  • This time we attempt to brew a MASSIVE Imperial Christmas Stout in the Brewzilla 35. Using a technique called a reiterated mash. The basic idea is that you perform multiple mashes, using the wort created in the previous mash as the brewing liquor for the next. This enables you to use a much larger grain bill than the equipment could normally manage. We aim for a SG of around 1.100 for an ABV of approx 12-13%

Great video! Would you be willing to share the recipe you used so I can give it a go? I do dearly love imperial stouts.

Plenty of recipes out there, try Brewfather. I'm sure there's better ones than ours. Top tip. Brew a stout and add a kilo of rum soaked raisins at the end.

I managed a 9kg batch using slight less water but it was very close to the lifting holes at the top gen4. Could be slightly higher though

Hi how many litres did you sparge on first mash? And then on second mash?

I can't remember the detail, but you sparge enough to return to the original mash volume, so probably about 4 litres, and the second mash you sparge to reach your desired pre boil volume.
