I just tied it without a mandrel around my finger. After a few frustrating tries I finally got it right. Nice knot. I used it as a decorative knot behind my whistle on my whistle cord.
This knot is found in Ashley Book of.Knots #792, it is called a foot rope knot. However, your method of tying it makes it convenient by forming it on your finger adjacent to a zipper toung. Thanks for sharing.
Flipping and twisting the fking stick does nothing but get people lost. I STILL can't follow what the hell he is doing. Under ober under ober twist twist START ALL FREAKING OVER. I am very good at knots when shown properly. This one? Nah, I'll find another knot to do what I want
I finally got it Mark... After all this time... I've done like 25 or so and on one side it was perfect but on the other side something was wrong... and I couldn't figure out what... So today after making some stubby needles for those really short pieces of scrap paracord... I watched this video again.. and then I saw it... at 1:44... you went under just 1 cord and I was going under 2... After making this knot again it finally came out correctly... Persistence is what it took... Thanks Marko for a great video... Kenn
Nice knot. All of your other turks heads and gauchos are quite easy to follow and very easy to tie. This video is very fast and doesn't show very well which cords go under and over
Mark, This is harder than I first thought... I'm not seeing clearly at around 2:08... I've tried to do this one 20 times already... I must be a total dunce... LOL... I'll keep at it... Kenn
I'm gonna give this knot a try, and I've seen your work on You Tube. If this confounds you, I may be in for trouble... LOL. Loved your pineapple knot lanyard tutorial BTW.
Took about 10 tries, but I finally tied the knot. I found that you really have to pay attention to the sequences starting about 1:50. If those over/unders are done right the knot comes together nicely. Well done Mark, thank you for this!
Everyone who's having trouble here's something you can try: 1. Take it slow. 2. Mute the video. 3. Pause often, especially- no, in particularly, when you can see the knot, and not when he's covering it with his hands, which is most of the video.
I have watched this about 10 times so far... I can see what you are doing, but the confusion seems to come in for me as you start to work the cords back down the Mandrel after doing the first pass... the Working end of the 1st Cord is left loose and swaps backwards and forwards when you turn the Mandrel to the point I lose track of where it should lie in the knot so that as you start the "under 2 - Over 2" section I can't see which 2 you are going under and have no idea where the working end of the first pass is supposed to lie... which then throws out it's sequence of "Under 2 - Over 2" I have even tried to follow the moves of the Mandrel exactly and repeat what I see of the loose working end moving moving backwards and forwards but I just cannot make it work... I have tried different Mandrels - a thin-ish pen and then a Maglight... which seems about as thick as your piece of wood... no luck with it...

Playback at half speed worked wonders great...thanks
“This is a very simple gaucho knot”..
Everyone after 47 attempts:....AAAAAAGH WHY CAN’T I DO THIS?!”

Hey there!
I am glad you were able to tie it. Indeed, persistence is the mark of a good braider.
Keep up the good work!
Mark
Simple and pretty knot, thank you :-)
I'm really liking this one Marko well done great tutorial
Nice knot, as always.
very nice, Mark
it looks nicer than a lanyard knot
Thanks Marko. I'll try this as a core knot.

Hey!
UA-cam has a function that slows down the tying process. It should help a bit.
Mark

Thank you for the comment Ken!
At that point both of the cords travel from right to left with an under two-over two sequence.
Hope that helps!
Mark

is his diagram correct clearly its an over under sequence going under 2 it doesn't turn out for me
Really neat !!
Is this knot different from the diamond knot of two strands?
I do believe this is the over 2 under 2 foot rope knot.
This is one l'll use.

Nice if him to reply 🤣
Yeah he kind of skips some key pieces of info
It looks so simple but I can't do it! What do you use for a mandrel - are there sets of them?
Newbie here having a hard time every time the dowel flips maybe a red and blue tape on each end of cord to follow easier for future vids
Defies me time after time after time... The front side is normal, the other is a mess...
😻 lindo!!!
Obrigada 😍
This is the same knot as ABOK 792, but tied by a more difficult methods.
LEADS TO ALCHOLISIM!: )
I laughed harder than I should on this comment right now...
4th time, I haven’t got it yet
Cool
Can't even tell you how many times I have screwed this knot up! It's quite frustrating
Yeah it might have something to do with the instructor.
I’m sorry but you need a better system of explaining this. As soon as you twist and turn it it’s pretty much game over. Try color coding
I agree, two colors would help a lot.

U lost me going under two over two..I only have under 2 over 1....
Very confusing and difficult to follow. Failed after multiple attempts.
try it at half speed
Ты ужасно учишь! Очень быстро и мало понятно!
