Let me know what is your favourite Hive Fleet from the 6 I've covered so far and I'll paint up a Hive Tyrant to show you how to add extra details to your main character models!
Torn between the third colour scheme in the first vid and the Leviathan ... tough choice. The third colour scheme from the first vid is my final answer.
Absolutely super video Andy, thanks so much sharing. Definitely going to use this for the Tyranids in the Leviathan Box set. Also wishing you the very best with this venture, remember speaking with you and all your super advice in GW Dublin over the years!
Leviathan looks insane, definitely painting my 10th edition box in scheme. I’ll also add in either a pink/reddish wash or contrast to the fleshy openings on the skin but that’s the only thing I’d add
Wow, this is amazing to me. I sold off my Tyranids several years ago because I never could get a color scheme that I liked. This was long before Contrast paints which have been a game changer too, watching this makes me feel like giving Tyranids another go. Thanks!
I'm always in big trouble finding a colour scheme for my minis and army's. This video is an absolute gamechanger. I'll going with your Behemoth Style. Absolutely awesome!
Your really making it hard to choose which one! lol might have to do all of them thanks again for another awesome video I cant wait to see more tyranid painting videos
Haha all of them is good! Maybe a mixed swarm of them fighting together 😂 there’ll be one on the hive tyrant soon, still not sure what scheme is winning so do leave a vote!
Really good video Andy. I had been looking forward to the Marines but now I'm thinking of going back and repainting some of my really old Tyranids as well...
That’s exactly what I wanted from this video, simple schemes that will encourage people to paint any Tyranids lying around their houses and giving them new life! Painted is always better than grey!
Hey, love the quick schemes! You're dead right about reward/effort on the last one, absolutely cracking in very quick order. I didn't cop until you mentioned it but I met you once at GW Dublin, you were sound and gave me quick tips that were really welcome on my return to the mini hobby. Cheers! :)
Just came across your channel, I will be getting it for the marines but do like the nids and didn’t know what scheme to do them in , so this really helps 👍
Ohhh im torn between behemoth and that Kraken scheme. Both are excellent and I kind of want to see how they turn out on a bigger model to get an idea how they would look for a whole army
I've always had a soft spot for leviathan but whatever one gets picked for the next video, I'm looking forward to it. I have my own way for painting leviathan planned anyway.
These are great! My cousin and I are splitting the box and I'm sending him your videos to keep him hyped and get him thinking about what fleet to paint his Tyranids. If your going to paint more then I think you should definitely paint the Hive Tyrant in Bahemoth colors the red and bluenat that size will look amazing Great video as always Andy
Great work with these paint schemes! I'd love to see one for hive fleet Jormungandr. I've always had a soft spot for it after seeing an example in the 4th edition rule book.
After trying and coming up with so many different color schemes for my nids, I’m throwing those out and going for speedy contrast paints for all my little nids. Need to make the best use of my time at the bench.
That Behemoth scheme is nice! I've already decided to go with one from the previous video but man it's tempting. And hey, you say words however you want! 🤣
Thank you for the videos. Went with behemoth scheme. They have really come out well. Used blood anges red contrast instead of flesh tears red and bezerker blood shade instead of nuln oil. Its definitely changed things up for me as opposed to painting space marines. I think im starting to like tyranids more than them 😮. Thanks again
Glad I saw this video. The Luxion purple looks great for Leviathan. I probably would have used Leviadon purple, but I think I’ll use Luxion now. I need to paint these quickly, and that scheme looks extremely fast!
Yes, yes, YES! This is the video I've been looking for. I'm personally torn between Behemoth and Kraken. Good job I've got a Tyranid combat patrol laying about to trial these schemes out. Thanks for this 👍🏻 Edit: It's Behemoth

Nice. I ain't painted in years but always want to get back into it, my tyranids had a green skin grey dark blue chitin and dark grey claws etc scheme that i think looks cool, def didn't have an easy way to do it tho would take me ages 😂. I think the hydra fleet where nice, but sometimes it looks like they are wearing blue jumpers and purple hands. Lol.
So cool, thank you! Kinda wondering what a mashup between Kraken and Leviathan would look like. Aggaros dunes for the skin, Luxion purple for the chitin, and that ardcoat to finish it off.. Also any tips to not have my contrast layer look streaky?
Wow these look amazing. Agree. The middle one isn't my favourite either. But man 1st and past schemes look amazing. Would you have time to do a purestrain genestealer? That blue and purple are a great scheme.

My only problem is what to do for things like wings in that scheme as was looking to pick up the parasite of mortrex to add to my existing force. Any tips?
It takes a bit of practice to get brush control with contrast but I’ve also done the tutorials in a way that the next layer/colour will be best to cover over any mistakes too. If you’re having trouble, try a smaller brush as well.

I'm new to the hobby. Do you just use the contrast paints straight from the pot or you thin it first?
Straight from the pot unless I specifically say it in a video, for these guys it’s just from the pot!
@@MediocreHobbies you're the best! 👍🏾
Greetings! I am using your recipe for Hive Fleet Behemoth, with a few small tweaks, and LOVE the results. So far I have done termagaunts, a carnifex, a nerogaunt, and a couple of other things. I am getting ready to do some of the models with wings, like the hive tyrant, but I have no idea how to get that pale faded look that would look good with the red and blue. Do you have any tips?
Have you seen the video I did on the parasite of mortrex? It’s in a different scheme but I think the way the wings are done might work for your scheme? Let me know if you still have questions though!
@@MediocreHobbiesthank you! I hadn’t seen that video yet. I just checked it. I think that method will work great. I never thought to put the two contrasts over each other. Thank you!
The very first model you painted in the last nid video was gorgeous but now the turquoise on that flesh teare's red has me in a bit of a quandary...dammit.
Hahaha sorry about that pal.
What are the base size?
The new size is 28mm. The once I did my testers on was 32mm.
What was the yellow color on the gun from the last termagant
Imperial Fist contrast
i think we can do a fantastic xenomorph version with your 2nd scheme : just swap red color with bright blue - black 😀.
Oo great idea!! Let me know if you give it a try, would love to see that!
@@MediocreHobbies i will try ^^
is there any way you can do a kraken type scheme but with green chitin?
There's a few good green contrast paints, it really depends on what tone you like, would be easy to test out though!
Please what kind of purple is used on tongue on kraken paint scheme ?
Volupus pink contrast!
@@MediocreHobbies thanks a lot mate :) been puzzled by it a lot
What a great tutorial, man! How do you paint your bases tho? What do you use?
Here's what I do except I use AK Interactive - Terrains: Asphalt instead of the GW stuff, just haven't updated the tutorial yet! ua-cam.com/video/mhFpWp5fsRs/v-deo.html
@@MediocreHobbies thanks!
I would love a yellow Tyranid scheme
I've seen one or two yellow 'nids floating around the internet, might get around to one eventually but not sure there's enough interest!
@@MediocreHobbies They are called hive fleet jormungandr, and i think Peachy did a tutorial for the warhammer channel on them a while back, I just like your results better and thought you could do something amazing with them, but I understand if it doesn´t have broad appeal.
I am stealing that behemoth scheme!
Steal away! Please tag me if you post anything online, would love to see how they turn out!
tyranids yay
Hahaha always.
@@MediocreHobbies are doing some sylvaneth at some point or have i missed some
I haven't yet! Might do in future but it's not a very popular army at the moment, maybe if they get an update though!
