    00:00 - Intro
    00:27 - What is the MX950?
    01:37 - Quick Verdict
    03:28 - Full Review
    08:06 - Final Verdict
    The Panasonic MX950 is an excellent MiniLED model that will fulfil the role of living room workhorse for many consumers. It is not a screen that should be used for critical movie watching in dark surroundings, but anyone looking for a Panasonic model for that use will undoubtedly find what they're looking for with the MZ OLED models.
    The MX950 is also not a replacement for the superb DX902 model from 2016 that won many fans over for its superb FALD backlight and cinematic images.
    No, the MX950 is a solid Mini LED-equipped LCD TV that offers the type of image quality you expect from Panasonic, aimed at the mass market consumer looking for a bright set for living room use with gaming, sports and the occasional movie with the lights on.
    There are two HDMI 2.1 (40Gbps) inputs with support for 4K/120 HDR10 gaming, VRR, ALLM and eARC, plus the True Game mode for excellent gaming image quality to the standards. While it does also feature some of the downsides associated with Mini LED LCD TVs, such as haloing, blooming and poor viewing angles, used in the bright room and watching directly onto the set, the image quality is very good for this sector of the market. It comes recommended.
    The good
    Very good bright room image quality and accuracy
    Support for all HDR formats
    True game picture mode, game bar and decent gaming features
    Good sound quality
    The not so good
    Only two 40Gbps HDMI 2.1 ports with eARC using one
    Poor viewing angles and haloing around bright objects
    Blacks are weak in dim room viewing and black bars are not black

    Really excellent review! Very informative and professional yet well understandable for consumers. I watched Your video from Germany and must say that your clean & clear + not too fast English helps us non native speakers to understand videos like Yours. It is hard to find reviews on Panasonic LED TVs in UA-cam nowadays, what I don’t really understand. All reports are about Samsung, LG and a bit Sony. What is the reason for this? As a photographer and filmmaker I appreciate the color accuracy of Panasonic a lot. Anyway big thanks for Your fantastic review.

    I buy the 50DX750F last model of Panasonic 3D TV after I see your review about it ! you make a very well job, thank you very much. I'm very happy about The DX750F and I really like the Panasonic job, their TV have a lot of menu for calibration and it's easy to make it. This MX950 seems to be a great TV for people who don't want Oled TV and their risk of marking.

      I think you misunderstood my point about the DX902 being built by Panasonic from the ground up as an LCD aimed at critical movie viewing and being fully developed by Panasonic. The MX950 is assembled from off-the-shelf parts with Panasonic's processing added. It is obviously better than a 7-year-old model. When I said it wasn't a direct replacement, I was getting at the fact that Panasonic hasn't aimed at this level of the LCD market in a long time. I'll try and be clearer in future.

  • @belcampo8305
    @belcampo8305 8 місяців тому +5

    So according to AVForums this tv is not as good as the 7-year old DX902, and thus we better buy a 2nd hand 7 year old tv and not this new one? And then it gets recommended, although deemed just worse than the 7 year old tv?? I sure then would like to see a live comparison next to each other, so the viewer can draw a conclusion themselves.
    As to the viewing angles, I would have liked to see a panned shot from frontal to side view, so I could again draw my own conclusion as to how severe it actually is. Static images from an angle, and without the same image frontal, is difficult to judge in terms of severity.
    An indication on how this miniLED compares to other miniLED's on the market would be nice too.
    Nevertheless, thanks for the review as is, lots of good info in it. :)

      First thing you find on UA-cam about DX902 is bad motion/VA Panel smearing..

    • @belcampo8305
      @belcampo8305 8 місяців тому

      @@TheRealJohnHooper Interesting! So as being also a VA-panel, it would also have viewing angle issues then.
      Also, as pointed out in a reaction on a post below, the DX902 also suffered from "terrible blooming, noisy fans and very average processing and up scaling".
      I find it now really hard to believe that a good calibrated MX950 would not give a better PQ overall than a 7 year old VA-panel in the DX902.

