Deadeye relic works very well with Untamed, which has cantrips (both offensive and defensive) and can take at least 3 on any build. PvP or PvE, it's the best for me.
Had to scroll down quite a bit to encounter a fellow Untamed enjoyer with the same idea! With the ability to reduce your cooldown in the elite this could work well, have to get in some more practice myself though.
Relic of ice is actually good on a condi Reaper and ok on condi herald because of the chill to damaging condi traits they have. If all the icicles hit the same mob on a Reaper (which they will if it's a boss for example) it does MASSIVE bleed stacks. Similarly, akeem relic is good on torment builds ... Not confusion, because it also procs when the target has 5 stacks of torment. And applying that confusion + torment on say an harbinger pistol torch build, with the multiple cc, is great.
I chose my rune based on how much fun it would change my gameplay rather than being numbers oriented. On my warrior I chose Rune of The Daredevil (crit guaranteed after dodge roll) and I use it to collect enemies into a group and then smash them down. It's quite satisfying.
The guaranteed crit seems super strong for Bladesworn. You could theoretically invest entirely into crit damage with little to no crit chance for HUGE Dragon Slashes.
I could see that, totally. Haven't tried it yet, but will give it a shot. Right now, I love collecting huge groups of mobs and then using my F1 hammer attack.@@ChaseBlasingame
@@Enmessara Yeah, I looked at all the effects. got just..whelmed...and decided to take a fun game play approach instead. IT gave my warrior a reason to dodge and now I use my dodge in a strategic way instead of an 'oh sh***, there's an aoe!'
@chaseblasingame588 You can already sort of do this with the Arms traitline and its guaranteed crit on bursts from grandmaster traits- you go full cavalier gear for insane toughness but still get guaranteed enormous dragon slash damage. Lord Hizen made a build for it
Relic of Fireworks is amazing on a power soulbeast, which has its effect triggered on axe 5, worldly impact, frenzied strike and barrage if using a longbow. Try it out, it can do some crazy bursts.
Relic of the flock might be good for a bit of extra survival for warriors who use mending. Since mending is on a 12 sec cd, every use of it will trigger the relic, which means a little barrier each time. Of course, the barrier will have to be consumed in 5 seconds or else it will have been wasted. But in any fight where you need to heal, it's likely that the barrier will break during that 5 second period.
Feel like you did mabon dirty, its good on supports currently buffing outgoing might on allies without giving the mabon timer. Its also pretty nice on power mirage since gs ambush gives might and you get 4 ambushes making your cleave heavier with burst but thats kind of niche.
I have a feeling that relic of Mabon can work quite well on a quickness DPS herald build because herald just passively generates so much might anyway and it has a trait that gets more power but less condi per might stack so surely that 25% increase is worth it no? Just get used to the timing of it and use your burst.
@@Vallun i just wiki'd and the 25% might increase comes from base might.. none of the power-increasing might traits effects it, i thought it did lmao. clunkiness... yeah maybe you're right. i calculated it and it gives 187.5 more power during the 8 seconds so yeah maybe not worth it. but it might be worth it in groups when there's likely other might providers so once you lose might stacks.. self-might as well as other people giving might shoots it back to 25 stacks quickly to make up for the post-effect might loss?
@@Vallun What's interesting is that it seems to also affect might stacks you give to others. The wiki lists this as an unintended bug, though I'm not certain if its unintended cause I feel the wording could imply it either way - your stacks can be just yours, or any stacks generated by you. So a support or heal build can use it to increase the condi/power through might they give to other players. Like a aggressive support relic that makes its allies deal more damage at the cost of not having some healing or support relic. Edit: Seems the source for it being a unintended bug is a dev saying so in some streamer's chat
@@xLeopanther oh damn. it would be cool if it wasn't unintended. but then again if that was the case then it would set Mabon relic to an outright S tier.

regarding relic of dwayna and celestial avatar: afaik the old dwayna effect didnt affect the regen priority (same for other +mods for regen) and which regen counts depends on healing power alone edit: quote from wiki "Only healing power affects boon prioritization; healing modifiers do not"
you say relic of the deadeye isn't good because most cantrips are defensive, but what about Untamed? all there cantrips are offensive or buffs. I use them non-stop with the Deadeye relic. I am note sure how often it triggers but in my head it seems like it is a good thing.
