  • Inspection of a hive that should be ready to expand to two deeps. I found something interesting I thought I would share. Needless to say, it won't be expanding after this inspection. Instead there's a problem needing corrected or the hive will die a slow death and become overrun with hive beetles and wax moths without attention.

      Thanks Mr. CB. We're supposed to get some rain tomorrow. That's a good thing, but messes up my weekend time to get stuff done. Take care.

    Nice Update Darren. Had me going at first with all of that spotty drone brood. I sent you a message here on youtube.

      Yeah, I was sure bummed at first. Every time I've seen a frame like that it was a failed queen and/or laying workers. In hindsight, that comb had bigger holes, so it was drone comb vs worker comb.

    Well, this is a bummer. You're having a rough go of it this year! WAIT! YAY! A skinny queen is better than no queen! Whew! I was getting worried for you! Thanks for sharing!

    Jerome what kind of oil do you use in your beetle traps?

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  5 років тому

      Mann Lake beetle trap oil. You can probably mix it up yourself if you google the ingredients. I’m thinking it’s vegetable oil and apple cider vinegar. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Just curious if you have a recipe for bee pollen sub other than a branded pollen sub? If so please share your recipe! Thanks, as always love your videos and congratulations on the new House/Home! 👍😊

    Easy on the smoke. I also prefer not to bang woodenware or Anything else for that matter on the colony. Stresses them out.

      Hey Dave. HaHa, yeah, that was last year and I had a really rank hive so I got a little smoke happy there for awhile. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Too much smoke

      My bees are more aggressive than most folks. They need a little more to stay out of my face. Hive #10 doesn't care smoke or not.

    a drone layer? the only male animals i know of that give birth are male sea horses. outside of this comment, if you honestly think that drones could be laying eggs i have 10 acres of prime fertile land at the top of the ice cap for sale.

    • @JeromeBeeFarm

      I didn’t say a laying drone now did I. A drone layer is a failing queen that lays only drones. Been speaking English long Mr Snarky?
