I got the chance to play some of Atelier Ryza early, so here are some thoughts and feelings!

"her chubby, chubby cheeks"
That is one way to put it.
LC1991 she thicc
The most adorable way.
My experience with the Atelier series (Sophie) so far:
1st hour: "how can i craft this basic potion?"
100 hours in: "how can i mass produce the philosopher's stone?"
can't wait for this entry~
You of all homunculus would know how to mass produce the philosopher stone, envy
**Murders the economy by flooding the market**
Now I need to go back and play Atelier Sophie.
@@PsychoCrusher46 I'm currently playing Atelier Sophie for the first time. I already beaten Firis, Lydie and Suelle. I really want to get Ryza soon as possible.
@@RealSpaceChild are those ones good? Sophie is my first one.
The more I learn about this game, the more I love it. Please inject this game directly into my soul
She got me when she said chubby Chubby cheeks. And alchemy. Because i love mixing stuff and making it blow up.
dude literally a lot of people say the same thing u are saying, so original
@@screwthis9917 someone is mad
This series is like a slice-of-life anime made into a game. It makes me feel relaxed and peaceful just watching it, like when I watched Amanchu!
Amanchu?
I really need this game then.
Cute girls doing alchemy?
Sold.
You released this a few minutes before I woke up. What a way to start the day, thanks.
Her chubby, chubby "cheeks."
Interesting way to pronounce "thighs." Valkyrie Aurora.
lol
People have more than one pair of cheeks ;)
@@MeMoshRocks
"All I wanna see is some cheeks...and I ain't talkin' bout faces."
@@yakumoyomi5765 but i am.
In other word, THICC.
Rhyza has a cute star necklace.
ValkyrieAurora: "A lot of people from all across the globe fell in love with her chubby, chubby, cheeks!"
Me: "... Oh! I'm sorry, did you just say something? I was just... admiring the view of the hills and valleys."
So this is the girl that has been flooding r/thighdeology...
ok that sub is real interesting
@@hao2000ki there's a little something for everyone out there on the worldwide web
@Anonymous Say, by design they insulted 5% of a potential playerbase, you know the usual suspects. While simultaneously gaining a 500% interest on all other fronts, actual number of new players baited is even higher. Also much thanks to the loud mouthed 5% :)
@@MalhaIIa That 500% included me. I've heard about the series before, but didn't look too far into it but when I heard Atelier I remembered "Isn't that the game that's about alchemy?" Looked at the artwork and said "Take my money." for both the obvious reason and the actual artwork and visuals that are also attention getters. XD
I'm happy someone came up with the term thighdeology.
I'm also in the camp that knew of the games but wasn't really super interested but am ashamed to admit the thicc did the trick to get my attention.
Will I buy it for that reason alone? No. Has it got me looking to see if the story, characters, and mechanics would hold my interest? Yes. Yes I am.
5:08 Sophie's laugh gives me life
Oh man... That's a pure laugh.
Your delight delights me.
Thank you so much for creating.
IIRC in one of the earlier Atelier games they wanted to give the protag a more sensible costume but the mostly-female focus group said to make her outfit cuter and show more skin.
It makes me so happy that a big You Tuber like you actually talk about a series like Atelier ❤️❤️ getting this day 1
There's something distracting about the main character, but I cant quite get what....
Her cute smile!
Her cool hat!

Thank you, Sophie. It was on my radar for a while, but your video convinced me to pre-order it.
I watched all of your Atelier videos. it's very useful for me who never play any series and still decide where to start. thank you for sharing all reviews.
Ryza's "horse-ear" bow is the cutest thing to exist.
Waited so long to hear your thoughts on this game, so happy!