I play power deadeye with rifle and staff and withdrawal as my heal; really nothing seems to make sense except for adventurer relic (or whatever the gain 50% endurance when using heal skill relic is.) But I don't really do fractals, so maybe the one which grants superspeed on stealth could be useful there since this build stealths a lot. idfk
Relic of Peitha perfect for condi dmg and working super with staff mirage, staff skill 2 working like deception skill and all of utility and elite skill deception too so good working on staff mirage.
I was messing around with relic of Mabon on the training golems in pvp. It seems to work decently on builds that can stack might quickly, especially those that can might on auto attack. I can imagine builds that use warrior MH dagger, ranger MH axe and Engie Hammer can stack enough might take advantage of the 25% boost. Also they wouldn't be too hampered by the might dropping.
one thing Vallun gets wrong here is that, Mabon relic at face value doesn't look good right...but it's effect applies on allies...meaning it was meant to be a kind of support build that boosts your teams DPS at the cost of your own, which makes it very interesting...and possibly a requirement for groups to take at least 1. I learned this information from some forum users asking questions.
@@NightmareCourtPictures That's a confirmed unintended effect and will be patched out soon. It's supposed to only apply to you, not your allies. So it's pretty shit.
The problem I have with it is even if you're stacking might constantly it'll still take 30 seconds to trigger due to the cooldown. And then you'd better be paying attention or you'll miss the window AND lose your might stacks.
Re: toughness from leadership Every tank on toughness fixate fights should be able to run at least 1201 toughness. This is because catalysts without toughness gear have 1200 toughness with max Elemental Empowerment stacks (if traited), and a merged soulbeast (with the beastmastery traitline) has 1150 toughness when running no toughness gear, since they get +150 to their primary stats from the beastmastery specialization. With how strong these builds are at the moment (45k golem on catalyst + good boon output, 44k golem on soulbeast with extremely high burst), tanks should be able to handle this. (For a long time, the general advice for PUGs has been to have enough toughness swaps to at least beat celestial anyway, since giver's/harriers tank + celestial offhealer is a nice composition in groups who don't want to run two full healers but aren't comfortable solohealing.) TLDR +36 toughness from leadership is NBD, tanks should have at least 1201 toughness.
you're right and normally I wouldn't care in most situations but this is a general video, who knows what other toughness they have on top of the leadership
Deadeye relic works WONDERS on my tempest air overload burst, engaging with air ol while on stone skin cantrip?? 11 stability stacks and prot, plus dagger air 3 to stun everyone on being hit? *chef's kiss*

Thanks for video, but I think you haven't recommended any power relic? On thief you mentioned some else is/are better but then haven't picked any to recommend. Or have I missed something?
I was using your build : "HAMMER Dragonhunter - Guild Wars 2 WvW Guardian Build" - in wvw mode, can u tell me witch one relic will be the best for this build???
the monk relic has a few issues it only applies 1 stack for each skill that applies boons so even if I sue a skill that gives 5 boons itll only be 1 stack of the monk relics healing buff and the 3 sec duration applys to all satack so if you at 10 stacks and get stuned for 3 seconds welp time to start from the begining again, have some forced downtime back to the beginign you go \o/ these could be bugs but its the behaviour I am seeing and it feels kinda bad
Idk I dont like how they approached the system. They shouldve given you relic boxes for the amount of equipment templates you have first of all. Second they shouldve made the relics you got mostly the same as what was already there. And the newer ones you should get through playing soto. So your builds were still more or less the same ans if you wanted new stuff, you are incentivised to play the new expansion.
For the brawler relic actually, I've been working with it using Vindicator and retribution to try and get more use out of it, but I haven't done enough testing and buildcrafting with it, so it's probably only really good for some pvp or wvw builds.
I don't agree with his view. The relic of Durability provides 4 secs of protection + regen after using a heal each 15 seconds. In a full celestial with Surging runes (as my Renebow), at both PvE and WvW that means 6.4 seconds, and since Revs has 2-3 heals, you get the benefits every time. Of course in PvP is worse, due there is nerfed to last only 3 seconds and in PvP there's no celestial stats or barely any buff to boon duration. But for a solo build in OW which isn't searching to reach the maximum damage output but instead to be tanky and do the work is perfect. The same with Vindi and Herald hybrid builds.
@@Buran01 I normally only wvw and the durability rune was just something I liked taking on my power builds to just give it a little more survivability. I feel like on my ranger getting regen and protection from my heal is pretty damn good. Warrior I already get protection from gear so it’s probably better to take something else.
