Well I am a Californian so this incomplete list should count for something: Stein, O’Neill, Strachan managed Celtic. Did Robertson assist O’Neill? Sounes managed Rangers.
Paul Samoni good shout. Jimmy Nichol was assistant manager at Rangers, often overlooked. You’ll kick yourself with the other Celtic manager, King Kenny!
Never got why Scotland didn't wear dark blue shorts and why N.Ireland had to wear an altered strip at home. Custom has always been the visiting team wears a changed strip if needed and both teams usually had white shorts....
Tavy@ those were the days. When football was football. George best was fit enough to play in that world cup in 1982. Well that year there in 1981 sure he scored hes best ever goal and thats saying something. In the states against great players at that time. It was the best goal any one had ever seen at that time. There was a player who played in the english leauge and a couple of peru internationals who were brilliant and a few others. Hes body looked as if it was double jointed all over the place. The way he turn and dummied and swerved and fients and draw backs. Then he finaly scored. Lol. R.i.p george
David Dalziel Archiegoal he was known at at Barca. He never really did it for Scotland, always seemed to get the ball with his back to goal 35 yards out, but at club level he banged them in. Him and Garth Crooks at Spurs were quite a double act. But enough of their Karaoke routine!
DC Carroll He was superb at Aberdeen which got him his move to Spurs then Barca . Sadly maybe the level of players in the Scotland squads weren’t those of Barca and the good Spurs teams and he suffered in trying to do it all by dropping deep and then going forward to where he should have been . Souness and to a lesser extent Dalglish had the same problem-they were playing in outstanding teams with quick thinking players who knew where to be /run and that’s difficult to replicate in an international team . What I would give to have them available now though .
I know. He had a great club career playing for the likes of Spurs and even Barcelona, but he only scored 4 goals for Scotland and never really got going for them at all.
@@daviddalziel884 I think you’re being unkind to the players scotland had at their disposal back then . Full of players playing for top English clubs ,not lower EPL and championship teams like nowadays . Also players from the emerging Aberdeen side that beat Real Madrid in 1983 in ECWC Final. Just one of those things that he couldn’t turn club firm into performances for the national team . He’s not the first
must admit scotland had some great players then[ this is real football[ premiership means nothing to me any more
Couldn't agree more. Too many foreigners keeping our kids out . Too much cheating too