    Approximately 120 dimming zones for the 55 inch version is pretty disappointing. Other competitors like Sony, TCL and even Hisense offer a lot more zones ( about 500 for 65 inch TVs) when taking a closer look at their 2023 MINI LED line-up.
    Black bars (more precisely grey bars!) and blooming seem to be an issue. That's also disappointing when comparing it to the great performance of Sony's latest X95l series.
    The MX950 doesn't seem to fare much better than TCLs C845. Yet, TCLs Mini LED TV is hundreds of euros/pounds cheaper than Panasonic's Mini LED TV.

    • @nimblegoat

      I did check my local country price - not super cheap - but way way cheaper than a x95L - look this TV is not for enthusiasts - just people who want a pretty good around TV - who trust the Panasonic name - that their TV will last a good number of years - as for TCL or Hisense - great what they are bringing - especially super big screens - I would check out reliability before buying a 98" monster in 2024 - Checked Sony for black friday here in my country - the 85" X95l is 23% cheaper than the 77" QD-OLED A90L - so really the X95L is a much better buy - a bigger screen immersion - no burn in - huge saving - and apparently blacks are near excellent in anything but a poor dark room - plus people who have them rave about them - still it's a flagship - and different market to the Panny - I can get a G3 83" much cheaper than than Sony 77" OLED - a C3 even more so - size wins everyday - plus a lot of money still in pocket - given that my room only suits a 77"-85"- That Panasonic will sell cheap end of shop cycle though - yes I would buy a X90L over this- a bigger TV - and pretty good price - not much loss in real life - though would still buy a 2022 77" OLEd super discounted first

      @@deepblueskyK - In my country limited models, same with Hisense - Do get Panasonic etc - anyway sure these companies are looking to expand and push the higher end models on the West - I hold my TV for 10 years plus - so think next year will be a sweet spot for me - MLA pushed to 83" maybe - Panasonic NZ2000 to 77" ( and new mediatek chip to fix some shortcomings - QD_OLED to 83" hopefully - Sony to master that chip as well ( as users have some minor bugs )- LG will work on its G4 to be premium - then a phethora of 85" minLEDs - Wait to see CES seems no supertech coming next year - Phoblue OLED is still years away from news , microLED further ( and still will be expensive ) - I do look a reliability - something like Panasonic's heatsink is worth something also - A panasonic NZ2000 MLA 77" would beat a A90M 77" every day in my country as would be $2000 cheaper in specials - So a OD-OLED 83" from Sony would have to be really really good a reasonable discount - I can afford it no problem - but it's still just a TV and i can spend the money elsewhere or leave it to my kids - With my Audio I've settled for a great sound for a reasonable price - ie no need to spend more than $10000 from a few headphones and Dacs - to Amp/Receiver and speakers ) - actually own about 5 headphones now ( that's enough - unless see a super deal ) - but $10000 from nothing to complete

      @@nimblegoat I really don't want to burst your bubble, but sadly Panasonic qualitiy isn't the same anymore and with an OLED the grass isn't always greener.
      I returned a Pansonic LZ1500 last summer because it made really strange, annoying noises while watching TV (buzzing, hissing). That issue couldn't be fixed bei Panasonics's service - not even replacing the processing unit, the motherboard, etc. fixed the problem.
      Also, there was an unacceptably large area with pink tint on the left side from top to bottom of the panel, not only on white background but a soon as the picture was a little bit brighter.
      Lesson learned: Even Panasonic's selected panels for the premium models are crap
      LG still can't build decent OLED panels after over 10 years (quality control).
      No more OLED for me anytime soon. ;)

      Talking about the build quality... The MX950 is more or less a rebadged TCL (C805?) with a Panasonic HXC processor and a slightly different layout for all the connections around the back of the panel.
      Oddly Panasonic's Mini LED has got much less dimming zones than all current TCL Mini LED TVs.

    • @thegamerkhan
      @thegamerkhan 4 години тому

      @@deepblueskyKYikes, that is a huge premium. From what I understand, it cannot be the c805, as it has too few zones, it's likely the C745, then. With such a huge premium, I'm expecting top notch processing, as I'm pretty sure that TCL already has good processing, due to their own in-house processor. As a gamer, it's fairly dissapointing, as I heard from HDTVTest that Panasonic TVs supported features that no other brand could.