Peitha is interesting on bladesworn since it has shadowsteps and a delayed burst. If you run lush forest and maybe discipline, it could have some potential.
@@h3rpad3rpacifilis I tested earlier and Ya it does trigger the effect. It does work pretty well damage wise. My only issue is with timing. It takes about 2-3 seconds before the little dagger actually trigger on an enemy
I tried the Herald relic last night on W1-4 clears. I play AlacDPS Mech so I'm constantly giving Alacrity. My Boon duration never increased more than 1% so I'm wondering if this only works if 'you're' providing the boons yourself rather than via a Mech??
That's probably why almost all relics absolutely suck. They for some reason went hard with the Elite skill proc, but didn't grant Engineer the possibility to finally be good at something, which is Relic abuse. I don't think ANet knows what they want to do with their game anymore really.
Thanks for the nice video. I tested most of them over the past week as well (in the PVP lobby at first, as you did) and think your thought are on point. There are certainly some niche scenario's/builds you miss here, but that's to be expected if you go over all of them. I for one have been really impressed with Relic of the Nightmare on my condi Mirage, Jaunt makes it such that I can consistently use it every 30 seconds and typically ensure I can land it (sometimes with the second Jaunt to stick to the target, or with Axe skills) and having a fear + poison effect on a build that otherwise can lack these effects has been really nice. It might seem minor, but both Fear and Poison are really high value in small fights i.m.o. and I've been loving its impact.
I did include that possibility in the instance of rune of resistance, but even then I think vigor from evasion might just be better on mirage (though not as interesting)
Nightmare relic is also acceptable on a condi Reaper. Since the fear gets you one more chill and thus more bleed. Plus necros get access to terror for turning fear into a damage condi, which isn't bad in some builds.
The introduction of relics still won't change how people use Runes, which was one of the main reasons they removed the special bonus off the 6th rune to make the relics, so I'm not really sure what they've acheived. The most powerful rune effects still come from having 6 of the same type of rune. Rune of Infiltration gives +125 precision on the 6th rune..the biggest boon for this set. Until they average the benefits equally across the 6 runes, people will still stick with a single set rather than mix-n-match. Infiltration runes should give a flat +40 precision and +30 power (ish) EACH rune... do the same for all runes and then people will mix them up a bit more.
hi for staff condi mirage would you suggest trapper rune or still nightmare runes? nightmare runes just has +%5 more condi duration but -125 condi dmg when compared to trapper so maybe instead of %5 condi duration, 125 condi dmg would be better?
Anybody else having issues with the axe 1 skil being the only skill not being on the action bar as guardian? I unlocked weapon master and wanted to lvl a guardian using axe. All skills are there except the main 1 skill
Yeah I was testing it out on single target, and I think Vallun is incorrect when he said that it only shoots one icicle per target, because I seemed to be shooting like five of them on a single training golemm it just doesn't happen instantly. It was really bursting high bleed procs.
@@datboi04tested it extensively. The icicles split based on distance and number of enemies it seems. So on one target you hit those 5 icicles and get an instant 20 bleed stacks on Reaper from that relic alone, with the other traits of Reaper and using sigil of earth and chilled to the bone as the elite, you get an instant 31 bleed, potentially more from barbed precision.
Thanks for putting up a walkthrough of the relics so quickly with specific scenarios of when it's useful and why it's not. Love it and love your insights.
I think that Brawler for PvE and Antitoxin for PvP. If you run Virtues, you can get Resolution to proc after F1, F2 or F3 use. In PvP at since doesn't worth spamming your virtues just to have the 10% buff: is better to save them for when are needed. Willbender doesn't have that problem since you want to spam F1 every time is out of cooldown.
@@herzogtwo fireworks is better. your elite, your f1, greatsword 5 and longbow 5 all have a 20sec+ cooldown and you use all of them off cooldown giving you enough skills to keep the 10% up through the entire fight in pve. for pvp i'd suggest the dragonhunter relic
@@herzogtwo you're right about the elite, my bad. the f1 however does(or at least should) trigger it. either that,or it' a bug that class skills of other classes trigger the relic as well. the bug with the gs5 skill is a hassle, that is true, but similar bugs exist with the thief relic

Why did it take me so long to find your video?!! OMG you just saved me so much time
I chose my rune based on how much fun it would change my gameplay rather than being numbers oriented. On my warrior I chose Rune of The Daredevil (crit guaranteed after dodge roll) and I use it to collect enemies into a group and then smash them down. It's quite satisfying.
