if you’re interested?
@@avimae4225That’s horrible and I experienced a similar situation when I had to switch providers… When she refused to prescribe my T3 that I had been taking with my T4, I went in a search for another prescriber!

I too am from the St. Louis area and understand your struggle. Would you mind please sharing who you see for your thyroid treatment?
The utter passion, love, and caring that Dr. Westin Childs and Author Paul Robinson have to educate the public, and explaining how absurd mainstream medicine is on such an important issue as thyroid, and getting the thyroid functioning at optimal levels. This video/info "brought me literally to tears" since I have hypothyroidism and been fighting to feel normal instead of feeling like an alien since 1990!! These interviews are GOLD
Glad you enjoy them!
They don't carexabout us. Only a consistent paycheck and kickbacks smh. Sickening.
All doctors are not trained to identify most thyroid problems , or how to to treat thyroid issues
I disagree with your doctor, Im 77 years old and went through your same experience with my
HCPs, demand a full panel t3 reverse t3, thyroid antibodies etc.
Most doctors , even some specialist are not up to date, they remain in a money making comfort zone, I fought for 2 yrs.straight only to be dismissed and disrespected, but kept fighting, today I’m doing much better , good luck to you , l know what it feels like. Had an effects?

absolutely wonderful discussion, couldn't agree more with every point! It is very important to find the doctor who will listen to u if you understand your body. Be your own advocate.
Doc added 25mcg liothyrinine to my 112mcg synthroid. Game changer 🙌🏾
25mcg is usually enough to feel it :) Glad you feel better!
Great things Dr iyaremoses on UA-cam has being doing for mankind, I undergo his treatment for 6 days and my hypothyroidism was gone
My thyroid tests are never the same. Then I got Afib. Meds are so expensive.
Great video 👌 Thank you Dr. Childs and Mr. Robinson
Welcome!
Incredible information. Thank you both for doing this.
Yes, I like this type of interview. I just came across this video and find it very helpful!!
Glad to hear it!
Your channel is helping me so much 😢 thank you. I have been suffering for 2.5 years.
Hopefully some day opportunity to discuss will present itself
Thank you both
Yes I do! I had a thyroidectomy and have never been able to get my meds correct fatigue was raging but I think T3 might be a very good way to get over the fatigue
That was brilliant! I am sending this link to my doctor.
My Dr took me off of my T3 and i have not been right since. I am going to beg her to put me back on. Horrible without it. T4/Synthroid is NOT enough for some of us
Help us to find drs that will treat thyroid correctly please.
Thank you this is wonderful, I like different lab ranges!
Another awesome interview 👏👏👏
Very glad I found this video. What a great discussion. Helped me understand where I am at a whole lot more.
Hyperthyroidism has similar symptoms to Hypothyroidism.

Started taking liothyronine 5 mg twice a day and my numbers and T3 have gone down from 2:10 to 1:58 I would imagine by taking the T3 I would be going up even if it's such a small minute amount what could be causing this
Great interview nice to get a different perspective
Definitely talk about Adrenal Insufficiency, his low cortisol, Iron. The adrenals were what stopped me from absorbing T3 and converting T4 along with low iron. Those must be addressed for T3 to get into the cells. I wasted years being sick until I addressed this!
@@christopherludlam1602 - i could never increase or even stay on NDT thyroid meds with my low iron. Recently my practitioner has put me on B12 methylcobalamin shots. Cortisol, B12 & low iron all seem to prevent effective thyroid supplementation. B12 is related to low iron too.
@@christopherludlam1602have you considered the carnivore diet?
I can't find a NHS doctor who will help me. I've changed doctors three times. The last one I saw before Christmas I was in fear because I thought she was going to attack me. She was in a very furious mood. I had bronchitis at the time. I've remained untreated for my T3 conversion problem for 30 yrs. I now have heart problems as a result. I self medicated with T3 only once for 3yrs at 250mcg daily and all my symptoms disappeared.
Incredible interview! Wow
Thank GOD for doctors like this! (who want to learn the WHY of everything and question "normal" values when their patient has bald spots and gain 30 lbs in a month) He needs to start a medical school because doctors need to be trained to think this way!
Yes, I love this type of interview
Thanks Dr. Childs. You’re great, especially at .75 playback speed 😁
Haha, sorry!
Yes great interview
Fantastic interview 🙏🏼👍
Amen, Doctors! It's all about getting thyroid patients feeling better. Thank you for saying that. Doctors I see for my Graves don't want me to even question what they're giving me, let alone asking for a T3 test! Frustrating to no end!
Great things Dr iyaremoses on UA-cam has being doing for mankind, I undergo his treatment for 6 days and my hypothyroidism was gone
Find a functional doctor in Netherlands - Germany and Belgium has many 🦋💙
hi
did it work out for you?
you sourced it on your own?
im from Switzerland and in the same boat no doctor wants to prescribe me T3 :(
Where are you getting the t3 if your doctor won't prescribe it?
T3 would make a Hyperthyroid patient even more hyper. They need less hormone not more.
@@tanjasrensen3303 can you please tell me which functional dr? im in belgium and still not having luck
I enjoyed this interview very much 😊
I've been on t4 since 2013 and felt like crap ever since I've deterated so badly I'm on disability so I decided to get t3 under ground since my endocrinologist won't prescribe it with my t4. Fed up just existing I want to live for once.
How's it going? I've ordered some online too.. just waiting on delivery.
@@No_Frills_Carnivorehi, can you point me in the direction of reputable sources
@dede5004 I haven't received my order yet. Its coming from Germany. When it comes I'll message back. I can't recommend them if they don't come through 🤷🏾♀️
I am also asking a friend who visits Mexico often to bring some back. It’s not in any way illegal to do this.
Paul is a smart man. I have cfs/me and normal / optimal thyriod. I supplement with low dose t3 and it def helps
OTC?
@@christinearmington it's not otc
Good philosophy and great interview 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you gentlemen for sharing ✌🏽💖🤟🏼✨️🧚♂️
If I have high reverse T3 with lots of hypothyroid symptoms but everything else is normal, should I still take thyroid supplements to feel better? to treat the reverse T3 issue. I feel crappy a lot
In my opinion, yes.
Liothyronine is covered in the USA thru most insurances, unlike the NDT compound.
Thank you both for sharing this amazing info 🦋 ...
Welcome!
Can you kindly do a video on T3 and pregnancy - is it safe to take? 🙏🏻❤️
Excellent interview!
I definitely will be talking with my Dr. about T-3 only.
I would like more indepth science to show WHY T-4 doesnt covert to T-3... why the body puts out the D-enzyme to block process ... and why testing of the brain ( various glands) is not
done prior to
medicating ???
I'm working on putting a list together but it's not as easy as it seems :)
Work with an NP at a BIHT
I order from Mexico without Rx. A friend who visits Mexico all the time is bringing some back. It’s not illegal for goodness sake.
So hopeful and informative
Thank you Mr Robinson, us too we are tired 😪
Excellent interview.
