4.000 dollars in parking tickets??? WTF. Please don't let these two breed. My God
That is what happens when you park everywhere they charge for parking and not paying for it... Better to use the "lackluster" public transportation in those areas to prevent putting your car in those places even worse if you get towed...

If they sell their house like he wants in order to pay their debts and free up money, he'll spend it all away until they're back into same position they're in right now minus any fixed asset at all. If it's liquid or at all in his control, he'll spend it. The only reason they haven't sold the house is because she'd have to agree. I'm terrified for her considering his attitude towards money. He will continue to bring her down with him.

Marvin Gaye did the same thing (1939-1984) and Uncle Sam gave him a kick @ss lesson. I work for myself and rely on no one. When I bought my humble condo, I was "approved" for a pretty penny. Rather than look for homes in the "pretty penny" price range, I was determined to go LOW (just in case a client didn't pay, a family member got ill, etc). Got a great 30 year loan and paid it off 7 years a head of time by paying weekly on the principal. It would have been paid off sooner but, the bank wanted to charge me a ridiculous fee (over 1K) for "set-up". I don't purchase ANYTHING with credit and the hardest word for me to incorporate into my vocabulary was: No! Meanwhile ... all of my friends are up to their eyeballs in debt and they can't even retire. IMO, people have been watching way too many reality TV shows in addition to trying to "keep up" with the Jones'. Less is best and I feel bad for the younger generation ...
The introduction reminds me of The Nanny. They're 2 children in adult bodies. Children need instant gratification like these two.

How does someone get away with not filing taxes for 12 years?? I didn’t file city taxes when I moved out at 18 because I didn’t know I had too and got a very scary letter lol. Couldn’t imagine how the IRS would handle federal taxes.
Well for starters this show is Canadian so it's the CRA not the IRS, different processes
the CRA tends to only periodically review taxes on citizens unless they discover you have a history of not filing. They probably hadn't reviewed him in that long and then when they found that he hadn't filed they started garnishing.
to not too
IRS also has the ability to garnish wages.
The IRS would not wait 12 years to garnish wages. They cleaned out my sister’s entire paycheck one time to prove a point when she missed monthly payments on her back taxes owed! She had not filed taxes for 3 years when they caught up to her. The IRS is terrifying! I assume the other government offices (traffic tickets, government backed student loans) were garnishing his wages. The same sister tried getting away with not paying back student loans and the federal government snatched that back out of her wages. 😅

Suddenly I needed to pay my new car off my completely, only had it then at 5 months and pay only 375 monthly. That’s our only debt. Our DTI IS UNDER 28 percent, we make at least 102,999 together annually. So what’s up with that? I have an associate who have a credit score of 600, DTI ROUGHLY 40 percent, new BMW note 1000 a month, no down payment, she makes about 28,000 annually.. she got approved for a 400,000 home no contingencies on underwriting. If they see you have plenty of down payment money but your debt to income will be very close they might ask you to pay a card or car off. fyi this episode is super old probably 2009 notice how the TVs in their home are old Tube Tvs back then 78k was pretty decent probably 120k adjusting for inflation today
😱Wait a minute so her mortgage was not paid off and she quit her job without having another job lined up or money is that a thing?
So he had debt up to his eyeballs, doesn't do taxes, insane amount of parking tickets and she's like... yes he's a catch???
Right!!! I don't see what keeps her with him.
@@rachellebrown9830 whatever it is it's not serving her well.
When you are in this position, why would you quit a job before having another? These people need to downsize before it’s too late financially.
We need this show back!
At the end scene- is he buying STEAK??
I saw that too.
Did you feel like running up on him and snatching out of his hand, lol.
I think one of the ways you can tell if a person or a couple are really serious about getting out of debt is their willingness or lack of willingness to cut out the nights out and/or vacations or cable or iPhone 2000s until they are actually able to afford to do so.
Not that we are the standard of all things, far from it, but we didn't go out for 4 years while we got our finances under control. The first time out, lunch at a local pub, felt kind of strange. Strange and wonderful at the same time. We had been watching every penny for 4 years which becomes a habit hard to break but on the other hand we enjoyed then time so much knowing that we do not have debt payments to make and we have some money in the bank, saved for a rainy day.
Asian frugality.
Being frugal is like a game. How much you can NOT spend. During the recession I took it to a whole new level😆. I even rented my room out and moved into my van. I saved so much money I was able to pay my mortgage down and refinance based on room rental income. Now I just work part time, but still I cannot bring myself to pay for restaurants, movies, socializing, or travel. So it's hiking for fun and free second hand stuff. I'll throw a Thanksgiving and Xmas party for my housemate tenants but that's it ! I'll do the cooking.😆
If Pete wanted to live in a house they owned together, then Pete should have gone out and found a house that they could buy together! Not move into her house! What type of man does that?!
This girl has been unwise, signing half her house over to someone irresponsible to whom she is not married.
And all he’s worried about is his entertainment.
She needs to ditch that jigalo before she ends up homeless. He was smiling when talked about his debts!
They both deserve to be in this situation, living above their means, making constant stupid decisions and ignoring their situation. Hopefully they both learned the lesson.
Good Luck You guys. Just use this as a future heads up in a lesson we'll learned.
This guy is in sales…he tells you (Gail) what you need to hear. I doubt he stayed with the plan. He only got motivated when his cash cow quit her job. “sacred weekends”, good God!
In my experience, salespeople are SCUM.
From what I understood he was making 93k a year and she was making nothing and maybe minimum wage after getting that job. I think it was very dumb of her to add his debt to her house. However, without him in this scenario she would lose it anyway.
Lord, are these people babies or what?
Pete's attitude on taking care of his debt will always hold him down. Acting as if his debits will magically go away. Pete needs to understand there's no one more gangsta than a bank! They will get their money!
Really great advice
This was a great show. Wish it was still on!
Imagine living in the early 21st century when you could afford to buy a house on a middle class income.
Move cities
Did you watch the show? They COULDNT afford the house, they were 10 seconds from losing it
These people are absolutely ridiculous they've been living beyond their means and they cannot support the lifestyle that they wish they could have....they can not afford their home....time to downsize and face reality
Yeah, they REALLY can't afford to live there, but she can't face that. 🤷♀️
When either of us was not working. We finished projects and stepped up and sold items to fundraise and cut extreme costs.
Those buyer clubs are horrible. I am not sure if they still exist. I never even considered using one.
Taught my kids to save save save and live within your means they are doing great, sad that all kids do not get this advice at an early age
same here
same here
They need to teach about budgeting and living within your means in school. Drives me crazy that credit card companies set up booths on university campuses to catch the freshmen😡
Doubt he's learned anything
Lol 😂 He was really worried about having to fun money. He mentioned it 2-3 times 🤣
Never marry someone if they don't have the same values as you, including finances. He really is not the kind of man any sensible woman should marry.