Fun, in my video game!, get out of here. (In all seriousness yeah i'm doing the same i'm swapping between a few and it is enjoyable)
Lord Hizen made a build for it
Thank you, I've been holding off maxing stats with runes and relics as I have no idea what to buy.
“Some classes don’t have good mobility” laughing in Willbender falling off cliffs with F1 and GS3
Laughs in warrior when someone kills the target I gs5 on.
like Daredevil falling off cliffs with Staff 2
Relic of Fireworks is amazing on a power soulbeast, which has its effect triggered on axe 5, worldly impact, frenzied strike and barrage if using a longbow. Try it out, it can do some crazy bursts.
Relic of the Weaver for power soulbeast imo
Does anyone else see the time stamps? (edit: I see the timestamps now)
Great video covering the relics, I'm sure a lot of people will find it useful.
I have a feeling that relic of Mabon can work quite well on a quickness DPS herald build because herald just passively generates so much might anyway and it has a trait that gets more power but less condi per might stack so surely that 25% increase is worth it no? Just get used to the timing of it and use your burst.
even then its only 25% of your might is the clunkiness worth it?
Thanks dude! Hopefully everything will be updated on guildjen soon, I know you all are putting in tons of work.
For the follow up video (after the inevitable tweaks and updates) please sort the order from less to more useful. Now you still need to watch the entire section to get the information you need.
regarding relic of dwayna and celestial avatar: afaik the old dwayna effect didnt affect the regen priority (same for other +mods for regen) and which regen counts depends on healing power alone
edit: quote from wiki "Only healing power affects boon prioritization; healing modifiers do not"
ahh ok good to know
Well that is very nicely done:) Thank you for your work ! I can dive into this new system effeciently. Thanks again ;)
I like Brawler on my Vindicator. I almost always run the middle last trait though. Every time I dodge/jump I'm giving myself protection.
you say relic of the deadeye isn't good because most cantrips are defensive, but what about Untamed? all there cantrips are offensive or buffs. I use them non-stop with the Deadeye relic. I am note sure how often it triggers but in my head it seems like it is a good thing.
I play power deadeye with rifle and staff and withdrawal as my heal; really nothing seems to make sense except for adventurer relic (or whatever the gain 50% endurance when using heal skill relic is.) But I don't really do fractals, so maybe the one which grants superspeed on stealth could be useful there since this build stealths a lot. idfk
I’ve tried out unseen invasion on Mirage and at the very least I will say it’s fun 😅
fireworks is perfect for tempest, currently using hammer tempest with fireworks relic, proc time for relic almost 100%
So i still have no idea what relic or rune is best for my dps condi mechanist 😪
@@datboi04 source?
The problem I have with it is even if you're stacking might constantly it'll still take 30 seconds to trigger due to the cooldown. And then you'd better be paying attention or you'll miss the window AND lose your might stacks.
Re: toughness from leadership
Every tank on toughness fixate fights should be able to run at least 1201 toughness. (For a long time, the general advice for PUGs has been to have enough toughness swaps to at least beat celestial anyway, since giver's/harriers tank + celestial offhealer is a nice composition in groups who don't want to run two full healers but aren't comfortable solohealing.)
TLDR +36 toughness from leadership is NBD, tanks should have at least 1201 toughness.
you're right and normally I wouldn't care in most situations but this is a general video, who knows what other toughness they have on top of the leadership
Wizards tower has been good for my D/Wh celestial tempest build during WvW zergs. Just pop tornado yolo in and let your Zerg do the rest
Sounds like most Power Relics are crap for Rangers. What is the best bow/greatsword relic to use for a Ranger at the moment? Doesn't need to be power.
Deadeye relic works WONDERS on my tempest air overload burst, engaging with air ol while on stone skin cantrip?? 11 stability stacks and prot, plus dagger air 3 to stun everyone on being hit? *chef's kiss*
Guardian can also get additional Healing to others based on Vitality through the Honor Traitline's Force of Will.
"Healing Increase to Others per 100 Vitality: 1%"
Tier list when? Also any relics give a combo field or finisher?
