I'm trying to keep an eye on a few of mine. I have hatched queen cells but no sight of a queen or eggs. I don't think the queens are getting back from the mating flight. I ordered queens but won't be shipped till the 24th. I'll do a push in cage so the queen can lay if i have to. I may have to do some combines like you and decide later when i get the other queens what i want to do. This weather has been rough on the bees. I'm not seeing much nectar.

OkieRob yeah I have some starving hives. Big ones. I've been feeding some to get through this rainy cold spell. I found two queens this evening that I missed Tuesday. They look like they may be mated. They are still small though. We'll see in a few days. I was getting frustrated with all the queenless hives and two laying worker hives. I pulled splits Tuesday and installed four queens this evening. Posting video tonight. Now for the hive beetle battle with these new nucs.

I see u keep a duct tape record on yr hive. Lead pencil will give u a record for the life of top.

So you just write on the metal with the pencil??? And it stays through the years? The Sharpie wears off over time on the duct tape. I'm definitely interested in a better way to take notes on the hive. And thanks so much for watching and the comment.
