The guy in this video is a really good teacher. Easy to learn. Straight forward. Instant results. You should make full on deep dive tutorials. Really good at this.
I recently completed this fantastic online course (yes, I went through all episodes over one week during my holiday), and it exceeded expectations. The course was exceptionally well-developed, with each lesson carefully structured to build upon the previous one. The pace was perfect-neither too fast nor too slow-allowing me to absorb the intricate details of this powerful VST without feeling overwhelmed. One of the standout aspects of the course was how it demystified the complexities of Pigments, making it approachable even for those, like me, who are initially intimidated by its vast array of features. By the course's end, I became remarkably familiar with Pigments. This course also made me appreciate how user-friendly Pigments 5 is compared to other VSTs, especially the modulation with dragging and dropping connections. After this course, I also feel more comfortable using hardware like the Waldorf Iridium, which requires more menu diving. So, thank you to Jon Audio for investing an incredible amount of time designing and recording this course. I hope Arturia is paying attention to your talent, which is at par with or exceeds that of Venus Theory.
thank you so much for your feedback, it truly made my day reading your comment! Thats awesome to hear youre getting a good grip on pigments, its a really great synthesizer!!
YESSSSS! Updating now. Gotta say, when you started routing Pigments through Pigments I legit started saying out loud "Yo, I heard you like Pigments..." and then you did it and OMG did I laugh. Royally pissed off my cat, have a few new scratches on my legs, but totally worth it.
I recently bought Pigments, but hadn't given it much time yet, due to (where we probably all suffer from) lack of time. This was a very clearly laid out overview and easy to follow. Love the pace: not to slow, not to fast. Just perfect. You've got another subscriber to your channel.
I've wanted the Pigments FX and Sequencer as standalones for so long, having the audio routing option is a nice workaround that I will happily take! And the Sequencer lock and post FX send has been much needed as well! What a great update.
Great update overview, Jon. Love this synth. It was the first synth I bought when beginning my post-retirement music exploration, and I have enjoyed its (free) evolution since then. Also loving VPS Avenger (thanks for that deep dive series, BTW).
That's awesome to hear!! Youre very welcome for the avenger course!! There are many more parts to come and we really dive into the synth. It's very powerful!
Commenting again, because I got to the audio routing part. Love this idea, can now use pigments as an fx rack! What would take it to the next level for me would be if you could keytrack the incoming audio just like you can with a sample

Oh wow, how exciting! It really looks great. The sequencer updates especially. What a nice update. Can't wait to try it. Thanks for the great video Jon.
Very cool! Been a Pigments fan for a while and great to see these updates. Happy they are doing more with the sequencer, as I've always thought it could be much better. Don't stop there! 💞
One more: it sounds like they've upgrade the sound engine. When you were scrolling through those new wavetables, they sounded way more intense and huge. so did the disrorted Sinewave even before the Post FX Plus that audio routing is so DOPE! I'll finally be able to add vocal samples with out needing to make it be all gross chopped/sampled sounding
Yeah, do it! This might make me very well fall back in love with Pigments again. It was the first softsynth I actually bought deliberately vs. Using ones collections in like Komplete. I had no clue what any of those guys were at the time. So Pigments is my origin story.
Dude these new presets are godly! And yeah, I am truly convinced the upgraded the sound engine. I can hear and FEEL the subass patches now. This was never the case on my 3.5" speakers with Pigments before@@jonaudio
You’re telling me I can plug my guitar STRAIGHT INTO PIGMENTS? Fucking awesome. I don’t even know what I’ll do with it, but god damn if I won’t spend hours fucking around until i find something.
Thanks Jon! The "audio in" feature has been on my Pigments wish list for quite a while; but I was certain Arturia would charge for it. Kudos to them for the free upgrade with this awesome feature! If you or anyone else knows how to get this feature working in Reaper, please let me know. In Pigments I see the meter is showing audio in, but there is no audio in Reaper. I'm pretty new to Reaper, and the routing is still a bit of a mystery to me. Thanks in advance!
If you see the audio coming into pigments you also have to send midi to pigments to open pigments Amp envelope to hear the sound. Let me know if that works for you
Thank you for your Pigments content. Forgive me for the noob Q: One thing I don't seem to have much variety of in preset form is "plucks". I never found where I can source them. I suppose I'm thinking of melodic percussive plucks, organ plucks, tropical sounding ones. Like kygo, charlie puth use, or that you hear in many pop songs in the charts. Might you consider a future video showing how you can make your own variety of different plucks using Pigments? Either way, ty for all the Pigments content. Loads to get on with really! 👍
You're very welcome! And yeah that would be some fun patchrs to make. A great starting point for plucks is using a square wave and adjust the pulse width to taste, or even modulate it a bit. Drop the cutoff pretty low with a low pass filter and use a fast envelope to modulate it. From there, you can experiment with different wave forms, expand to wavetables and so on.
I know that feeling all too well. I haven't noticed any compatibility issues so far. I went through a lot of patches I made with 4 and they all seem to work just fine