Super glad I found your channel. You talk about games I probably would have never heard of. The information you bring with each video review is so concise and does indeed make me want to check out the games. I also really enjoy your ventures! If it weren't for you and super butter buns, I never would have known about nier automata, or the fact that its connected to drakengard! A game I played so damn much, SO damn much! I managed to get all the endings, minus the one that needed all the weapons, that was a nightmare. Lol. Nonetheless, I thank you for your work, keep it up, you've got a fan in me. :)
I'm sold! I've been wanting to get into this series for a while and when I found out there's a new one I had to look up a review.
All I really need to know is does the game still make the characters say “Barrel!” whenever you interact with a barrel. But it’s an Atelier game so I’m sure it’s in there somewhere
Yes, it does.
Barrel.
It’s my first game of the series, and yes, it does say that. Even without me knowing it being a reference was fun for some reason lol.
I'm in the brainspace to marathon all the videos you've released recently! Love you 💞
I have play all 21 game and I was proud of it
Even, if i don't know anything about game, seen it for the first time, like in this case and don't eager to play it after first glance, wich is never was true on this channel, i always staying and watching with deeply curiosity and pleasure to the very end, all your first impressions, it's really impresses me, how you do that. Your way of telling. Give me feels like, it's something greatly precious and enchanting to be experienced. I love these unique feelings and want to have them as many times, as i can. Thanks to you it's really happening.
Oh how can i be so grossly incandescent. Just wanna praise the sun, as i praise you Sophie, thank you.
One thing that really has me interested in this game is how items have charges. I'm the type of gamer who hordes consumable items and ends up never using them.
I would horde in a different way. Build up my max stock and only use what I felt I could easily recover.
I'm always in for a new atelier game great vid
It’s all thanks to Ryza and your Channel ofc that I discovered Atelier series
And now it’s my favorite Series because of how heartwarming the whole franchise is
I love heartwarming stuffs
Honestly you could sell me anything with your voice alone. I'm sold on Ryza, and in turn I'd like recommend Rune Factory 4 (if you haven't already played it). Like most Rune Factory games, you aren't expected to play the previous titles to understand everything, but you are rewarded with mini easter eggs here and there if you have. So don't be afraid to jump into it! Rune Factory 4 is on 3DS, but in case you don't own one, an HD version was announced to be Switch sometime in the (hopefully near) future. With Rune Factory 5 finally being announced to be in the making, RF4 is a good place to jump into this series I love so much!
Your voice is just so nice to listen to. It would be wonderful to see you do full length LP series.
*SLAMS DESK*
WE NEED A SUPER CUT OF VALKURIES LAUGH. PLEASE AND THANK YOU
But Sir I thought we were still under orders to protect Valkuries laugh not spread to those internet dog's!!! It's too free and majestic!
I must advise against this!!
Is that a disgaea refrence I spy
I think the controversy about Ryza's designed only served to bring more attention to the game. I didn't even know about it until then, which then led to me looking into the kind of gameplay it was going to have. This video solidifies my decision to buy it come the end of October.
Was there any controversy? I only remember unclimbable mountains of fanarts and porn.
Yeah, for sure. I've dabbled with the series in the past but never really loved any of the few I've tried. Ryza's visual design really did make me take a second look at this one, though, and I've been into it ever since. Beyond Ryza's design, what has really appealed to me is the bigger focus on adventuring and story with the new combat system. So, yeah, Ryza's design was what caught my eye but it really was what was beyond it that has made me excited to actually play.
@@Knoloaify the tights. That's really it. But, yknow, gamers.
@@Knoloaify I would not call this a controversy. The only people complaining about Ryza design are members from ResetEra. And nobody should take these prudish ideologues seriously.
Yeah, who the fuck goes on Resetera and ACTUALLY listens to them?
wow! the first day i sub for atelier stuff, you upload your first impressions for ryza!! though im saving up for atelier lulua rn, you can bet youve inspired me to put ryza on my christmas list!!~
Can't wait to play this!
I've known of the Atelier Games for a while now ever since the first entries started getting featured in Steam. However, despite their charming art I never found the motivation to get one especially since trying to figure out which games were in which series was initially confusing.