Thanks for video, but I think you haven't recommended any power relic? On thief you mentioned some else is/are better but then haven't picked any to recommend. Or have I missed something?
i recommended good options, if you want me to tell you which one to pick that depends on the build doesnt it
They need to improve the descriptions of relics and change/add some relevant ones
I was using your build : "HAMMER Dragonhunter - Guild Wars 2 WvW Guardian Build" - in wvw mode, can u tell me witch one relic will be the best for this build???
brawler
the monk relic has a few issues it only applies 1 stack for each skill that applies boons so even if I sue a skill that gives 5 boons itll only be 1 stack of the monk relics healing buff and the 3 sec duration applys to all satack so if you at 10 stacks and get stuned for 3 seconds welp time to start from the begining again, have some forced downtime back to the beginign you go \o/
these could be bugs but its the behaviour I am seeing and it feels kinda bad
Gw2 staff who designed these runes need to watch this lol.
I'm sure they have already
Idk I dont like how they approached the system. They shouldve given you relic boxes for the amount of equipment templates you have first of all. Second they shouldve made the relics you got mostly the same as what was already there. And the newer ones you should get through playing soto. So your builds were still more or less the same ans if you wanted new stuff, you are incentivised to play the new expansion.
Awesome video like always :))
For the brawler relic actually, I've been working with it using Vindicator and retribution to try and get more use out of it, but I haven't done enough testing and buildcrafting with it, so it's probably only really good for some pvp or wvw builds.
It's not free to play anymore. It's pay to play. 😢
@@darwinmabazza6314how so?
@@darwinmabazza6314 What are you talking about?
Which relic should I use with my power mech?
Damn I’m sad relic or durability is so bad. I loved using rune or durability on my spellbreaker and wildy survival soulbeast. Idek what to use now
I'd argue the new relic is about the same.
Didn't think of this application before putting it on my specter :( Honestly I didn't put together the flicker was even a shadowstep
Does it actually count on Bladesworn? I thought they made a distinction between blinks and shadowsteps?
Yup it does @@h3rpad3rpacifilis

Lyhr works with tempest auras as well while allies are at 100% health.
Just throwing that out there.
I tried the Herald relic last night on W1-4 clears. I play AlacDPS Mech so I'm constantly giving Alacrity. My Boon duration never increased more than 1% so I'm wondering if this only works if 'you're' providing the boons yourself rather than via a Mech??
Any recommendations for a berserker warrior (axe/axe & GS)?
Hmm couldn't relic of the citadel work with an engineer build if you use a tool for the ultimate, like the mortar?
Plus necros get access to terror for turning fear into a damage condi, which isn't bad in some builds.
yessss Vallun gimme the knowledge!!
Fireworks ... triggers on Shatters from Mesmer?
Doubtful. The simpler they make the partial derivatives (damage per unit stat change) the more uniform builds will get.
hi for staff condi mirage would you suggest trapper rune or still nightmare runes? nightmare runes just has +%5 more condi duration but -125 condi dmg when compared to trapper so maybe instead of %5 condi duration, 125 condi dmg would be better?
that depends, if you dont cap on condi duration it's usually better to go for that
Condition Relic should be Fractal or Ahkeem based on if you are bleed or corruption build.
My stealth dragonhunter is dead. Is there any relic for trapper runes?
I just realized I was the zerg you were fighting at 12:40.

fireworks
Ok thanks i try this one and thanks again for your guide ^^
I personally find the reaper relic quite nice with the build I'm running.
relic of ice is good on chill proc reaper, or at least usable
Is there any benefit to just running jewels now?
it would be more customizable, but i havent used those in years so i dont know the numbers
What would be the best runes and relics for a power Dragon Hunter?
dragonhunter runes and thief relic
@@Ulquiorra575 your elite and f1 don't proc firework only weapon skills and I think the relic is bugged it doesn't proc everytime with gs5 lb5

The introduction of Relics and the change to Runes has made Fury much more scarce and I can no longer supplement it from Runes anymore...that made me sad.
So far not many interesting or viable options for Relics and the cookie cutters are obvious...I wish Anet would stop making useless and redundant options...
ty for teh video Vallun!
sounds like most damage relics suck ngl pepehmm
True, I'm much more inclined to run a survival relic.
Did they remove all the 1s we had and give us nothing in return?? Sounds a bit s***, if they pulled that one!
Honestly I kind of like that relics are mediocre. It feels less like a single choice for each kind of build and more like a "pick what you like" type of thing.
That said, I believe this is unintentional, but even if it was it's not great right now. Relics are still too few and the tooltips really don't help.
