When I started driving for Coke in 07 we had several 94/95 Ford Aeromax’s, 92 White/GMC Volvo’s, and even some GMC Brigadier’s! Ours were all 7 speed and had Cummins 250 and Cat engines. We’re using Freightliner Cascadia’s with Detroit power now and it’s crazy thinking back to that old rickety stuff we had back in the day!

As long as there is no holes in the block, it’s worth saving. Gotta keep those old engines going, even if they need a rebuild.

Instead of batteries get a diesel powered DC arc welder for power. Use a meter to set 12 or 24 volts. Maybe 48 volts if your feeling frisky

I'm probably a little biased since I worked for Caterpillar, but Cat has the best sounding engines. Spent nearly 20 years in the plant that built motor graders, wheel tractor scrapers, and 35 to 400 ton haul trucks, and always grinned when they fired off for the first time. 😃
The 3406B, back in the day was darn good engine for us. That Red top Cummins was pure disaster 😖
I click like before I have even watched your video, as you Hank and Wiley are UA-cam TV stars to me. Fun, knowledge, dodgy battery cables and these Alabama treasure-havens with old truck, rigs, diesel equipment etc. It is an enjoyment for me to watch your vids and the shorties on facebook also. Never get any work done around my place anymore. Keep up the great video's.

3406B Cat Engines was his choice of Engine with either 8LL or 9513 Road ranger transmissions . Double framed, wet kits & 46K Rockwell rears . Those ole 3406B Cats would scream coming.out of the dirt pit loaded . 😁. . Mack
That 3406 cat just because it is stuck it can still be rebuilt and be a good engine. I put about 3 million miles on one, of course it was rebuilt a few times but it was a strong engine. It started out an A model and we changed it to a B model and I got tired trucking and sold it and it was still going strong. Oh and that injector pump to rebuild it is kinda like rebuilding a small engine, I know because I did it myself at around 2 million miles. I like watching you guys though keep up the good work.
Im a cat man myself but the cat motors are not known for mpg
.they burn more fuel than the other two but they pull better too. Cummins is a good motor but if you dont stand on it throttle all the time they will get pretty decent mpg. I dont particularly like detroit motors but they jave come a long way in the last 25 years

I could not see Elvis the wife will say I am having a man's look. 000 is the emergency number in Australia 🇦🇺. The price of diesel back then was cheep I paid $2.30 a litre yesterday. There is 3.785 litres in one us gallon so it's hurting on the road and farm at the moment. Keep up the great work love this chanel. 👍🇦🇺

I have an 87 volvo 3406 mec it runs great i still use it i love it good job men thank you we watch you all the time remember to prime with primer pump thanks ( ross hemming)
It's rough but I would fix it up. The doors are there too. I would say it has potential, if you like them enough to restore it.

Thay were nice trucks similar to kenworth. I seen more cabovers than long noise but in Australia kenworth cabovers role the rust here we have long noise too
111 in New Zealand. There was probably a reason the starter motor was taken off. As it didn't spin, it may have been burnt out trying to turn over that seized motor.

Here in Oz are pay about $A2.10 per litre, exch rate $US1 = $A1.37.
So we are paying $US1.53 per litre
Which means on our prices, we’re paying $US5.76 per USgal.
Or
$A7.94 per USgal

Unfortunately no matter what anyones opinion is, the 3400 series cats are the BEST on road truck engines. It’s factual. 60 series being a VERY close second only losing because the driveability isn’t as good. The ONLY thing cummins has going for it is it does have a strong Jake. But I’d trade that for something quiet smooth and reliable.

We have a 89 Volvo that’s just like that but the white symbol is gone off the hood but ours has a Cummins Big Cam 350 and it runs

2 stroke Detroit for reliability, 3406 for power, Cummins for fuel and decent power, and 60 series Detroit for hp and reliability the 60 series can safely and reliably turned up to 600 hp with out engine work the cat on the other needs work to be reliable after 550

Diesel in the uk on the 21.05.22 is £8.35 which is $10.15 per gallon. Not that expensive
Here in the UK diesel is £1.79 PER LITRE!! I don't know exactly but that's getting on for $2.50 per litre or thereabouts and it's 999 over here for the emergency service

But just remember queit like Caddy car and ride too! Stevie Nicks song Edge Of Seventeen ring bells to you Hank sing Lol ! Also Desiel fuel was in 1987 in Ontario Canada for farmers was 25 to 35 Cent a litre and pump at fuel stations was or truck stop was 28 to 40 cents Litre ! I can tell that only got gouge was 5 cents litre or gallon on taxes !

@@HamiltonvilleFarm yes I know saying prices and in Ontario Canada Desiel fuel is high as $2.25 Litre and Furance Oil is lower grade Desiel fuel is $1.75 litre and British Columbia is high $ 2.60 for Desiel fuel and 87 to 91 plus 94 octane gas grades much as Desiel fuel ! But pure BS !

I remember back in the 90's when Diesel was always far cheaper than Gasoline.
Volkswagen, just about all of their cars were diesel, if you wanted Gasoline it was a special order.
