I'm a Vietnam Vet-used iodine tablets when I filled my canteen from a stream. Our drinking water was also treated back at base camp with iodine. Nasty tasting water. Slept on the ground for a year in the rain sometimes soaking wet--never sick a day, not even a cold and I was a heavy smoker then. I always thought it must have been the iodine.

I had polycystic ovary disease. I went to many doctors and was prescribed so many types of birth control pills, cancer medication, Metformin, and the list goes on. I almost had a hysterectomy because of how heavy the flow was. I had become severely anemic. It was crazy and I felt trapped. I can't remember what UA-cam video I was watching, but it was recommended to try iodine for breast tenderness. Some little voice in the back of my head sent me to dig deeper into that comment. I ended up reading the book iodine crisis. It took about seven months and now I'm in my forties and finally having a normal monthly cycle. It's completely crazy and there's a part of me that's very upset at today's medical system. All I needed was iodine!! I am in my mid forties and now can have children but that ship has sailed. I know my life would have been completely different if I had found iodine sooner!!!😢

I have heard of many people getting pregnant in their mid forties! If you still want a child maybe you can have one. Look into Proov. its an ovulation tracking kit that also tracks your other hormones like FSH, LH, and E3...many people sucessfully use it to get pregnant. 40s is not too late. as long as you have a cycle there is a chance.

As a fellow family physician who also stayed open during the pandemic, I feel the pain and lingering caution that Dr. Brownstien displayed. I watched as many holistic and nutritional healers had their platforms taken down, suffer from ridicule and some seemed to just disappear. Its one reason why I refrained from being on social media discussing the many modalities that we used to help people through the pandemic. It was a very bizarre time in medicine. Currently we are bringing this awareness into the 22 year old practice along with bio-identical hormone replacement at a very high level. Dr. Brownstiens work is very much discussed and greatly appreciated by our colleagues and his books are required reading.
I would also like to say that we are all very fortunate to have a healer like Judy Cho who uses her training and wisdom on this platform to help people heal. I appreciate her and will continue to always have an open mind when listening to this great source of information.
    Thanks 🙏🏽 JC!

I had a bottle of triple iodine complex capsules (in case of nuclear accident) and started taking 1/day (12.5 mg) about a week ago. On day 2, I noticed an increase in energy. I got so much yard work done in the last week and cleaned my house for a party and many other things - in a week! I look back and wonder where I got all this energy. Was it the iodine? I remember when I was in first grade we were given "thyroid pills". Some kids hated the taste and wouldn't eat them, but I loved the taste and would eat mine plus 4 or 5 extra.
At this same time, flouride in toothpaste and water was introduced. Also, iodine was removed from baked goods and put into salt. Margarine & Crisco was all the rage; but, thankfully, my family favored butter and lard.

    • @AlastrionaS

I remember thyroid pills in grade school too. I kind of think it had to do with the threat of nuclear war. We did drills for that, too. Anyway, I’ve taken Synthroid since I was 25.
Nothing to do with iodine, but our grade school also had a “Swish” program in which the students rinsed with half a Dixie cup of fluoride once a week, then spit it out then put a napkin into the cup. I’ve had about five root canals and multiple fillings…but no agency ever followed up after HS, so great study.

When I got out of the hospital I did loads of research and Iodine was the standout thing and have been taking it ever since. I feel so much better. I also started on HRT patches to see how they affected me. I have been working on my immune system through diet. The thyroxin is low dose and when the Dr’s do a 3 month prescription re-check I asked to get my levels checked - the answer is ‘we don’t routinely do this’ I’ve tried each Dr and offered to pay. How can they continue to prescribe without checking my levels? I have finally got someone at the practice to get these done (pharmacist prescriber) and I’m waiting on the results. I started iodine in mid December after months of feeling as if something was stuck in my throat (sort of like feeling peanut butter stuck). I also suffered constipation, cold feet and hair loss. High blood pressure and more. The iodine completely got rid of that weird lump in the throat feeling, and no more cold feet. However, I did just take a full thyroid panel and everything was normal except the TSH elevated at 7.3. I believe Dr. Brownstein answered my exact question about this. He mentioned being idoine deficient and then taking it that sometimes you will see elevated TSH. I found this fascinating. I am curious to check it again in about 3 months eating clean carnivore and taking my iodine. THANK YOU!