Then Ryza comes in, being the first of its particular series, and being EXTRA THICC, and it's already got my preorder. The 29th just needs to get here faster :)
Doesn't hurt that she's an adventuress and go getter, but yeah even I got shook by this girl's figure.
Though I think my favorite videos on this channel are the Ventures, but I also love seeing the reviews for lesser known games like this, great job Sophie
Oh dang for a second I thought this had already come out. It's surprising how much more coverage I've seen leading up to this than previous Atelier games. Really excited to check it out!
Your voice is so comforting!
I've been looking for a good entry point into this series after seeing your enthusiasm for it. I'll have to pick this up when I have the funds.
I really like your videos, your english, your voice and the positive and pleasant perspective that you have, very relaxing, me myself have never played an Atelier game , but will definitely check this one out as a big JRPG fan. Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for posting preview . Looking forward to your review
Idk why I'm just now discovering your channel Miss Valkyrie but you've got a new subscriber! Absolutely loving the humor and content, keep up the awesome work! :D
Omg, Sophie! Your laugh at 5:07. It's too pure!
I was lowkey waiting for this after I watched your previous video 😋
Love your videos as always, I stared watching your channel with the video "an introduction to atelier" so in my mind you are kinda like my go to person for atelier videos. I can wait to play Ryza, I have played and enjoy every single game on this series that has come out for PC so far, and by the way I'm very exited for the dusk trilogy next year! Finally, I would be able to experience the "best" trilogy.
Its super cool that Gust is giving you codes for new atelier games!
Thank you for the video Sophie. Been seeing this game a lot on Twitter, and it looks interesting

Akihabara had her chubby chubby cheeks everywhere along with some fanarts...
Yes i did buy it.
Got it preordered. I’m excited to finally check out a game in this series.
I wanted to say thank you, you got me into atelier, and I got the dusk games, so thank you
Already pre-ordered the game (and the figure) but it was still nice to see this! Looking great so far, and I'm already loving Ryza based on that early dialogue.
your voice is so calming and soothing. I love it
I actually have it pre ordered because of your intro to atlier videos, they didn't really seem up my alley but seeing how passionate you are for Nier/Drakengard and Atlier, I figured I'd give it a shot
Another amazing gremilin valkirie video
This is my first game from this series and I have to say I'm hooked, it's just a good game to sit down and relax with. It also has me interested in trying the older games as well.
i own a few Atelier games but have not played any of them because i was intimidated, but this looks like it might be more my speed and a good starting off point to get into the series, i'll check it out! Thanks Val!
Awesome review & preview thanks for the share & look forward to more love your channel
So, this is my first Atelier game I've ever played, but seriously, the island aspect made it so much more lovable.
I have been living on a small island teaching English in Japan for the past 4 years. How small you ask? 700 people on the island in total.
Of course the game play, the combat, the alchemy, and the story are on its own excellent; however, the relatability of this game to my current situation has made it such a special and important game to me.
I hope this game continues to be successful and reach as many people as possible!
Bruh, I heard nothing about this game when it was coming out and only now.... im glad I found this channel/video
I'm really excited for this game
That's so cuuuute!♡
I'm a new subscriber btw :3
I really like your videos, I only watched a few of them ^^'
Really excited to pick this up as my first actual Atelier title since Sophie. Can't wait to give it a try
"Her chubby, chubby,.. cheeks!"
That statement isn't incorrect.
Definitely gonna pick this up when it comes out, great video Sophie! How was the performance on the switch? Any issues?
I am very interested in this atelier game only for Ryza, but have no idea there was a bunch of games of this franchise, but thanks to you i feel more comfortable to jump and fall in Atelier series with this game, thank you so much.
Thanks for this,i've been wanting to jump into the series but had no idea where to jump in.Definitely will pick it up (after Trails of Cold Steel 3-i've been dying to play this game lol)
Found your channel through your AMAZING explanation of DG and Nier and I think I've binged like 20-30 vids so far! I was curious if you could have a go at Touhou seeing as you like games with convoluted storylines. Subbed!
