    Love the fact that at 7:40 you 'walked with the camera like this', and the result after 'adding warp stabilisation effect in post' is turning an indoor shot into an outdoor shot!!! :D :D :D

      Good Day Rodrigo,
      I will have to agree with you, and say that it is certainly welcomed and beats all those that come on the 'youtube' site only to swear, curse, and act vulgar, just to get their rocks off!! Yes Andyax is cheerfully entertaining, and a well needed change.
      Have a wonderful day and
      GOD Bless you!!!

    Maybe already been mentioned but this lens require a matte box for ND filters since, due to construction, it lacks filter threads. As seen in video, Andyax got flicker from a light source because he couldn't stop at 180 degrees (1/50) @ 25p or similar in a 50Hz power network.
    Also, since you can't get correct motion blur, be prepared to get choppy movies.
    So, think twice before getting this lens for video. There's a 10mm as well as a 16mm.

    I've got the Nikon mount and couldn't be happier. It's sharper than ANY other lens on the market in the 14-16mm range. However, it does distort more than other wide angles but this is easily fixed by the click of a button. I'd take sharpness over distortion anyday. It's a steal, buy one!

      I understand that a speedbooster allows you to have a faster shutter speed, but isn't that a secondary effect from the device altering the aperture size? Shouldn't it be called "aperturebooster" or something similar? I might be completely wrong though, I'm just learning this stuff.

      what is the difference between 14mm f2.8 non AE and AE lens? After doin some research it said that non AE lens the camera cant adjust the f-stop while AE lens can change the f-stop. Is there any difference? since the price tag is very huge.

    Really great video, but remember when recording 4k on the GH4, it crops the image 2.3 times, becaurse it doesn't take the entire sensors view and down-scaling, it just takes a 4k image straight out of the 16mp sensor. If you understand. Its a 1:1 pixel ratio

    Since I just started out with budget with a Panasonic G6 camera without a speedbooster, my solution to wide angle is the Rokinon 12mm f2.0 which gives me 24mm(35mm equilvalent) of field.

    If anyone could answer this question it'd be much appreciated. I'm going to be starting youtube soon, currently I'm saving up for the 5d mark ii, a big part of that is the fact it was such an important camera when it comes to video. I want a camera that can handle low light when used with a good lens, I plan to use it in all weather, freezing cold, snow, rain, etc. I plan to get the 14mm for either the 5d or G7. But currently I can't decide between the 2 cameras. I also plan to do some photography in all weather, and a good amount at night.

    • @BenFleay
      @BenFleay 7 років тому

      Mr Hipster Josh but hopefully you don't want anything slow motion because the 5d doesn't shoot 60fps in hd

    • @urbanfarmermelbourne-foodf9278
      @urbanfarmermelbourne-foodf9278 7 років тому

      I've got a 5d mk3 and it's good for filming other subjects but not great at all doing selfie videos such as vlogs. You will want to get yourself a monitor of some description because screen at the back does not articulate. Therefore if you are doing shots from some height above your head or below your knees it's hard to gauge what you are shooting. It's heavy especially if you put some heavy lens on as well. Slow motion is basically non existent, however it does shoot RAW with help of magic lantern. if you need one or two shots in raw, it is perfect! I use G7X point and shoot for my channel, and use canon 5dmk3 for secondary shots (b roll) and it works like a treat. Also shot some short films with it and the image quality is absolutely fantastic. It really just depends what you want to use it for.
      Final Project Quality = 50% Camera&Lens + 50%Post Processing
      If you are starting out, consider getting a lower end camera, and a two to three day course in editing, colour grading etc.
      Good luck!
      P.s. I don't have G7 so can't comment on that. :-)

  • @Lucaemar
    @Lucaemar 8 років тому

    Nice vid! Regarding the focus ring - there's a T3.1 / cine version of this lens with same optics but a geared focus and aperture ring, that might suit a videographer better. As for stills, the long focus throw is not a downside because it helps to focus accurately and when shooting e.g. landscapes you've got enough time to focus

    All Samyang f/2.8 14mm lenses needs focus calibration. I do not know why they make them like that. The actual infinite focus does not matches the end of the focus ring, and it is somewhere between 2 and 3 m if you want sharpest image.

    Hej. Siden du er nordmand, vælger jeg at skrive på dansk istedet for engelsk. :) Jeg undrer mig over hvorfor du valgte fotoversionen (14mm f/2.8) og ikke cine versionen (14mm t/3.1)? Var det et bevidst valg?
    Hvis jeg ikke tager fejl, så er de kun mekanisk forskellige. Cine versionen har bedre fokusring og aperture ringen er "de-clicked", så man kan kontinuert ændre aperture mens man filmer.

  • @urbanfarmermelbourne-foodf9278

    That's great Andy. It's definitely a good lens for the price. Even though it's not as good as the canon but it is more or less 1/4 of the price. What I usually go for is that if it does 80% of the job for 20% of the price, then that's a good deal. :)

    Andyax you are the man! New favorite youtube channel by far; was wondering your honest opinion I have a T3i and 50mm 1.8 will possibly upgrade camera in the future. I bought a Glidecam and am thinking that the 14mm would be great. But I cannot make up my mind if its the right choice or if I should get something like a 18-35mm or 10-22mm other than the 14mm that gives me range. Just wanted to have your opinion as I feel many people have when starting out buying lenses. Thanks for your time and expertise.

    Anders (or anyone with experience), I have a similar camera setup as you, mainly with the GH4 and speedbooster, and I've noticed that the GH4 doesn't seem to show a reading for F number when the speedbooster is being used, with any lens. Hi Andy.. As usual your videos are awesome and informative. Thanks for making these videos.
    I have a question and i'd be glad if you can answer this.
    Is there a way to use ND filter on this lens so as to be able to shoot on f2.8 and maintain field of depth in bright light?
    Also, how do you maintain the field of depth in videos in this lens given you are shooting on 1/50th shutter speed at 24fps or 1/60 for 30fps.. And so on.?
