Poem to London: The Gucci Cruise 2017 Fashion Show

Held in one of London's most historical landmarks, The Cloisters in Westminster Abbey, the Cruise 2017 collection was Alessandro Michele’s ode to British culture and aesthetics. Rich in detail, embroidery and color the collection featured flowers from English gardens on a diaphanous silk chiffon dress and on top handle bags; King Charles Spaniels on skirts and plush coats, and the Union Jack in knits and loafers.
“I love the English aesthetic; I feel it is close to my own language. The collection is like a little poem to London. I have tried to put into it some of the pieces in my heart when I think about London: Victorian, schoolboy, crazy young noble guys and some romantic punk,” Alessandro Michele.

Definitely not a conventional collection, we can say that!
This collection as the tittle says(and the previous ones) is total poetic, you have to go between the lines with Alessandro Michele, you have to get the history behind to understand. About the styling, you have to get the pieces separately to se how beautiful this is, but also he suggest that you can wear them the way you want. It's all about the poetic freedom

A poem to London indeed! What a spectacular collection that masterfully incorporates all of the tropes of British fashion-the Victorian primness, the Edwardian tailoring, Saville Row, the Indian sari fabrics and Maharajah designs, short skirts of the Swinging Sixties, punk cheekiness, and there’s even Harry Potter thrown in the mix! What more, these clothes are not cliches of British fashion, but rather a celebration of it. Bravo!