I recieved my Switch copy from NIS today! I love the series thanks for the video.
Im new here. This youtuber has a really nice unique voice. And looking at her other videos, turns out shes does videos on mostly japanese games. Right up my alley. Insta subscribed.
i know what I will be playing over the holidays on the switch :3
I got the Atelier trilogies for Arland and Dusk on the Switch and it is indeed the coziest you could possibly get.
I know about the game after your initial introduction review to all the Atelier series in previous video. Honestly haven't got the guts to try it since the franchise is really huge and Im late to console games. Thanks again for this wonderful review. Happy gaming
While the franchise is huge most of the games are separated into trilogies disconnected from the others in the series. Other than Barrel and Pamela, which are mostly easter eggs, there aren't any world or story connections between say the Mysterious Trilogy and the Dusk Trilogy.
Cold Steel 3 and this are going to consume my life for the next month or so starting tomorrow o-o I can't wait
I just finished watching your Atelier Introduction video and this 1. I decided that I’m buying Ryza and if I like it I’m definitely gonna try the previous entries. Need more switch games lol
"CHEEKS" 😏
Ryza is going to be my first game in the series and I cannot wait to dive into it. It looks so fun and gorgeous.
I've been interested in the atelier series for awhile, I think I may hop in real soon with either this or lydie and suelle
"Ryza has a longing for *bigger* adventures" lol @ the camera pan. @2:45
So hyped for Ryza, but I need to wait till November as that's when it'll be released where I live if I want a physical copy. I could import but I didn't do that as sometimes shipping costs can go through the roof.
After playing this it really got me interested in playing the other ones
this game is amazing i love it!
I picked this game up a few days ago and have been too busy to play more than an hour but, Im looking forward to jumping back in today :)
Now I'm more interested. Depending on how's my budget on my winter vacations I may buy this game, since I also want to buy other games.
Really Loved atelier series 😘
This is my first Atelier game and it's amazing. The pacing is really relaxing and the characters are charming.
Ah. I see it is time to go pretend I am a scientist again.
Mang, i was already gonna get it. Always been a fan of these games and the character designs for this one immediately got me asking "PRE ORDERS DUCKING WHEN"
Man 2 main line atelier games 7 months between each other is wild. Thanks koei
Yes, i waited for this Video
will get this before lulua
Interesting. You convinced me to give this series a go. One of the few JRPG series I haven't dived into.
thanks for the vid xD btw what do u think about the graphic on switch?
As a fan of the atelier series I'm super hyped to get this game
Thank you for the great preview, can you tell us if it has a time limit like rorona or was it removed like lulua? As a beginner, lulua’s lack of time limit let me relax and focus on exploration rather than trying to optimize my time.
I love that you are pretty much completely different people in different videos, it's hard to believe some videos on this channel is made by the same person that said "I want you to pull my spine right out of my rectum like you're revving up a fucking beyblade", which to this day, remains the best sentence that anyone on the planet has ever spoken
I've been meaning to get into the Atelier series for a few years now but for some reason i just never did, guess now is the perfect time to jump in i guess!
Atelier Ayesha had my favorite combat system and Mana Khemia was my favorite alchemy system. Mana Khemia also had my favorite voice acting and music too. I still quote it and listen to soundtrack while cooking and cleaning. Actually I might just replay it again now that I'm remembering how much I adore that game.
Finally! A normal female giving a honest hands on impression! thanks for the feedback, definitely picking it up on PC.
DAMN THAT GRIL T H I C C
This is the 1st video I've seen from you, good job, but what is that song at the end? ❤
Yeah but Sophie I have one question...
*Why would you want to play a game that feels like summer in the middle of glorious fall?*
based fall chad
Fall is underrated
That smell that comes right before Halloween is one that can't be replicated.
To fight of seasonal depression I suppose.
I would like fall if we could skip winter. Till that happens I look forward to "fake summer" lol.