I picked up a old little book titled: Folk Medicine by D.C.Jarvis M.D. written in 1958. More than 3 Million Copies Sold on front cover. For some old time wisdom, it's a gold mine. Chapter 11 The Importance of Iodine is a must read. He talks of using Lugol's Solution. "There is a well known law of halogen displacement. This means that any one of the four can displace the element with the higher weight, but cannot displace an element with a lower atomic weight." Relative Atomic Weight is as follows, Fluorine 19., Chlorine 35.5, Bromine 80, Iodine 127, IE. Fluorine can displace all of the other 3 halides because it is the smallest size. Needless to say Iodine gets displaced by the other 3 halides because it is the biggest in size. Personally i would recommend taking your Iodine first thing upon waking up, probably your most fasted state and having your body with the longest daily window of detoxing the other halides. A recommended method is 12 oz water or more with a tsp of apple cider vinegar, stir in your Lugol's drop amount. I actually think it makes for an enjoyable drink. Another thing i read somewhere is that all wheat flour has bromate in it since about the 80's when they switched out iodine. The only flour that doesn't have it will state that the flour is unbromated on the ingredient list otherwise it is. Another thing, all animal products are low in Fluorine, the most dominate of all halides, i'd say because all animals are trying to detox themselves of it like we are. Plants absorb Fluorine from the soil and water and just continue to accumulate hence plant foods have the highest levels. Fluorine is more toxic then lead but not as toxic as cyanide. Google search. 97% of Europe does not fluoridate there water because Flourine has no biological benefit to do so. Also Chlorine in your water will stop absorbtion of Iodine. Another method of getting your iodine is putting it on your skin, i can't remember how fast it disappears as to how much you would need to reapply. Also iodine can remove skin tags, warts and other skin things.

I'm in Atlantic Canada. I purchase the Atlas brand of Lugol's from a local compounding pharmacy. It's made by Atlas Laboratories in Quebec. The medicinal ingredients indicates that each milliliter contains 50 mg of iodine and 100 mg of potassium iodide. The bottle doesn't indicate whether it's 2% or 5% so I called the company and they confirmed it was 5%. The bottle does not include a dropper however I've purchased a glass bottle and a dropper from a local health store. Hope that helps the Canadians.

Tx for this talk. I was diagnosed with fibrocystic breast around 1990. Life went on and was started on thyroid medication 2013. I can see the progression. I just this year started taking iodine supplement. Not sure yet how it's helped but I don't feel worse. I am carnivore for 1.5 yrs. My health is slowly improving. I heard the iodine helps gut health and I have not been constipated for about a month. Not eating fiber either. Tx. This talk shows I am on the right track. I can't believe I was in bad health for so long and the medical system was only diagnosing and it was sink or swim from there. I could have started the iodine back in 1990. Having a dosage between 15-45mg can cause problems. I believe it was Elizabeth Wright who brought this up.

Hello from the UK. Interesting interview thank you. I've been using lugals 5% on various locations on my skin over the last couple of weeks and have ordered 12.5mcg ioderol. Though I do have fibrous breast tissue I probably should take more.
I also have primary lymphoedema. Does anyone know if there's any data on iodine and lymphoedema?

I had been on thyroid medication for about 25 years when I saw your previous segments with Dr. Brownstein and another person about a year ago. I had my doctor do the blood test for iodine, and it was below the lab's normal range. I dropped my medication and ramped up to 50 mg of iodine, then after a month went in for TSH, T3, and T4 tests. Initially my TSH went super high as you described, but the T3 and T4 were in the normal range without medication. After 3 months the TSH came back down and the T3 and T4 stayed normal. I asked my GP why doctors didn't test for iodine or suggest iodine supplementation before putting people on medication. He smiled and said it was a good question. Now I'm down to a 12.5 mg tablet, but think I'll go back to 25 mg based on Dr. Brownstein's advice.

Wow amazing! I might try this. What iodine supplement did you use?

@@meg3298 I started on 2% liquid lugol's solution ramping up from 1 to 5 drops, then switched to 12.5 mg capsules. I don't have the brand in front of me, but got them all from Amazon. Some people are more sensitive than others to the displacement effect of bromine, so how fast to ramp up would depend on how you feel. I noticed that it has an almost amphetamine like effect - I felt noticeably more lucid at higher doses. Once I stopped using the liquid, I started putting one drop a day in my dog's human keto food diet. She's a 14 year old golden retriever who's still doing well.

Very helpful excellent interview. Except, It seems that high LDL levels are good for your health and longevity (in relation to praising lower cholesterol in doctor's father).

Great interview! I have put my entire family on iodine because if Dr. Brownstein … what a difference!!!! We have more energy, great sleep!! 😴 too. Great!! But honestly the orthodox medical people look at me like I have two heads when I ask about iodine!!! I’m waiting to be arrested! lol 😜 I live in Ireland 🇮🇪

I have been taking iodine since 2014. I had to start small with the drops but worked my way up to 50mg (Iodoral or Lugotab) over about 18 months due to some herx reactions at first (skin splits, etc). Read the literature. I also take the ATP cofactors (b2 and b3). We also filter the fluoride out of our water to avoid the competition with the iodine receptors. Feel great!

That’s wonderful to hear! I’ve just started taking 600Ug (MILLIGRAMS) daily. So you worked up to the point that you are now taking 50 MACROGRAMS. Is that correct?

I was diagnosed with under active thyroid in 2004 , after years of fatigue . I ve been taking 75 mg thyroxine since 2004 . I'm 71 but still regularly get hot flashes , which I've had since beginning menopause at 48 .
I assumed the flashes were due to menopause but could there be a connection with the thyroid or the levothyroxine . You mentioned bromide ...could that cause hot flashes . ? Can anyone advise please ?
